Hey there, I am/was blue here Honestly, the first game was quite shit from my side, ngl. Tried to do smth interesting, did not work out at all. I'm relatively new to 1v1, and only recently started to play ranked, I usually play team games. Also, @T90 gotta say congrats on pronouncing my surname correctly, 99% of people I meet butcher it😂 Anyway, it was fun to have two of my games up here, had a lot of fun with both of them. P.S. It was me during both of the games, just on the first match the game bugged and instead of Poles, gave me Portuguese, so I decided to just roll with it and try smth I don't do usually.

I actually think not producing vills was intentional by red in that 2nd game. In his mindset he probably did so to preserve food and since he doesnt improve his own eco, he raides blue. As soon as he hit 800 food he clicked up, meaning he kept an eye on his resources

I like the way some fighting games do the rematches: ranked best of 3, if you want to continue, then the game switches both of you into unranked.

Rematch feature is best for playing with friends/ lobby games and not having to host new game and hope the same players join first/kicking unwanted people.

It seems like a common low elo problem is they just refuse to switch their army. Like, sure, some civ knowledge about poles would help you prep spears ahead of time. But once he saw them he should have immediately switched into as much spear production as he could.

34:20 in Zelda Link's awakening, when you were up to steal something from the shopkeeper, you had to run circles around him and get out of the shop, when he looked the other way, as he tried to keep his eyes on you and wasn't fast enough anymore after some rounds. 6:15 yeah. I still have the beta cd, and AoE2 could have been a regular game that we wouldn't remember, but Microsoft didn't gave up on it. Basically TheViper was so good, and T90 was so good at casting with Dave, that interest in AoE2 was resurrected.

I guess me and my friends were disappointed about the Rematch button for a different reason. We thought when clicked, we would be put back into the ranked lobby to queue as a team, but not against the same enemies. It would solve the hassle of creating a new party, reinviting everyone from steam (because the ingame invite is not great) etc. But T90 only plays 1v1 so he might not realise the pain

I am glad that rematches are not ranked. When I want to rematch someone, or someone rematches me, I don't want to have to worry about Elo factoring in. I want it to be just for fun. But I play ranked casually at 700 elo, so.... that's just my position. Could look different from on high.

I think they do say 10 vills is enough in the Wallace campaign, but the fact is this was made when you couldn't get passed 75 pop so this could be why.

It feels like the William Wallace campaign is underrated. A lot of the LELs seem to not show some of the basics as opposed to a metagame approach.

I think even in a game with 75 pop u still go for more vills. I’ve played 25pop limit games and everyone basically ‘booms’ to 24vills and then gets upgrades and then delete vills to make units.

~ 16:20 is thumb ring/bodkin a viable alternative to crossbow/bodkin when you want to trick your opponent into taking bad fights, even at higher elo? obviously your units can easily be clicked on to see what blacksmith upgrades they have, but it seems like that's pretty low in a lot of player's priority lists imo. this just makes me think what other combinations of upgrades could hypothetically provide a more tactical advantage, like researching ballistics early, which isn't directly visible on your units like range/attack/armor is

I dont know what u mean but i think most players dont check enemy units so much. Obviously thumb ring is great and ballistic neccesary, however u really want attack upgrade on archers first (and armor on melee units), bcs crossbows with +2 wrecks elite skirm without armor upgrade and in bigger numbers and good position they hard counter cavalry. But i usually go for siege push so i´m adding ballistics way too late :D

I've been wondering if maybe Poles should have their infantry changed along with the eco since there were some complaints. Let's say their gold from stone is set to 33% and Szlachta Privileges is set to -40% (reducing each bonus by a third). Cav is no longer a great answer to heavy cav. The Obuch is still a little bit too tanky. So to address this, take away Plate Armor (consistent with weakness to archers) and give them Halberdier to compensate for their weaker cav. Would that work?

Got to looove the LEL matches. Not only are they about my skill lvl but they do funny things like red with the scout. Red is circling the TC couse he tries to outmicro the fact that there is no balistic in Dark age. He failes couse he get to close to the TC and the lack od said upgrade doesnt matter.
