Vaughan Gitten, Jr. did not tune this car. He had nothing to do with that. I know, as my friend Anthony Magagnoli did. He is a Ford engineer and a professional racer. He was kind enough to give me a ride at the car's SCCA Rallycross debut. What a sensational ride, and a FTD with me in it!

I bought a Bolt this summer with a set of those cross climate tires on it. They haven't been bad in NC for the hot months. They kick ass in the rain and i just drove through the mountains last weekend with snow and they were very confidence-inspiring. I don't think the knock on efficiency is enough to worry about and i drive like 5,000 miles per month. These might become my new favorite tires depending on if we ever have winter again here in the SE.
@markcoopers1930Ай бұрын
Those are some excellent slo-mo shots in the dust
@ZeGermanHamАй бұрын
Kinda interesting that Ford chose the Michelin CrossClimate2 tire for this vehicle. It's a fantastic tire in the snow, which has been proven to be nearly as capable as a true dedicated snow tire. In some ways it makes sense for Ford to use a snow biased tire on this vehicle, but I didn't expect to see it here. I've been using the CrossClimate2 on my Subaru for a bunch of years and it's an incredible severe weather "all season" tire.

@SKOMPASАй бұрын
Saying those tires are “long lasting” is one of those sales lines, technically if you are really gentle on them they will last quite well and have okay grip in all conditions, in the real world a couple of corners in summer and the treads melt!
@ragweedmakesmesneezeАй бұрын
These are well-reviewed "all weather" tires that both have the 3 peak mountain snow flake certification, but unlike pure winter tires, are also meant to keep on your vehicle year round. There are a TON of reviews about the Michelin Cross Climate 2s online.
@lunarweaselАй бұрын
I have these on my 22 WRX. Have lasted nicely, great in all conditions. I had zero expectations of solid high performance with them, but they are predictable at the limit. The limit is higher than I thought too. I have 15k miles on them and would get again in a heartbeat.
@SKOMPASАй бұрын
@@ragweedmakesmesneeze this is all true but I’m just saying my experience was on a warm summer day they disintegrated, I know it’s my fault for not having summer tires but all season really means cold weather tire
@ragweedmakesmesneezeАй бұрын
@@SKOMPAS Interesting, I didn't realize that you had a specific experience with the CC2 tires. I thought you were commenting generally on how long pure winter tires would last in the summer.

Interesting that the Michelin Cross Climate seemed to be a 'new' product to you guys - here in Europe they hold an almost mythical/Godlike status, to the point where the word 'cross climate' has almost transcended past all-season like Hoover and Biro.

Raised ride height, softer suspension, smaller wheel/tire and a pig like an electric car atrocity drives and rides like a proper street car offering should. There is no excuse for the crap ride and handling of any and all new cars made, other than inadequate design, implementation and complete monopolistic criminality in poorly rendered products foisted upon the customer.

Hot take: The mach-e is a great car, even with the mustang branding. It looks great, it's as fast as a gt 500 at lower speeds, it apparently handles very well, and it's really not an SUV. It's more of a hot hatch in terms of height and how it looks. The mach-e is basically the electric focus RS Ford never made. As a massive mustang enthusiast, the idea of multiple mustang models doesn't bother me as long as the name is on fairly sporty models that look good.
