After Michael's Cottage every time someone reveals a beam going into a wall it worries me. I'm so glad it's repairable. Rick needs to come to work cuz the convents just not the same without his smiling face. I'm hoping he has a speedy recovery. It'll be nice to have Ryan back. And Sean's always a pleasure. There is always something, but just look at the whole picture, this will be fantastic when insulated and finished...I once was determined to build a simple gazebo in front of my studio...HOWEVER...when it was finished I couldn't get the doors opened...it was an easy fix, but still worth the laughs...and then we cracked on...!

To add strength to the beams maybe apply an epoxy resin under vacuum to fill in any gaps or cracks. Like the resin that would normally come from a tree and wouldn't really hide the the natural look of the wood.

It's amazing to me that a building of the Convent's age is not in ruins. It's been so well maintained. This beam can be dealt with. Perhaps an interior buttress on each side of the beam forming a beautiful strong structural supporting arch. Sean is a Wizard amongst Wizards. The Dream Team must be reunited! I think the split beam would be a beautiful part of the character of the room. The room is so massive now that the walls are removed features need to be significant and a beam underneath vertically and aged. All the furniture will disappear in this magnificent room. So exciting …

Kitchens really are the heart and soul of a building, especially one used for home-space. Do it up with the best appliances you can afford, find a grand long table (or two or three or more ala the Hogwarts Great Hall)… painting the ceiling and beams in the 15th/16th century style would be amazing. And of course getting that grand fireplace restored! So much possibility❤

The Convent project is an endless source of intrigue and interest. I particularly liked the saga of the bell! I just had a thought: the chapel would be a lovely home for an old pipe organ. (Wait.
