Everyone has heard of Kong: the gigantic ape whose story has been remastered, rebooted and parodied more times than can be counted. What is less known, however, is that Kong is so prevalent in today's media because, simply, one guy really liked gorillas.

Did you know, that King Kong fighting airplanes on top of a skyscraper is based on an enraged Spanish architect? The Spanish writer Eduardo Mendoza i Garriga explained in his 1986 novel "La Ciudad de los Prodigios" ("The City of Miracles"), that Barcelona had a huge problem at the beginning of the 20th century: There was no prominent river and therefore there were no large bridges in the city, so early pilots could not fly batshit crazy maneuvers. They saw this as a highly unfair disadvantage, comparing their situation to the privileged inhabitants of other big European cities of that time. English pilots dove away under the Thames' bridges all the time. So... the Spanish came up with a really insane stunt, to make up for their lack of a decent playground: They would fly straight towards the towers of the Sagrada Familia cathedral, which Antoni Gaudí was working on at that time, tilted their planes around 90 degrees and flew sideways through the (narrow) space between two towers. Gaudí hated this, and there are reports about him jumping up and down on the roof of the unfinished cathedral, shaking his fists, shouting at the asshole pilots and even trying to grab them, because they came really close and he feared for his masterpiece. Gaudí is King Kong on the Empire State Building.

I think this dinamic is really hard to find in KZbin, the is another channel that I watch just for the dinamics between the friends, sortedfood, also a British channel, but they are more structured than you, bigger team, some scenarios made for humor, but the best part is their dinamics as friends. About the last point in this video, Wether or not you plan jokes and such: I don't know if this example is in the category that you mentioned where you improvised it, screwed up, and then redid it but i remember you guys had one joke where you made a ridiculously long wordplay-string (the same kind as Will Smith working as a smith in a smith while smithing a Will Smith smith, because he smith as well thansk to his name) in a video where it was obviously planned. Enjoyed it quite a lot nonetheless. Just thought i'd bring it up. Love the content, guys.

I love your channel so much. And I watch both Favt Fied and Today I Found Out and while they are both fact videos, TIFO is like your proper, safe to watch at work show while FF is the one you save to watch for at home because you never know where it will go, and I love that. I know that Vassals of Kingsgrave is unscripted and that whoever edits that particular episode goes through and cuts stuff out that they don't think should be in it, or will move stuff to the end if it is too off topic. They have a changing cast, so how funny or serious the episode is really depends on who is on and how well they click.

I don't know of any youtube channel that have a similar style. Mostly improvised discussions with little editing relying on the chemistry of the people involved is something you mostly see on talk radio and in podcasts. Video-wise, talkshows and interviews are the only examples that I can see relying on a similar formula.
