They didn't recast Hux. The Hux that we saw here is Brendol Hux, the father of Armitage Hux from the sequel trilogy. This does take place like 30 years before the sequel trilogy, so it makes sense that it would be his dad here. In fact, Brendol Hux is played by Brian Gleeson, the brother of Domhnall Gleeson.
@DavidWMiller

Thank you. I'm not going to be too picky about people knowing the ins and outs of the lore, but I was like.... Come on guys, you even called him "Young Hux". If he was young then, what the heck do you think is going on here? Even "Project Necromancer", while it sounds like a Palpatine resurrection reference, could still be something else entirely. We just have so much time to work with, and The First Order didn't know about Palpatine. It'd be weird if these people were talking about. Hell, could even be a Death Troopers reference. I certainly hope they leave it out of canon, but Hux was in charge of building out troops, and an undead troopers project would be right in line with that.
@TheItachiIshtar
@TheItachiIshtar Жыл бұрын
@@DavidWMiller Also, according to the Star Wars wiki, Armitage Hux would have only been roughly 10 years old by the time of Mandalorian Season 3. So it really wouldn't add up if he had shown up in this episode as an adult.

For me the biggest issue of the whole episode was the Jetpack Stormtrooper fight: what happened to all the gadgets Mandalorians have? Mando himself has that mini 30+ missile gauntlet that would've took a good chunk of them all out but everyone was just using a pistol except the guy with the minigun.

They won't really be of use given the situation they were ambushed in. The supercommandos can easily dodge the rockets and flamethrowers would just cause friendly fire. In all honesty if the supercommandos were the ones using the gadgets they're as good as dead as they literally have the mobility and (sigh...) high ground advantage.

Dinn's little mini missles are made of Beskar. They wouldn't have high penetration against Beskar due to having the same densities etc... it's a physics thing. Similar to how you want high density tungsten or Depleted Uranium for a higher chance of penetrating a tank.

That Shadow Council scene has been everything I wanted out of sequels to Episode 6. A reforming Empire, the warlords with competing interests. It feels very mature coming off that last episode which felt like it would have been a better Lando episode. Keep this tone we could have a good summer ahead with Ahsoka.

this show is the official sequel storyline at this point. After ROTJ the only story worth telling is how the new republic retakes the galaxy and its struggle against the imperial remnant, while luke tries to rebuild a new jedi order. This show actually takes the threads ROTJ left us with and does stuff with them isntead of the absolute fuck all of 7-9.

For me one of the main issue is Grogu. He just seems to be rubberbanding from powerful to useless. He got a mech suit and it was useless in the battle and did not do shit. How about helping Din with the force? He could have stopped Gideon himself, but the show had him sidelined again and again.

The moment that made me most mad with Grogu this season is the first time Din got captured. He tries to force-lift a lever or some shit, does NOT attack the creature (who is out of the mech suit) with a force push or anything, runs to the mouth of the cave, attacks a completely different creature with the Force...flies all the way to Bo Katan. They took the least efficient way to the forge as possible 😆. "Sure we know where the Forge is. Let's travel a day or so by barge instead of that fancy ship you used to enter the atmosphere" Just give the damn coordinates and they could've all fit onto the Armorer's ship, got dropped off, and have their sick transported back to the fleet in one trip. Also Bo staring at Din getting captured (again), and instead of carving a hole in the glass with the dark saber - something she does to METAL minutes later - she just stands there to receive Gideon's villain speech therapy. Also Grogu forgetting he has the Force and could lift an entire mudhorn.

This was the best episode in the season, but we really should have been at this point a solid 2-3 episodes earlier. I do love the idea of the next generation of Dark Troopers equipped with Beskar armor. Grogu breaking up the fight between Paz and Axe was a nice moment, shows that Grogu is maturing and cares for the people that have taken him in. Paz Vizsla's sacrifice was emotional, but a bit unneeded, he could have hit the button and rolled under the door before it closed. But if there was anyway for Paz to go out, this was it. Fighting to his last breath, taking as many enemies with him as possible. Would have liked to see him kill 1 of the Praetorian Guards though.

When you think about Grogu being there by the window watching his 'dad' get beaten down and taken... Disney gave him a Droid exosuit but didnt let him do shit with it, and they must also completely forget he has powerful telekinesis abilities, in fact, he could've easily kill Gideon himself right there and then, that of course wouldve been out of his character, but doing nothing was out of his character as well. Luke, the jedi who seemingly took down both Vadar and the Emperor, is still alive (so are the rest of the Rebel heroes including force sensitive Leah that Vadar knew about). They also apparently could've won easily if Paz killed all the regular guys by himself and only died to the 3 royal guard guys. Though, he could've also just flown away from them seeing as he had a jetpack lol. While I wanted more Star War stories, I also am not happy seeing the Royal Guard guys from the sequels, it's like all these series are just trying to make the trainwreck that was the 3 Kathleen Kennedy Sequels less moronic. At the end of this Mandlorian series though obviously Grogu, Din and Bo-Katan are going to be doing jackshit though seeing as they did nothing to stop to the New Order in those same Sequels that these series are trying to course correct. They're basically sacrificing their own legitimacy to the cause of Kathleen Kenneddy's terrible sequels.

The Dark Trooper element (as mentioned in the latest episode) directly contradicts what was established in Season 2. In Season 2, they stated that the human element had been removed, because it was the last compromising component. Now, they've reintroduced humans to the equation? I realize Dark Forces (the video game) isn't canon, but the Dark Troopers were always 100% machine in those games. Of course, no one seems to ask the question "Why would the Empire resort to droids after the Clone Wars?" Is there an overarching "bible" for Disney Star Wars or are they, literally, throwing sh*t at the wall and seeing what sticks?

Honestly a little disappointed with the fight scenes in this episode, it felt like the numbers of enemies were inconsistent in one scene it felt like they were outnumbered 3 to 1 and in others there was just a few. The stormtrooper aim (practically that's what they are) is an outdated bit and just feels lazy, especially when Paz Vizsla is just standing there while a couple of squads are just shooting at him and he has time to turn around and tell Bo Katan to go... yeah it was a little rough to watch. Still a better episode than most others, though!

Bro’s, 8’s and 9’s… Disney contribute to your energy thing or what? I give the episode a 6, and that’s generous. Some good parts, the grogu stuff was very good, but some other stuff like the Godzilla monster is lame. They just need to stop with that. Overall it still just seems like a bad cheesy comic book. Still appears made for 4th or 5th graders.

Kinda didn’t like how both sides are now bulletproof, same as with John Wick. In Legends only mandalorians actually knew how to properly work with iron/beskar. But that would be a cool trivia point- have armorer identify a weak spot or two in their mass produced armor, that way the mandos can showcase their better skills rather than just playing rockem sockem robots with laser pistols.

Am I the only one who wasn’t too satisfied with the episode? Maybe it’s still the bad taste I have from the previous episode and more specifically how the Darksaber plot line was resolved overall. To me, the whole difficulty Din had with using the Darksaber that was setup in The Book of Boba Fett and him having a crisis of faith, as well as doubts if he’d be worthy to be the new Mandalore was supposed to lead to him overcoming all of that and actually stepping up to try and live up to the responsibility for his people this season. And instead, they resolved all of that through a technicality and him handing it off to Bo Katan for her to become the new lead character. I started this show for Din and continue to follow it for him. But now? Din is kind of a side character that has taken a backseat in his own series much like they did with Boba in his own show. And don’t get me wrong, I do love Bo Katan ever since TCL and do see how she does make more sense at this point for her to be the new Mandalore, even if she has already kinda failed at leading the Mandalorians, but I really do not enjoy the whole “The Mandalorian title is not just about Din anymore” and that the interesting protagonist that was one of the main reasons I got into the series is seemingly not really the protagonist anymore. Maybe it’s really just me, but the whole situation IMO has been/is being handled in a really unsatisfying way and it really made it difficult to enjoy this episode, even though it is objectively way better than most of what has been in the entire season. However, the resolution of the Darksaber plot line, plus the handling of Din throughout the season in general, has really made it hard for me to enjoy the rest of the series at the moment.

What soured me was the dreaded confirmation that they are tying this to the Disney Sequels. That means Snoke in a jar is canon, strobe light Palpatine is canon, Reylo kiss is canon, Holdo maneuver is canon, object teleportation using the Force is canon, force ghosts using force lightning is canon, Palpatine in Fortnite is canon, lightspeed skipping is canon, tracking inside lightspeed is canon.

@@One.Zero.One101 Honestly, that’s also the other reason that is sort of ruining the enjoyment of the “Mandoverse” for me after it was confirmed that the sequels will not be scrapped and instead, continued. And now, all these series and their respective teams need to conjure up some explanations and plot lines that try to justify the “Somehow, Plapatine has returned” bull and that inevitably everything will lead to the sequel trilogy, and all the damage it did to the canon, and the franchise.

Din is a gunslinger, not a leader. When you turn the mandalorian into the leader, you get Book of Boba. Don't wish the same fate on Din. He's proven himself to be a wise, level-headed negotiator in all these past episodes, and fits more like a Hand of the king than the actual king. I don't think he's taken a back seat in his own show, just because he's not leading Mandalore. I wouldn't want him to lead. Let Bo Katan's story finish, so that we can get more Din next season. But the way the last season ended, only one of two outcomes could've happened: 1) you make Din the new leader and get another Book of Boba or 2) you let Bo Katan get her chance to shine in the spotlight for one season to get her darksaber back, then push her aside for Din to get his show back next season.

I feel like part of the problem with Mandalorian is they are shooting it like Power Rangers. While this episode was better, there was still some questionable dialogue. Also, some of the action sequences literally made me think of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers lol. The secret Imperial Council scene was great, it added a lot of depth to the Imperial Remnant forces, even if we all know it's eventually leading to the First Order. Lastly, I thought the scene with Grogu getting the IG-12 mech suit was actually pretty clever and funny. It had the feel of classic Star Wars humor, not forced. Andor is still the gold standard to me for Star Wars shows. They really need to get some writers/showrunners on that level for the Mando-verse. I am really hoping Ahsoka is a step up from this.

I found it mid. There are just too many inconsistencies with the Imperials that conflict with what we know. - Gideon is allowed to waste vast resources without consequences. - The majority of the Imperial forces were wiped out on Jakku where the final battle occurred. Those that survived either went with Hux and Sloane to make the First Order, were sent to Exegol, or surrendered. - All of the remnants resources were being funnelled into the FO and Eternal Empire, and Gideon being able to waste them and fail so often would lead to Palpatine removing him. - We still don’t really know what Gideon really wants or plans. He’s not working for Thrawn or Snoke, and isn’t privy to Palpatine’s plans. So why did he want Grogu?

Like...I's ok, but it's far from great. It definitely didn't deserve a 9/10. MAx a 7, and even then I'm nice.

Where is Axe Woves going? It's established that the electromagnetic field around Mandalore was screwed up due to the bombs, thus making it impossible for him to contact the fleet, and earlier in the episode the Armorer took the Gauntlet to shuttle the wounded Mandalorians and I watched it back, it was only the ship that descended to the surface. Not to mention that in the first shot when they arrive at Mandalore they're shown to be in low orbit then when the Armorer is making her way up they're in space. Also, what the hell is the power level of Bescar steel? In some scenes throughout this season Mandalorians are terrified that they're ambushed by a few pirates, and another scene here in this episode they're running at imperial troops who also have bescar, isn't bescar the only metal capable of withstanding a blow from a lightsaber? What the hell is the point of the armor when you can just get shot in the hip and die? Star Wars has always had this issue with their loose worldbuilding when it comes to combat. A blaster can kill anything with a shot to anywhere, yet some people can take multiple shots and be okay? Honestly, I really wanted to like this episode, and it's not without it's merits; the visuals are amazing, particularly the environment, and anytime they show a spaceship flying, I think they've got that all down really well, but whenever it comes to a fight scene, they just take me out of it. For example when the Mandalorians get ambushed by the imperial troops the first time, the imperial's have such a distinct advantage with their positioning, I mean, did the Mandalorians forget they could fly? I dunno, this episode was just overall a dud to me, and the big anticipation moment where they finally reveal Gideon was just so like, predictable and bland, and his little "shadow council" it feels like they're kids playing make believe. One last thing because you guys called it out in Book of Boba, that whole into scene didn't feel like Star Wars at all, it felt like someone on the writing team recently played Cyberpunk and was like "yo, we gotta add this into the show we're making." just like with the cyberpunk power rangers in book of boba. Overall not something I enjoyed watching this time around, I hope the final episode is better.

Because while the actual physical metal plate of the beskar armor is blaster and lightsaber-proof, the rest of their flappy underliner isn't. Case in point, Jango; Mace lopped off the dude's head right under his helmet, and Jango didn't have a gorget. When Boba becomes Mandalore in Legends, they remake his armor from beskar and add a gorget specifically for this reason so he doesn't die the same way his dad did. It's the best possible protection you can get, but it's damn heavy, so they generally only wear small pieces of it (hence why Paz, the big beluga of the group, wears so much goddamned armor. He's the only one strong enough to wear that much of it). So you just shoot at the spaces between the plates or where they don't have plates; very few people in the show have a codpiece or cuisses, plenty of them have their stomachs unarmored, their sides and most of their arms are usually unprotected, and you can always shoot them in the throat. Also, I hate that the "Neon Noir" aesthetic is now permanently identified with CDPR's Cyberpunk. Now, if we ever get a Coruscant Underworld show, everyone's going to just say that it's "Star Wars' Night City" if they can't see speeder traffic and Stormtroopers and Jedi patrolling with their lightsabers out 24/7. As if Blade Runner didn't do it almost 4 decades earlier. Christ almighty.

They really couldn't help themselves with the dumb monster of the week. They saw the thing about a mile or 2 out, the normal response is to atleast slow down some but they speed directly towards it and lose a ship and men and for what?

Again I am a huge Mando fan, but man, this was underwhelming for the second last episode.. They added a female empowerment agenda and it shows.. Mando is Bo's biatch now I guess, smh... 6/10 for this episode. It really wasn't that good.

The idea that there was so much Beskar going around that they were paying off bounties with it... Is wrong. It wasn't pure Beskar that the Empire had their hands on. The Empire doesn't know how to properly forge Beskar. What they had was Beskar alloy, a combination of Beskar with other metals that aren't as strong. That's why the Beskar bar that Din was paid with had a bunch of swirls on it, it wasn't pure Beskar. That's also why the Super Commandos weren't 100% blaster proof and Paz's heavy repeater was able to take them down. Their armor was cheaper Beskar Alloy.

I think you're being too generous with a 9. The action was as dumb as normal. Everything was contrived and I just don't buy it. The monster scene was dumb, these guys have spent years sailing around the planet (not going to mention the sails aren't big enough to move the ship) but they lose this ship to the first monster they come up against in this episode. So many more cringe moments I can't even be bothered typing them out.

Best episode of the season ! But kinda stupid ending imo.... Paz Vizsla pretty much soloed everyone there and fell by the 3 Praetorian Guards.... If the rest of the Mandalorian's stayed there they would have annihilated them all including the Praetorian Guards.

This is the issue when you write a story with a plot and not with the characters, *Spoiler!* Paz had many opportunities to preserve himself and help his people but the story needed his sacrifice Bo could have sliced the door open with her saber to get to djin, but the story needs him to get captured. It takes you out of the story when characters are stupid and this is one of the main issues that ruined book of boba and obiwans show, because they make the characters do dumb things to serve the plot

Good episode but that stupid moment near the end almost killed it. 'Oh no, we're trapped in this room and Mando's outside!' Oh no, if only one of you had a sword that could cut through that wall like it was butter, or someone that could force choke the guys attacking Mando.
