i don't get why they didn't keep a 3:3:3 ratio for the final group if it was supposed to be a global girl group. it seems like common sense to ensure there was at least a decent balance. what were they gonna do if the final lineup was like, 8 korean, 1 japanese, and no chinese members at all, or something similar? what if they somehow ended up with ALL korean members? it would've been embarrassing. hell, the ratio we ended up with in kep1er is already kind of embarrassing on its own (no hate to the girls, only mnet lol)

It is so much easier for MNET or any agency to have all-Korean members because of the typical routine that Kpop groups promote. As you can see with Kepler, they start with Korean Press conference, Korean music shows and then Korean variety shows. Mnet actually would not mind at all if all Korean group was formed. Kpop is now banned in China so that there is no money to be made there. There are Kpop groups with all Korean members that have reached global popularity.

Yaning suffered the most in this program. She was still attacked after that incident. People were quick to judge back then. She just followed what the writers and producers asked her to do. She never disrespected Yujin but Mnet made it look like she has a bad attitude. I'm just glad that Suyeon joined Billlie not Kep1er. Mystic Story is under SM Ent and they have the best producers in that company. I like their album more than Kep1er's even though Suyeon joined late. I think Shana will debut this year. I can't wait to see her group. I hope MLD treats them better.

66 foreign trainees and just barely 3 debuted. I believe Xiaoting was just added in to cause less controversy. Also the way they mistreated the J & C trainees was so unfair. The mentors also sucked, they did more criticism than actually teaching imo. As a fellow Chinese, I wasn’t too happy when I saw only Xiaoting barely making the final line up. To me the final line up is honestly still a head scratcher to me. I’m not saying it’s bad but it could’ve been way better.

GP999 was my first and last kpop survival show. And the ONLY reason I was interested in it was because I was interested to see how they would navigate a mostly-foreign group through kpop. I really hate the ratio we ended up with.

I watched a lot before already, pd101,youth with you and chuang, but only after the final lineup has been decided because i am afraid of creating any strong attachment toward the participants and i am regretting doing the opposite thing with gp999, which i watch the show before the debut... Liang Jiao was later revealed to have had a stomach problem. It was a mess, I was so enraged. Not only did they ignore the problem, they made even made it seem like she was at fault for being lazy instead of sick!!! Jiao also clarified that she wanted alone time because she felt like she was dragging her members down, but alas, the stupid language barrier that could've been so easily fixed except the staff refused to acknowledge it. GP999 was apparently so bad both Yale and Qiao expressed extreme joy for being out of the show and back in China lmao.

Yeah, the 3:3:3 ratio lineup definitely would have been something 99% of the viewers wanted. It's just completely messed up how they claimed this to be a global girls group then being xenophobic and was unable to keep their claims. Also, my thought on why Xiating and Yurina's ranks dropped so drastically on the last few episodes is that people sorta believed that they could keep their place and was been a bit relaxed with the voting, so when they changed the voting systems halfway it definitely impacted their ranking. Also, for Yurina, she didn't have too many diehard fans, her votes mostly came from fans who liked her but had other girls they favoured more. As for Xiaoting, I still felt her ranking dropping so much was somewhat sketchy. In China, most Chinese after watching a few episodes of gp999 realised mnet was going to keep other Chinese contestants like Fu Yaning, Cai Bing away from the lineups for sure because of the evil editing and they had turned to vote for Xiaoting instead, so it honestly does not make sense Xiaoting's rank dropped so much even though her international fans may have been a bit loose with the voting. If there was another person I felt sorry for who made it in the lineup, it would definitely be Bahiyyih, It was obvious mnet did not like her even though she still ranked second and I feel like one of the reasons why mnet changed their voting systems DURING the show was because of Bahiyyih. I am not a fan of Bahiyyih and when I saw her rank 2nd in the final lineup I didn’t like her because I thought she didn't deserve the spot. HOWEVER, when wadada was released, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her, she legit got the least vocal lines and screentime and it was greedy of mnet to do this to her. Mnet wanted the money from her and her brother’s fans yet they wouldn’t give her more time that her rank was more worthy of.

@@beetroot5368 I always felt like Bahiyyih will be essential to the group because no one can deny that she brings the views and even if people started supported her because of her brother, it still doesn't change the fact that she has the most viewed fancams and will constantly keep bringing people to the group. For example, if txt keeps gaining fans then more people will know about bahiyyih and want to check her out. Selfish but it brings the group popularity. People started liking bahiyyih because of her brother but stayed because she is THAT GIRL. People were saying most of her fanbase is moas and once she debuts no one would support her, clearly that was a lie. I cannot see the hype revolving around the kep1er members, simply because I do not see the charm. I love the girls but let's be real if there were girls like Su Ruiqi, Yurina, Xiaoting, Bahiyyih, Yaning and Yujin all in one group then people would actually be interested and go crazy about them like how twitter went crazy over Su Ruiqi audition in girls planet. Those girls has the IT factor, yet people wasted it, each and every girl was really popular and considering the current group I doubt they will be popular in Japan or China. Also, I can see why Xiaoting ranked lower because although all chinese voted Xiaoting, we have to realize that chinese and japanese votes for weighed the same as international votes so it did not make any impact. People also started getting into Xiaoting more after the snake performance and before that she was mainly sadly a filler votes for most korean trainees along with Yurina. The entire show was so stupid I mean the whole 50% Korean votes and 50% rest. Koreans were crazy biased and the whole show defeated the point of a global group. How is it a global group when only Korean trainees are at advantage? I also hated the underlying xenophobia against the C-trainees and how tough the environment was, not giving them dictionary or time to communicate. The show was rushed and the girls were worked their butt off. I mean just 3 performances??? In the entire show??? The entire survival show was a joke.

Tbh if the participants you mentioned would be in this group they would 100% be doing girl crush and I don't see them doing anything far from that. And bad as it seems this group is really popular in Japan like very, they charted amazingly. And Bahiyyih is definitely not popular there more like the most hated but well it's not like she needs that popularity in Japan when 70% of international stans are hers. Internationally, Bahiyyih would catch all the attention anyway with or without this line up so I don't think there would be that much of a difference. The survival show wasn't popular in SK anyways and if the line up had less koreans then this group would be doomed to flop.

I think the 3K:3C:3J line-up would be able to pull off anything in my opinion, it was filled with highly talented trainees and there would be rappers, dancers and vocalists. Also, Bahiyyih is really popular, I would say there is a difference between being liked and being popular. She is really popular in Korea and has a lot articles made on her but then again the more popular you are, you are bound to get hate. Her popularity is fine in Korea and overall she is really popular. Although I agree Bahiyyih would have no loss because she would be popular with or without debuting but I think fans were worried because of her agency who is known for debuting after years and they were scared that she might not get to debut at all. As much as I love kep1er, I don't see them being as big as IZ'ONE for some reason.

In K-group not every member was in my own line up but well it's not bad like this either. Yes and tbh I want Bahiyyih to change the company when she is finished with Kep1er but I doubt that will happen. I agree that Kep1er won't be as big as IZ*ONE at leeast not in Korea. I am a new kep1ian after watching Queendom 2 and after seeing this things about Dayeon I feel bad for her. That kid didn't do anything wrong but worked her ass off to deserved everything she got. I also watched gp999 after becoming a fan and as a fan who watched all produce series, I can say that dayeon's screen time was too much but if you're that good I think you deserved it. If not for Dayeon's choreography making skills the longest screen time Hiyyih will get is the mentor mentioning his brother and that is so sad knowing how Hiyyih have a potential but people who don't support his brother will only see her as the trainee who survived the show because of his famous brother.

At least a few of the contestants that didn't make it into Kepler have found a new path to fulfill their dreams such as Kim Suyeon who was recently added as the seventh member of rookie girl group Billlie and is now going by the stage name Sheon in that group. Kishida Ririka, Hayase Hana, Chang Ching, & Lee Yoon Ji are also going to debut in the new girl group ILY:1 as well. So there is hope and Girls Planet 999 was also a boost for Bora from Cherry Bullet as I can remember one commenter on KZbin jokingly (I hope) say that Bora not getting into Kepler was their "villain origin story." Also should note Shana Nonaka is due to debut in a new group that MLD plans to debut in the first half of this year. I have complicated feelings about the series as at first I was going to support the group that came out of it despite it being a project group. As I have a personal rule that I do not support project groups because it's too painful for me when those groups disband due to the emotional investment I have in them. You can thank/blame the Love Live School Idol Project franchise for this rule as I loved Muse as a group deeply and that disbandment hurt. Yet with Girls Planet 999 I originally felt like I would support whoever got in part of this is because I was head over heels for Huening Bahiyyih and I wanted Kang Ye Seo to do really well as I felt she could be the Oh My Girl's Binnie of the group. Also, my habit was to support longshot contestants like Wu Tammy as well. I really liked the series until the first allegations regarding filming conditions and the language barrier and the lack of translators came out. Then I quit following the series faithfully as it all left a bad taste in my mouth. I can't say I'm particularly mad with the final lineup even if the voting system felt convoluted and overly weighted to one side. I just wish people would be nicer to Bahiyyih online.

My picks that time was Yujin, Ruiqi, Manami, and Xiaoting so when the final rank was announced I was happy for Yujin and Xiaoting but also frustrated when Ruiqi didn't make it knowing that she was not in the final lineup because of the Korean votes. I kinda wish that the voting ratio was 30% Korean 20% Japanese 20% Chinese, and 30% International votes so that the C and J contestants wouldn't be eliminated unfairly because of the lack of Korean votes. This is the first survival show I watched because I was never interested in watching them, but I did because of Bahiyyih. And despite the rollercoaster emotions I had in GP999, yes I will still watch Boys Planet 999 because I love drama, and I hope in Boys Planet they will make the voting ratio 10 or 20% Korean votes and 80-90% international votes knowing that the contestants will not be limited to certain countries and International fans literally carried GP999 and MNET gained profits because of International fans, so they better give us the fair share when it comes to voting.

They really downplayed Ruiqi in the last few episodes and played up Xiaoting. Problem is they played them against each other, saying that Ruiqi wanted her form to look pretty instead of supporting the center. They also stopped showing her smiling or doing anything pleasant. Honestly, I liked all the remaining contestants and would've been happy whoever debut because they all deserve it. But among those who debut, I voted for Chahyun, Yujin, Dayeon, Mashiro and Hikaru. Now that the show has ended, I started rooting for Bahiyyih the most because she has become an underdog and a lot of people are hating on her when all she did was audition for a show to make her dreams come true. Mnet obviously just showed her at the start to invite more people to watch and didn't expect her to debut. I don't think anyone expected it. I hope that Boys Planet would be more fair but I highly doubt it :(

There was no way, though, that Mnet was going to debut a group that wasn't dominated by Koreans. I am sure the discussions behind closed doors were like "we have to have no less than one and no more than two J-group girls in the final nine, and the same for C-group". Any sort of fair and balanced voting system would have had the *potential* to create a majority foreign final group, and that was just NOT an option for Mnet. The risk of the Korean home audience not supporting such a group would have been too great. Where Mnet really messed up though was giving the IMPRESSION that there might be a 3/3/3 lineup at the end, or even that that was the goal, such that non-Korean fans were always bound to be disappointed.

Watching GP999 while it was airing was a fever dream. But I knew from the beginning that with each subsequent voting round, the producers would make it more and more likely that Koreans would dominate the group lineup. I would've loved it if they kept the 3:3:3 ratio, or at least tried by making the final voting round one in which you had to pick a girl from each country like they did for the second to last elimination. They were just way too focused on making a Korean the number 1 contestant and that really backfired. The evil editing was also so blatant and disrespectful to the Chinese contestants. But I actually almost feel worse for the Japanese contestants because they were just invisible throughout the entire show (a purple kelly if you will for those survivor fans out there). The producers knew what they were doing and in the end they (almost) got the lineup they wanted. I do love all the girls in the final line up, but man do I wish Xiaoting were 1st. Her star quality is something else and the weird game they play splitting Xiaoting and Chaehyun as center is frustrating. I bet if Xiaoting were first, she would be center point blank. I feel like I'll always be a little bit conflicted about Kep1er as a whole. I love them, but GP999 was such a shit fest and the final voting round revealed a lot of xenophobia. But also if the votes were all counted equal, that would mean my girl Yeseo wouldn't have made it and that would've sucked.

I think the bias and discrimination against foreign idols are the strongest in South Korea, compared to China and maybe Japan. I don't follow Japanese idol selection shows, but have watched a lot of Chinese ones. None of the Chinese idol selection shows evil edit any of its foreign idols. I mean NONE. Not even once. Just from the top of my head, I can remember a small conflict between a Japanese contestant (Uno Santa) and a Chinese contestant on CHUANG 2021. The show did not evil-edit Uno Santa at all. The Chinese viewers, including myself, all sided with Santa and called out that Chinese contestant for being unreasonable. Santa ranked the 2nd place in the final line-up. His friend from Japan ranked the 3rd place. The debut boygroup has 11 members in total, with 6 members being foreigners. That's more than half. Another case I remember was from Youth With You S2 (my favourite idol selection show ever; and Lisa from Blackpink was a mentor on it) when there was a pretty big drama between four mainland Chinese contestants (four twin sisters) and a Taiwanese contestant (Wang Chengxuan). The show clearly supported Chengxuan's side, and edited her very favourably. One of the Chinese mentors (Cai Xukun - who's also an idol) straight-up called out those girls' wrong behaviour on screen, to their faces. Their debut girlgroup THE9 has 9 members and none of them are foreigners. But I don't think it's due to viewer bias. The show was not an international show, and over 90% of the contestants are from mainland China, so statistically the result makes sense. I can't think of any foreign contestant on that show who deserved to replace those 9 girls. For example, Chengxuan was pretty good and she made it very far, but she wasn't strong enough to be Top 9. Chinese viewers always favour the "Girl Crush" type of female idols who are very fierce and diva on stage, but the Taiwanese contestants tend to be the sweet "girl next door" type, so they usually can't catch the eyes of Chinese voters. Btw another funny thing about CHUANG 2021 was that, even with 6 foreign members in the debut boygroup, a lot of Chinese viewers were outraged by this result and accused the show of manipulating the votes to favour some of the CHINESE contestants. They literally wanted even more foreign members in the group. They really loved some of the Japanese and Thai contestants and were convinced that their elimination was unfair and unjust. I simply cannot imagine this type of public opinion/outrage ever happening over a Korean idol selection show.

Japan for example, treats anyone who is not fully Japanese - basically as comic relief. Also the reason you don't see the discrimination at hand is because they don't want you to see it. AND especially in Japan's case, the number of non-Japanese (this includes half-Japanese people - a lot of conservative folk don't see them as "Japanese") artists/actors/idols that actually "make it" are extremely far and few. If there's so less of them, of course you wouldn't see it. They're also simply not interested in the international market, so they don't have a reason to scout for anyone but Japanese people.

The C trainees got so much screen time at the start of the show then they evil-edited the frontrunners in the end, except for Xiaoting who was the only one who debut. The J trainees were invisible to mnet it seems, except Mashiro and Hikaru who were obv the ones who debut. Then I think they got a run for their money when Bahiyyih debut and not Bora. I love Bora and voted for her but it was obvious how much mnet wanted her to debut. I think she was meant for Bahiyyih's spot. I think they wanted Xiaoting to debut as the center though- they were literally grooming her for it the whole show. So now they split-center Chaehyun and Xiaoting, make Dayeon the main everything, make sure no one notices Bahiyyih is even in the band, then everyone else are are extras. Don't get me wrong, I truly love them all. I just wish that after mnet manipulated them and the viewers the whole GP999, they at least give the members equal opportunities to shine.

I’m really glad to see this video done. As much as I loved all the contestants, it pained me to not only see the same thing that happened with Produce 48 but see it happen much in a worse capacity. I love the current Kep1er members but I do fully believe that if Mnet hadn’t done the cell system & kept away from the evil and angel edits, we would have a much different line up. As far as 50/50, I understand wanting it because the group WILL be active in South Korea, but I feel like a 40/60 split would’ve been better. And now, with Boys Planet, I fully expect the show and final group will be treated so differently. I’d much prefer if Season 2 were another girl season. Treat the contestants right. Stop using women as a test run. I feel one of the only ways to make this right at least as final groups go is to make Kep1er permanent and give some kind of project group to the eliminated finalists. Everyone expects BP to be permanent and that honestly hurts.

I really wish international fans would stop blaming other i-fans or themselves for not voting other girls. The system was very flawed,our votes weren't even worth 1/10 of the Korean votes. Even Bahiyyih who had a 200k difference of votes with Chaehyun ended up being 2nd, let along Ruiqi and Yaning who were hated by knetizens. There were also some weird reactions from other countries like cnetizens not liking and understanding why i-fans vote for Wen Zhe or jnetizens disliking Yurina. Overall the biggest issue was the xenophobia that Mnet that fed up to the audience (national and international). C girls were evil/greedy and J girls (just like in Produce) were untalented. I'm happy that the C girls have a beautiful sisterly bond that helped them go through this. I really hope this experience doesn't put a toll on Yaning's mental health. As for you who supported the girls on gp999 ,do it also outside of it. You might feel bad for them not making it ,but you will feel worse for not supporting them in their future. The screentime was always something I was interested about. Some people were clearly featured more, and some less often. Even within the debut group, who theoretically would have had the most screentime, there were huge differences. I've been making a series on my channel where I count the screentime each Kep1er member had in each episode, and when I tell you it surprises me every time, I'm not joking. It's crazy how much the show pushed some contestants more than others, or restricted some people's screentime to evil editing.

i feel like having su ruiqi, hikaru, yurina, xiaoting, bahiyyih, fu yaning, and yujin in one group would definitely take the public by storm. they just have that charm that attracts people and leaves them wanting to know more. bahiyyih, for example, isn't outstanding in terms of skills but she has the 'it factor' that makes her a stan attractor. xiaoting, yurina and yujin also have a vibe that the public loves - kinda like twice, you know? very gp-friendly. then there's su ruiqi, hikaru, and yaning whose skills are paired with undeniable stage presence. kep1er, right now, isn't giving what they're supposed to give. they're one of the most anticipated groups, yet their debut (at least to me) is a bit of a let-down.

The cell system was created in order to save the Korean trainees since the most popular candidates were either Chinese or Japanese (Bora was known to the public but I wouldn't say she was a popular contestant and Bahiyyih being the exception but she was hated, yujin was one of the rare Korean contestant being known and appreciated from the public) and it was later on abolished to eliminate the foreign members so more Koreans were in the final lineup.

I think the biggest problem with GP999 was that Mnet didn't want their own global concept to succeed. I don't think they had the support of company execs and the staff obviously faced pressure to sabotage the foreign contestants. I don't think any outcome except a standard majority-Korean group would be good for the winning group, since Mnet didn't want to support any other kind of group. People voted for underrepresented contestants out of spite, but I don't think they considered whether hoping for them to debut under a company that didn't value them was actually good for them. I'll be honest, Cai Bing, Ruiqi, Yaning, and Bahiyyih stand out the most to me as contestants that Mnet absolutely didn't want despite their popularity. The Chinese contestants probably dodged a bullet by not ending up under Mnet, but Bahiyyih will really have to start making them money for her to get the same opportunities as many of her group members.

A lot of people shallowly supported Yurina because of the Xiaorina ship, and it showed by the time one-pick voting happened. I feel like more people on the timeline were upset about the ship not living on rather than Yurina debuting, or they used Yurina's name to throw hate on Bahiyyih and weren't actually Yurina fans (and sometimes Dayeon) and say Xiaoting looked unhappy and sad (which I can write a whole f-ing essay about how that's not okay, but there's no time). Mnet also tried to push her as main vocalist material too, and when it was clear she wasn't (tried to turn it around with "look at how hard she works! Isn't Yurina amazing!"😍 + not showing the praise for the main vocalists material sitting _right next to her_ that they ignored because they were Chinese or Japanese but not Yurina 😐), it kinda soured her image a little to casual voters.

In terms of Kep1er, I actually like the current lineup. That isn't to say other lineups would have been better or worse, but seeing other videos involving the current members, you can see how well the members get along with one another, and for me that is something that matter more than saying "this member should have made it" or "that member doesn't deserve to be in the group." As long as the girls are happy with each other, there is nothing I can do to change it and I will continue to support and follow them. That being said, watching the show made me furious with how Mnet treated the girls on the show, how they showed blatant favoritism for certain girls or tried to paint some girls (mostly foreign contestants) in a very negative light. And don't get me started on the cell system. I think it was a very bad addition to the show, especially since they only used it for a single voting round and then got rid of it entirely. Like, why highlight something so heavily and then get rid of it as soon as you weed out the competition? I know it helped keep things even between the participating countries, but having to rely on your cellmates when some may not be popular and your fate being in their hands is pretty stupid. As for the voting system, part of kind of gets it, but part of me is also very disappointed in it. Think about it, this is a group that will mainly promote in Korea so it makes sense that the Korean vote may weigh more than the international vote. But that being said, we all knew that with the voting system they implemented, the Korean contestants would be heavily favored by the Korean public, essentially diminishing the international contestants' chances of making it to the final lineup. Had they kept the 3-3-3 system in place, we may have had a very different final lineup. What I wish Mnet had done was keep the planet pass through to the final episode. Like, instead of having a final 9 member group, the planet pass could have been used by the mentors to make the final lineup a 10 or even a 12 member group. That way we could have had professionals help round out the final lineup while also giving those contestants that showed significant promise and talent a second chance to make it to the final lineup. Seems like a missed opportunity if you ask me. And don't get me started on Mnet favoring boy programs over girl programs, using the girl programs as a blueprint to make their inevitable boy sequels. It's stupid, sexist, and very unfair to these promising girl trainees to have to be the guinea pigs for this network. Anyway, rant over, if you stayed to the end, I apologize for typing so much :-)

Honestly GP999 was the shadiest idol competition show I've ever watched.. Chinese trainees were set to fail from the beginning, the demo selections, the scandals.. and notice how ruiqi having that weird gray coloyr hair and Yaning had these beautiful black hair on the intro but somehow the stylist made them looks average looking throughout the shows.. and the keep pushing the Korean trainees are more talented.. most of the Japanese and Chinese trainees were overlooked.. Dayeon is literally only slightly above average girl but they made it that she was the best ace, even in HYLT stage, they never mentioned her mistake but pointed out Xiaoting's centre that was less 'attractive'.. and oohhh the Japanese trainees had no air times at all.. The point is that boy group survival shows lose talented and popular trainees too, and you're never going to see people still so openly bitter and hateful about it like you will with a girl group survival show result. When dislikes were still enabled, Wonyoung's first place result on Produce was the most heavily disliked video in Produce History. Bahiyyih had a petition against her to get her out of the group. People are saying Dayeon was rigged into the group, and making conspiracy theories about her. And don't even get me started about the way My Teenage Girl exposes the bias for the visuals of actual children in this industry, and the hate both contestants and judges get for it. I'm not saying men and boys in survival shows don't face hate and criticism too - not at all! I am saying, however, that you'll never see people actively blaming one contestants for another one not debuting and having that being the popular and acceptable narrative from a boy group survival show like you would with a girl group survival show. This "took her spot" narrative is pervasive, and the hate some Kep1er members get for it is frankly unsettling and abnormal.

I think one huge thing you left out was how Xiaoting was ranked 1 for literally every official vote by fans till the finals where she barely made it as 9th. There was another thing I noticed/thought was weird with voting on the universe app. On the last day of the voting cycle, I voted when there was like 22 hours left to vote. I checked that app again when there was two hours left for voting to check who voted for because I forgot lol, and I noticed that my vote reset as if I hadn’t voted that day. So I voted again. I thought it was weird and may be a glitch with my phone. The next week on the last day of the voting cycle I tried to see if it was still an issue and it was I took a screenshot when I first voted that day with 11 hours left. A week or two before the finale, viewers were given 1 VOTE. Then they released the preliminary top 9. The day before the finale, viewers were given another vote. The day of the finale, viewers were given another vote (which was double or triple i think) while the finale is being aired. It's not fishy or suspicious. They did ask viewers to vote multiple times, probably because they were disappointed in the results too.

They literally spent 85% of their budget on building the set of gp999, and 15% on the outfits for the girls’ performances What shocked me the most was when you said the girls had to stay awake for about 30-40 hours STRAIGHT. My jaw dropped 10 feet! And the fact that they had to send the shoot! team to dayeon’s house to meet her MOM, was just ridiculous and random to me. Dayeon wasn’t even in the shoot! team, which made everything even more weird. I'm not surprised people fell for mnet's evil editing with cai bing. A lot of people already hated her and were waiting for a got you moment, unfortunately, mnet gave it to them on a silver platter. I was initially really disappointed in cai bing but the more I processed the situation the less sense it made. Cai bing deserved so much better. C girls deserved better in general but cai bing IMO got the worst of it. I can't say I have mixed feelings about the final lineup and I've long made peace with any problems I had. I'm not happy with how much the kvotes amounted for though. Int fans made the show and I think we should've been given fairer tools. It’s no surprise, they did it to Caí Bing of the Salute practice with mistranslations and making her look as greedy for saying she worked alone in the choreography. They most likely were giving her an interview and asked her different things and then edit it to look as if she had mouthed Hikaru. MNET is known to do that in order to make other member get ángel edit to have them most likely debut on the group. It’s normal in survival shows that the company produces, which is fucked up to think they messed up Caí Bing’s, Fu Yaning, Liang Jiao and Se In’s chances to have possibly debut.

During episodes 1-8, I supported Dayeon, because I know she deserves to debut. After episode 9, I never cared for her, because I know Mnet will not let her not debut and it was their intention to debut Dayeon. Even when she was announced as part of the debut lineup, I never cared about it (even until now they debuted) because I know it was Mnet's intention. Don't get me wrong, I still think Dayeon deserves to debut, but the way Mnet pushed her to the debut team is so wrong. I hated Mnet for that. Since episode 9, GP999 is all about Dayeon, the other contestants just fade away in the background. They even destroyed Cai Bing's reputation and future career to push Dayeon for the debut team. HOW EVIL WAS THAT? Again, this was not Dayeon's fault. IT IS MNET'S. But due to her excessive screentime, I just don't care for her at all, whether she debuted or not, I don't care. Whenever Kep1er posts content, I just skipped Dayeon's part because I don't want to hate her, because whenever I saw her, I just remember Cai Bing and how she going to pursue her dream.

Same here. I cant really like her at all. And they way things are going they are still pushing her, giving her a lot of center parts and vocal lines in the debut title track. Its annoying. No matter how much they try to push her shes not getting the attention of the public, her fan cam views says so. If they really want to push a k member why not push chaehyun, the p01 afterall.

@@sofia-qe3rg Agreed with this. Their debut song is not bad, it just doesn't fit Chaehyun at all. One of the reason why the previous Mnet survival groups have successful debuts is because their debut song matches the Center and was able to bring balance to the whole group. Their debut song just screams "Dayeon" and overshadows the other members' potentials, ruining the group's balance.

I personally feel that in the end mnet found a way to still manipulate the voting outcome. I also wish they stuck to the 3-3-3 ratio just to give each nationality an equal opportunity. I was really looking forward to this group being the 1st to ever be formed this way but sadly it was too good to be true.

Besides the unfair weight of each vote and manipulative editing, I really think they didn't do anything to the votes themselves. The lineup wouldn't be the way it is now if it was up to mnet.

Along with some other girls, You Dayeon was completely robbed. She can rap, sing, and dance, but was highly overlooked. Her instagram and youtube channel have so much evidence of this, and seeing her elimination was heartbreaking. The cell strategy was a stupid decision from the beginning. Each contestant was not advancing because of their own strengths alone, & if they didn't have a dedicated fanbase, it would show in the final votings. I think the show had many flaws, including the horrible mistreatment of Japanese & Chinese contestants, and I would rather not see the cell concept again.

Yaning and Ruiqi has the 4th Biggest Fanbase Internationally but because of Korean votes they weren't able to Debut, Yaning and Ruiqi was literally rigged I swear, they literally has one of the biggest fanbase. The Ratio would have been 4K-3C-2J

I feel like the reason why there is only one Chinese Trainee that debuted with Kep1er is because they kept the other Chinese trainees in the finale who are not appreciated or hated in South Korea which we know the voting system gave the Korean viewers more power than International Fans.

I'll always be upset about Momoko Okazaki. I follow her since she debuted in sakura gakuin and she had SO MUCH to offer... Mnet barely gave her screen time and made her cellmates dirty (specially Kim Sein). Even if she had a pretty big personal fanbase (she won first place in the vitamins thingy), it was a lost battle with those cellmates): I hope we can see more of her in the future

I was really sad we lost Yurina but , I'm really glad the girls that made it did they seem like they mesh really well. Even my boyfriend who doesn't like kpop that much was watching a Kepler video with me and said the only people that seemed ' out of place' was the unnie line ( Xiaoting , mashiro and yujin) I explained that they were older and also that two were " foreigners" and he immediately understood.. he also said he really loves bahiyyih s personality because she seems the most 'real'

The signs of Mnet manipulation were evident since episode 1. It was pretty clear who they wanted to debut. Right from the demo stages they paired trainees together so that some would shine. Xiaoting gave an amazing performance in Rumor, but she stood out so much because she was paired with trainees of much lower ranks. Same with Yurina (some even say Mnet used autotune on her, but I'm not sure about that). Suyeon was given the orange pants so that she could rise up against K1 and K2 and seem like the underdog. Look at Kep1er, except for Bahiyyih and possibly Chaehyun (her demo stage was evil edited, her voice cracked but Mnet made it seem even worse by zooming on her face), all the others are from demo stages that were hyped up by the masters and by Mnet. Pop stars, Boombayah, Rumor, Crazy, Kick it, Bubble pop, Dumdi Dumdi... they were all hyped. During the show the color scheme for outfits also painted the "main characters". Look at purple of How you like that against that ugly yellow of the other group. Same with purple against pink in Fiesta and red against green in Yes or Yes. It was like they already decided who would win when giving them the outfits. Not to mention trainees that always got gorgeous outfits (like Shen Xiaoting), while others got ugly ones (like Bahiyyih in Shoot). It has always been clear who Mnet wanted to debut. I'm 100% sure their ideal lineup would put Bora instead of Chaehyun and Yurina instead of Bahiyyih. The others were exactly who they wanted. Just one Chinese member, the one loved by Koreans, because China is acting up again. Overall I do like the fact that there was no fixed ratio. Otherwise trainees would only be fighting among their own group. But not having a fixed ratio means giving ALL of them the same opportunity, which Mnet clearly didn't. If all of them were treated fairly, without evil editing, without cell system, without favoritism and with fair screentime distribution, then there would be no need of a 3:3:3 ratio. They would compete against each other and the most popular would win no matter their nationality. It's why I would have preferred the 1 pick voting system had been implemented since the beginning, so that people wouldn't have been forced to vote for filler picks and people would have had the full picture of who was actually popular. Also no 50% power of voting to Koreans. For a group that is only relying on international popularity (and be honest, Kep1er is doing exactly this), that wasn't fair.

Mnet didn't just evil edit some trainees, they also brought people to like exactly the people they wanted. Dayeon, Xiaoting and Yeseo benefitted from this a lot. Also Yurina, but it wasn't enough for her to debut. Chaehyun and Bahiyyih coming first and second is just a slap in the face of everything Mnet tried to build up XD

I'm actually surprised that the creator of this video never mentioned Hiyyih's screen time cause that was one the most noticeable signs of mnets manipulation apart from the angel and evil editing. Like you said they clearly didn't want her in the line, but for me the craziest thing is that out of the group Chaehyun and Bahiyyih were ranked the lowest when the show started, yet the both finished as ranks 1 and 2.

Girl, they are the ones who made it without Mnet's support. They are the ones who Mnet couldn't stop. And for the ones who accuse Bahiyyih of everything: just look at Kep1er now. The group has just won their first win relying only on physical sales, whose individual fandom do you think did that? Bahiyyih and Chaehyun made it despite Mnet, but people still blame Mnet for them debuting even if the girls they wanted to rank higher had been pushed by the same Mnet they hate so much. I adore Kep1er's lineup and I wouldn't change a thing, but it's a fact some girls had Mnet's support and it's not only Daeyeon. Dayeon was just the most evident.

I feel really bad for Cai Bing. They framed her as the a villain even though all groups had issues. You can even see that her group and her made up in the end by how they hugged each other, but MNET only broadcasted things that made her look bad. The show was nice to her until they realized that her overwhelming popularity would have gotten her to the final lineup and they didn't want that.

This show is just so messy, like how the butchered the C trainees, J trainees are basically invisible and so much favoritism to K trainees. The weight of votes were also unfair considered the show was literally carried by int viewers, inconsistency of cell system, having an established fandom backing a contestant from the start, and etc. Mnet need to fix all these problems for their boys planet later. The final line up isn't bad but could be better. I do think mnet was very lucky that Xiaoting barely made it to the line-up. Cause if not, that will break the whole premise of the show. What the narrator said abt the cracking down of fandom culture in China was an understatement. While they might not made a tremendous numbers of sale anymore, but they still bring significant boost for sales, 100k+ is easily done by fandoms there.
