I went on a field trip to Alcatraz in 3rd grade. A flying turtle bit me, and 2 kids ended up in the hospital after they got hit by a fire bar. Glad to finally see it portrayed accurately in a video game.

@Kosmic, The way to the next levels is in the last room where you were trying to enter the right wall on the way down in to the pit. I remember it being kind of janky, but I think you just run off of the left side and hold right. It has been a year or more since I played this hack. I remember the next levels being much more difficult (aka kaizo territory). I'm glad you finally played this. This was one of my rom hack suggestions early on. Still enjoying rom hack Wed!!!

It's tricky to spot, but the false walls are a slightly different tile pattern. The intended solution for 3-4 looks like false walls left of the last high bill launcher

13:28 it's actually very obvious if you defocus you eyes slightly. the white line on the bottom lights up the whole tile. but there are multiple spots where they didn't color the false walls properly.

I love how when you watch/play a lot of Rom hacks you see a lot of elements that are used in multiple hacks made by multiple people. It's such a wonderful community of people building off of each other's work to make great transformative art.

Somehow, even with all of the cheap kills and trolls, the music manages to be the most annoying part of this hack. Kind of sad, since it got so many other things right. The part where that pipe was just barely onscreen is a shining example.

Your videos encouraged me to try to find a Mario type game on my iPhone. There are several, but two I found that have some interesting features like showing your previous run’s ghost and time limit challenges. They are “Unforgiven” which has crazy jump physics and “Speedrun”. Both decent in their own right. Anyone know of a way to play SM3 on iPhone?

I think it's a great mechanic. You can see a subtle difference. Not everything should be given to the player with such obvious cues. It also fits in well with the theme of looking for cracks to escape from prison
