I really think it has little to do with “woke” or “feminist” backlash. I actually, for example, didn’t hate the girl power moment in end game. I think I am apathetic just line I became apathetic to DC because of the lower quality in the films. I’ll see it eventually, but at a discount at home. There are so many reasons compounding on each other for this, but I’d say it has little to do with the cast of this movie and largely because of the track record of the MCU leading up to this movie release

It’s always the fans/audiences fault that an incompetent director screwed up and bailed before release, that the editing team had so much crap to work with they cut the movie down to under two hours, that the dialogue is cringe, the acting is barely passable, or that we thought a good marketing trick would be to stream a cat cafe for 8 hours. Yep. It’s all our fault. That’s the thing that all the attack dogs forget about, we had nothing to do with it. The entire production team from writers and editors to CEOs and sponsors. Nobody anywhere stop to say “this is shit, we should stop”.

The MCU was my entire childhood and early teens. I'm still classified as a 'baby' in this world. That's not the point im trying to make. What I'm trying to say is that when I watched the movies, I never thought about the actors/morals. I only thought, "IT'S IRON MAN!" or "HERE COMES THOR!". I could never remember the actors' names because they weren't that important to me. I remembered the character, and I loved the movies. The only actor I remembered was Robert Downey Jr. because he was Iron Man (Iron Man is my favorite) and I am a junior too. The dumb and fun reasons for enjoying things as a kid is now frowned upon. It is sad and stupid how people just expect their children to "grow up" or understand the world before they're even 16/17. Never would I ever want that slop being fed to my child. You should remember that a lot of the early Phase 4 films, like Eternals and Shang-Chi, were impacted by Covid as well. That isn't really an excuse for The Marvels though.
