They ARE following the comics though, all the ones that failed way back in 2010ish to current day. The ones that have been sparking all the comicsgate grass roots nonsense, think the comics started getting really bad around 2015? or so? Point is, they are making movies about characters or version of characters from comics that failed and then are wondering why the movies are doing bad. Moreover they added extra layers of failure to it by parading around the tropes and "traits" of what caused those comics to fail and saying how great these movies are going to be due to them focusing on the worst parts of those stories. There is likely some world where the failed comics from the last decade could actually work, but that would require real talent and to introduce the themes and topics without blatently pandering.

I like your video and all your points, but the only thing I don’t understand is why everyone insists that Marvel requires homework now. Knowing Kamala or Monica’s backstory didn’t change your ability to understand the very simple plot of the film. I actually prefer movies that give the audience a bit of credit in figuring things out. I never saw the Hulk movie, but that didn’t matter. What I never want to go back to is all characters needing long boring origin story movies in order to be introduced.

This really seems like one of the few times were Dragon Ball Super did something right. When the multiverse was introduced, the universes were merely different regions of the cosmos. You could fly straight in any direction and you'd inevitably cross the border even if it'd take you forever. The different gods of destruction were ACTUALLY unique and not just "variants" of the same asshole. The universes in DB Super were different enough that the Gods didn't mind to make games out of multiversal visits. Like the tournament of destroyers. Anyone else remember when most media considered different dimensions to be a different universe? I miss that, it gave more to explore than the same predictable bullshit.

Each of the twelve universes in Dragon Ball Super has there own mirror universe, with alternate versions of characters in that universe. Universe 7/6 has Beerus/Champa, Whis/Vados, Goku/Caulifla, Vegeta/Cabba, Frieza/Frost, Broly/Kale, etc. In some cases, there were just gender swaps; of course, there were still there own distinct characters.

I grew up reading the iron man comics. I have a whole closet filled with those things. Loved the mcu in the beginning and up to infinity war. Watched the first couple after infinity war and haven't seen any show or movie besides the first 2. The mcu nowadays is like watching the VMAs, I have no idea who any of these random characters are. The "Why watch a movie when it comes to streaming" isn't... ENTIRELY... new. It's an existing thing that streaming exacerbated. There were people before that would skip theaters, and just wait for a DVD/VHS release in 6 ish months or so. Streaming cut that time down, however I'm 36 in the last decade I've had plenty of movies where I'd just say "I'll redbox that later". Mix inflation, high cost of seeing movies in person, waiting 3/4 months on streaming and people who WEREN'T "I'll wait to rent it" have now become that. Not just with Disney/Marvel either, HBO and Paramount have those same issues. Some titles are big enough of a draw to put butts in seats but more and more and more and more unless you're a childrens movie or Keanu Reeves fewer people bother with going to cinema.

yeah my husband waited till Asoka was done then we subbed for a month he watched that show and i sat down to see just how bad some movies like Little Mermaid really were. The only movie we have gon to see in over 5 yrs was Avatar, the rest is watched at home. I have to many pain issues to be able to sit in the theater (we arent lucky enough to have the super nice theaters) comfortably for 2-3hrs often besides the snacks prices and the theater prices for 2 adults is dumb. We usually only get a slushy cause i love them and bring in snacks in my purse cause there is no way im paying 5+ for something i can get for less than a dollar at walmart

I’m not a fan of modern Marvel and phase 4 and 5 of the MCU either but this desire to paint Shang Chi as a massive flop and Simu Liu as struggling is silly and embarrassing. I thought Shang Chi was a dumb movie but for a COVID era release it performed just fine. And the idea that Simu Liu can’t get work somehow is ridiculous. You said one of the biggest reason some movies just don’t do as good in general…if a person has most of these streaming services (which I do) he/she can skip the 30-50 dollar movie trip wait 2-3 months and get the movie in the comfort of there own home (which I do)….this rule looks like it only doesn’t apply to movies doing really good in theaters so instead of 2-3 months it’s more like 4-5 months but it will still end up on a streaming service…only thing the movie theater good for is the experience 🤷🏾‍♂️

The Marvels needed around 900 million to break even, let that sink in. They spent at least 250 million making this movie, we know it was higher if we look at how much they usually over shoot their budget it’s safe to say another 100 million on top of that. Then advertising is usually the same as the cost of the movie which means but let’s be generous to them and say another 100 million. That means 450 million was spent on this movie. The box office needs to produce double the 450 million since theaters take at least a 50 percent cut in profit. Usually 45-50 percent in the US box office then 55 percent international and 75 percent in China goes to theaters. If Disney pulls the movie early the theaters take a larger chunk of profit.
