Fun fact: when the show was revived in 2005, there were some issues getting the rights to use the Daleks in the show (they are in very high demand), so they created the Toclafane as a form of replacement that would have served as the enemy of the Time Lords in the Time War just in case they wouldn't be able to use actual Daleks...but then the idea ended up becoming scrapped when they did get the green light to use real Daleks. However, it is interesting that they eventually found another use for them this time around, albeit in a very different capacity than initially planned.

Can we all have a HUGE moment of appreciation for my boy Murray Gold? His soundtrack for this season is absolutely insane. That song that plays during the Gallifrey flashback is called This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood. Our Home. It's an insane piece of music. The drum beat for it is the ticking of a clock. Amazing. Not to mention Martha's Theme and All the Strange, Strange Creatures, which are also incredible. I'm so thrilled he's back working on the show.

So the doctor said he locked the tardis between the end of the universe and basically the modern day for the time give or take 18 months. Love & Monsters is where they put the first reference of Mr Saxon on the paper the absorbalorff's paper (quite hard to see) and it was the last episode of series 2 to be filmed. Its possible Russell put that in on purpose and if true he thought of this last second to tie into series 3 or it wasnt intentional but just a name lol
@therealpbristow14 күн бұрын
If it was the last one filmed, then RTD would have been well into laying out plans for the next season by then, so I'd say it's deliberate. "Hey guys, can we quickly reprint that newspaper with a different name in the headline? Make it "Saxon"... S, A, X, O, N... You can? Great, that'll save me 3 seconds of CGI having to fix it in post." =:o}
@Venemofthe88813 күн бұрын
@therealpbristow I think it was the last one filmed due to the kids competition at the time and in filming blocks it's the last one so it must have been deliberately done

52:30. I don't know why the Doctor made that remark. He does know Martha's feelings and Jack's, so pretending he doesn't notice with that particular statement seems cruel. What is the motivation? I love how you always see Martha and think about how things feel for her.

@IggyStardust196714 күн бұрын
25:30 - This "Perception Filter" was kinda loosely based on something from the Douglas Adams novels of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.... the S.E.P. Field. Basically, it's your brain ignoring something right in front of you, because it's S.E.P. ..... "Somebody Else's Problem". Your brain filters it out and ignores it... because if it were to become "your problem", then YOU would have to deal with it. The concept is absolutely BRILLIANT, if you think about it. (minor spoiler: ) The S.E.P. wasn't touched on in the BBC Series for Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy... but it's in the book series. If you haven't seen the mini-series from 1980, I **HIGHLY** recommend it! Ignore that Hollywood abomination/adaption.... it's horrible. The BBC miniseries, however, is comedy GOLD! I've tried to watch the Hollywood version but couldn't make it more than 10 minutes before having to turn it off. It just takes itself too seriously. The BBC miniseries is the right amount of "campy humour" that the books convey very well.

Well since the old woman from Torchwood went by Lucy's records as well as the Master's going by her history she has a good family and Lucy not being incredibly bright I think it's very much clear that she's not an alien and that she's just a human under the Master's influence wanting power. The Toclafane were originally intended to be the replacement for the Daleks incase they didn't get permission by the Terry Nation estate to use them in the series when the show returned in 2005 thankfully of course that never happened.

People sometimes say "it's the rhythm of the theme tune; We've been hearing it right from 1963!", but it's never been quite true. The theme starts off with repetitions of three main beats - one long, two short - but with a softer lead-in note (called a "grace note") before the first of those; it then switches to *five* to groups of *five* notes: The 4 rapid ones that people equate with the Master's drums, but still with that grace note leading into them.

For those in the know, Martha's line about the Master being the Doctor's secret brother is a call back to what was supposed to happen at the end of the Third Doctor's run. While I'm not entirely certain about the endgame, which had been slowly building for the previous few seasons, the Master was supposed to die in Three's final story, after which it would have been revealed that he was, in fact, the Doctor's brother. The unexpected death of original Master actor Roger Delgado (drove off a cliff in Turkey), nixed the plans, and we wouldn't see the Master again until Tom Baker's third season.
@therealpbristow14 күн бұрын
...Except that the "brother" bit is fan myth, and Letts and Dicks have both denied it was ever the plan. They *were* however planning to have the Master sacrifice himself to save the Doctor/the situation/whatever. Later, one of the scripts prepared for the 1996 TV Movie included having the Doctor and Master be brothers, but that whole script was (mercifully!) scrapped. (It was a horrendous pile of cliches!)

theres a lot of OP nonsense in doctor who. psychic paper which is like a key to get past any guard, sonic screw driver which can open any door, hack any computer.... so they had to make up this concept of things being deadlocked so it wont work because they realize they have all these get out of jail free cards. perception filter is just a convenient way they can kinda do stealth without needing some kinda fancy tech or cgi. imo they are all kinda cheap and makes for lazy writing. while i do like the sonic i understand why in classic who they had a period where the writers felt the same way it was felt too cheap over the doctor having to actually use his wit or macgyver his way out of stuff

If the Master had his opportunity he would almost certainly kill the Doctor although the Master sometimes has abit of a respected working friendship with the Doctor The Master is an extreme narcissist and only looks out for number 1 so he wouldn't hesitate to kill the Doctor had he had his way.
