@@geemcspankinson oh yeah; they had virtual headbands, synchronized devices, and multi-screen gaming systems back in the 80’s? No. Lol. Of course kids were gaming then, but there were no tablets or cell phones. These kids couldn’t walk a step without using some kinda electronic device. A whole different level from the 80’s.
@geemcspankinson11 ай бұрын
@@FORTYSHIPS Never heard of a virtual headband, synchronized devices are for images, multi-screen gaming systems are for rich kids. Even back in the 40s "family time" was becoming tv-together time, not to mention radio before that. And after calls became cheap teens were constanstly on the phone talking with each other.
@FORTYSHIPS11 ай бұрын
@@geemcspankinson There are VR gaming devices now, and they were in the movie as well (I called them virtual head bands as they did more than just gaming; the seemed to be used in communication as well. They were not in use in the 80’s, however (to refute your point). Synchronized devices apply to both video and audio applications, not just visuals (feel free to fact check that). Multi screen gaming platforms are prominent in many places, not just with ‘rich kids’. People wealthier may have more ideal setups, where as people with lesser means will use older or repurposed equipment. I’ve seen this and I’m basing on personal knowledge of people I know doing this who aren’t wealthy. My bigger point was that the kids were tied into multiple electronic devices simultaneously, and in Marty jr’s case, was actively watching more than one channel at a time. I know that no one I knew as a kid back in the 90’s was engaged in anything like that, but today there are. That’s a far cry from the whole family gathering around collectively to watch a television program together; it’s more individualized today, with people almost oblivious to the presence of others around them. That part is well represented in the movie. There’s just a good amount of parallels between those concepts in the movie and life today.
@geemcspankinson11 ай бұрын
@@FORTYSHIPS Who cares, you don't look at synchronized images on apple cloud is my point. Multi monitors really are a privilige. Are you sure this isn't selection bias because you use computers much or because you live in a rich place? Who has family time when they are using more than two screens anyways? The american nuclear family eating tv dinners was always a lie. You are looking at a movie that was looking through a commercialized nostalgia lens through your own commercialized nostalgia lens. The fact of the matter is and will be that the moment you do something more focus-intensive than eating you won't connect with fellow family as well as before. Watching tv while channel surfing is only very, very marginally better than watching a phone while watching a single tv show. There is no parallel, it is literally the same thing.

The reason old George is upside down and threw his back out is because the actor from the first film asked for a million dollars more for his payment. The directors said no and decided to write him out of the film as dead -- but people saw it as a sour point. So they have him in this scene, hanging upside down, because 1) it's a different actor and it's harder to recognize faces upside down 2) if the original actor came back, he'd be stuck upside down for the rest of the movie.
