So I actually watched this video and became curious as to the origin of memes and their relevance in our generation. I'm unsure whether or not Dan had this knowledge but, this video is that much more amusing if you take into account the origin of the actual word "meme" Richard Dawkins coined the term in 1976 in chapter 11 of his book "The Selfish Gene" as an actual theory on the evolution of social exchanges between people. Much of Dan's ideology in this video actually aligns pretty well with the points Dawkins made about the intended definition of "meme" in his book. I would highly recommend the book if this video was interesting to you or if you have interest in genetics! Not to mention there are some lines from the book that are hilarious in modern context. Such as, "We are built as gene machines and cultured as meme machines," or "The survival value of the god meme in the meme pool results from its great psychological appeal."
