The weird thing is that just 10 years ago using "Imagery" was considered "Woo-woo" nonsense. Glad to see the idea gaining greater acceptance.

10 years ago they called it visualization. Now they have repackage it and come up with a new name for that same technique.

I used to be really fat. I had 390lbs in September last year, and when I saw that number it was way more than I thought it is. I was really mad at myself. It really hit me hard, and I realised I got to do something. Not just sit and wait for problem to resolve itself. It was a life changing decision, because I have probably been on the verge of developing some serious health condition... So at first I got my diet plan created on a site NextLevel Diet, which was super helpful to me. In the first two months of following my eating plan I lost 42 lbs. And by February of this year another 40, for the total of 80lbs in 5 months... After that I started slowly exercising. First just by walking, and eventually I joined a gym and now I go five days a week, still walking on the weekends. I realised that I am stronger than I ever thought I have been. Never had any confidence, and now I can run, do burpees, do push-ups... I take these small victories!!

I love your video's and I think the start of this one had a great intro in drawing parallels between improving physically and getting mentally more fit. So I personally would love to see more on that. Your previous content on meditation, no mobile phone usage and social awkwardness were on the soft skills, but I really enjoyed them, also because I think most off us do recognise ourselves in these struggles as well. So as to keep in line with the coming content, thanks a lot for the great video's you've produced,... (that's one out of 3 for today :)

As university athlete and something that was stressed to us often was how repetition of any movement reinforces the pathway for that impulse in your brain. Repetition literally builds up insulation on that neural pathway in order to help you do it faster with less effort. Of course the exact same is true for other things that happen in our brain like thoughts or memories or ideas. The more we think about things or consider things in the same way, the easier and faster it is for us to use those neural pathways again. That's why visualization was a huge key to athletic success. Thinking you'll make a shot reinforces the same pathways as actually doing it. The more we think optimistically, the easier it is to do unconsciously. The same is true for pessimism...

Wait is that actually true that is awesome I thought that was just some stupid thing people said but didn't actually have a connection to actually doing the thing Also when u said unconsciously did you mean subconsciously

Keeping a gratitude journal with my kids every morning (we use The Five Minute Journal) has been a great way to intentionally start the day with a positive mindset, but for me there's greater power/potential in the use of visualization and imagery. I love the book 'Personality Isn't Permanent' by Benjamin Hardy which talks about visualizing your future self (daily journaling again) and allowing that focus to gradually help you adopt all those attributes. One important twist I picked up from a Mel Robbins podcast recently was exactly what to focus on when you visualize. Instead of visualizing the end goal (eg living in your dream house) and expecting that to 'manifest' itself, it's important to visualize your actions that lead to the achievement of that goal (eg developing the habit of working your butt off in a strategic and focused way, every day). My mindset is definitely still a work-in-progress, but I know it's something I'll have to work on for the rest of my life.

I have a sheet we’re in the morning I write three things that I’m grateful for three things that would make this day amazing and three things that I like in myself sometimes but I’ve learned sometimes you learn things in your sleep or when you wake up in the morning and then at night three amazing things that happened that they even if they were really tiny and thin three things that would’ve made the day even better not as a put down, but to set yourself up for the next day and what i learned. I’ve never tried the why they happened and I always have a hard time doing it at night. I don’t know how stick to that. Loved this thank you

I've always been an optimist and I've always tried to teach my brother about it (he is really negativ). Sometimes it works, but he could never write or visualize good things, that's a bit too ahead. So maybe remember that those are great tools, but it dosen't mean that they'll work for everybody. Try it and if it work, that's great, if it doesn't, do not think that it's our fault or that it's too late... it's just not what is meant for you and that's okay ;)

I’ve tried the “writing down good things that happened today” exercise and also just journaling. Idk if I’ve just been such a negative person in the past that I’d just end up thinking about how more negative things had happened than positives.

I think the point isn't "there's no bad thing" but "focus on the good ones", you can have problems, big one, but if you only focus on them, you'll never be happy. Also, journaling can be only bad things, the point here is only to clear up your mind, put it all down on paper (or laptop idk), so that's not a big deal if you only write bad things, it can also help you to think about it another way and find a solution. However, if you really have a lot of problems, try resolving it by seing specialists like a psychologist/psychiatrist if it's mental, doctor if it's physical, etc. Help is always good :) Anyway, just by the fact your trying, I can tell that you're gonna make it. Keep going!

Have you considered just shifting the 3 good things exercise to the next morning? I know morning pages are a helpful way to start the day, this may be a good way to develop both habits. Start with 3 good things as a prompt, free journal from there, then get moving.

You talking about mental health reminds me of the bioneer a very good channel he talks about philosophical and mental fitness and also if you want to gain muscle you need to be in a surplus of 500 yes you get some fluff but that’s to be expected and recomp afterwards I’m no expert but revival fitness is a very good channel but if you are into general fitness you don’t have to do it

haha ... gosh you now make it so obvious ... duh! we don't do mental fitness ... we can it's good for us i.e. beneficial ... nope, still ain't going to do consistenly ... so now the issue is how to introduce a new desired habit ? ... that is the *real* challenge here right ... the key to me is design triggers of tiny habit ... maybe do it brushing your teeth and just think of 1 thing of gratitude ...start from there .... key I've learned is consistency wins, making it rewarding e.g it's fun or feel better so it becomes easy to do everyday ... do the thinking part, but let the doing part take over & do its job! haha 😁
