My favorite part of the Quran is found in Surat Al Furqaan, when Allah says He forgives those who repent from the major sins, but also that the sins they committed (if they're sincere in repentance) are swapped for good deeds. SubhanAllah, what beautiful hope...

Assalamualaikm, jazak Allah fir the beautiful explanation. I always thought about that why is it that Allah has got 99 names because it is a number and is limited, maybe possible there are others and here ustad says there are more than 99 names of Allah, subhan Allah.. also it is said that prophet s.a.w on the day of judgement will praise Allah in a manner that no one has ever praised Allah so i thought maybe rasool s.a.w will be taught the other names of Allah at that time and then the judgment will begin..

Important Notes of The Message of The Quran Part 18: Surah Al-Furqān and Surah Al-Shu`arā Section-2 Personal note: السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته This is Section-2 of the Notes. Section-1, Section-3, and Section-4 are commented in different comments as the notes are too long to be commented on in one comment. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Contents of Surah Al-Furqān - Concluding Passage: تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجًا وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا سِرَٰجًا وَقَمَرًا مُّنِيرًا (25:61) Blessed is the One Who has placed constellations in the sky, as well as a ˹radiant˺ lamp and a luminous moon. (25:62) And He is the One Who causes the day and the night to alternate, ˹as a sign˺ for whoever desires to be mindful or to be grateful. Then Allah starts listing the characteristics of servants of Ar-Rahman. (25:63)The ˹true˺ servants of the Most Compassionate are those who walk on the earth humbly, and when the foolish address them ˹improperly˺, they only respond with peace. They have good manners even with those who are foolish and ill-mannered. The servants don’t stoop down to their level. The servants pray the Night Prayer (Tahajjud). The one who prays in the middle of night will for sure have the level of God-Consciousness to pray the other mandatory prayers. It takes your prayers to the next level. Praying it once a week is better than never praying it at all. We should try to put this habit in us. The servants of Ar-Rahman are those who stay away from major sins. And even if they commit them, they repent sincerely. There is always a way to come back to Allah. (25:72) and when they come across falsehood, they pass ˹it˺ by with dignity. They pass by anything that is not befitting the servants of Ar-Rahman. Frivolous activities like Haraam entertainment and anything that has no value are all avoided. They are eager to listen to the Qur’an. One of the signs, therefore, is the eagerness to learn more about the Qur’an and gain Islamic Knowledge. (25:73) ˹They are˺ those who, when reminded of the revelation of their Lord, do not turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to it. Another characteristic is making this Dua. We should all make this Dua. (25:74) ˹They are˺ those who pray, “Our Lord! Bless us with ˹pious˺ spouses and offspring who will be the joy of our hearts, and make us models for the righteous.” The word “إِمَامًا” here means that people should look up to us in terms of piety and should try to be like us. We want to be positive role models. We want people to be inspired by us so that all of us can benefit from each other and collect rewards collectively. This Dua comes at the very end which shows us that if we want to become role models for others, we must follow all the characteristics that came before this. Then, Allah mentions the ultimate reward for the servants of Ar-Rahman. (76) (25:75) It is they who will be rewarded with ˹elevated˺ mansions ˹in Paradise˺ for their perseverance, and will be received with salutations and ˹greetings of˺ peace, (25:76) staying there forever. What an excellent place to settle and reside! The Surah ends with showing the Power of Dua. Allah did not destroy the Quraysh because, even though they committed a lot of evil acts, occasionally they made Dua to Allah. Because of this Dua, Allah is saying that He did not send punishment in this world. But occasionally turning to Allah will not be enough for the Day of Judgement. (25:77) Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “You ˹all˺ would not ˹even˺ matter to my Lord were it not for your faith ˹in Him˺. But now you ˹disbelievers˺ have denied ˹the truth˺, so the torment is bound to come.” If the Quraysh, who rejected the Prophet(SAW), were saved because of occasional Duas, then think how much more we, as believers, could be helped if we increased our Duas. Dua is indeed one of the lifelines we have to Allah. Introduction - Surah Al-Shu`arā: It is an early Makkan Surah. The style is indicative of the early Makkan era, the Ayahs are very small, powerful, and rhythmic. This Surah is one of the longest Makkan Surah in terms of number of Ayahs - 227 Ayahs. But in terms of size, it is a mid-sized Surah - around 10 pages (half a Juz). The bulk of the Surah (95%) is stories, there are different stories mentioned. Between every story the following Ayahs are repeated. It is repeated around 7-8 times in this Surah. (68) (26:67) Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. (26:68) Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. When we go through the Qur’an, Surah Al-Shu`arā is the first out of three consecutive Surahs that begins with the following phrase. The other two Surahs are Surah An-Naml and Surah Al-Qasas. There are only three Surahs in the whole Qur’an that start with this phrase. Some call these as “Tawaaseem” Surahs. (26:1) Ta'. Sin. Mim. Only Allah knows what these letters mean. Most likely, they depict the miraculous nature of the Qur’an. This ends Section-2. Section-1, Section-3, and Section-4 will be posted in different comments. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

Important Notes of The Message of The Quran Part 18: Surah Al-Furqān and Surah Al-Shu`arā Section-3 Personal note: السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته This is Section-3 of the Notes. Section-1, Section-2, and Section-4 are commented in different comments as the notes are too long to be commented on in one comment. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Contents of Surah Al-Shu`arā - Story of Musa(AS): This is the longest story in this Surah - Ayah 10-68. Repetition of stories in the Qur’an is not useless at all - 1. There is no actual repetition in the Qur’an, there is always something different. 2. Everytime Allah gives the story at a different time, there will be a new twist that is not there in the before one. 3. The wordings are so different that each one presents a different facet, you will different even language-wise. 4. In this repetition of stories, there is a striking of the point over and over again so that if people didn’t get it before, they’d understand the point now. In this story of Musa(AS), we learn new information about the story like the following. (19) (26: 18) Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? (26: 19) You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." (22) (26: 20) Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. (26: 22) Now this is the favour that you tauntingly remind me of: that you enslaved the Children of Israel!" Musa(AS) did not cover up or defend, he(AS) accepted and acknowledged the mistake. Then he(AS) takes up the challenge and asks how taking care of one person justifies enslaving and killing Chidren of Isreal. He(AS) is showing that what Fir’aun did was evil and that there is no justification for it. This is the Prophetic manner. We acknowledge the mistake but also stand firm to the original truth. Then Fir’aun mockingly asks who this Lord is. Musa(AS) answers it like it is a sincere question. Fir’aun then attempts to defame Musa(AS) in front of those around him(AS). Musa(AS) still continues answering the question. Fir’aun calls Musa(AS) crazy. Musa(AS) again responds by explaining who the Lord is. Finally, Fir’aun resorts to threats and he says that he will imprison Musa(AS) if he(AS) did not stop. This is the methodology of the people who are fighting the truth. They cannot fight the truth with logical intellectual arguments. So they start by mocking and making fun for people. If that doesn’t work, then they start slurring, name-calling, and disrespecting people. If this also doesn’t work, the final resort for them is threats, misusing laws, and force. This is not the Prophetic methodology. People on truth do not resort to these kind of low-level things to defend themselves, they can speak politely and have intellectual arguments. Then we see the trust that Musa(AS) had in Allah. When Musa(AS) and Bani Israel were running away from Egypt, they came to stop due to the Red Sea which in front of them and there was the army of Fir’aun right behind them. Evidently, there seemed to be no way out. (62) (26:61) and when the groups came face to face, the companions of Moses cried out: "We are overtaken!" (26:62) Moses said: "Certainly not. My Lord is with me; He will direct me." This strong faith of Musa(AS) was rewarded. He(AS) did not know what will happen but he(AS) had faith in Allah. (26:63) So We inspired Moses: “Strike the sea with your staff,” and the sea was split, each part was like a huge mountain. We must understand that the Lord we worship is the Lord of Musa(AS). Have a fraction of the faith Musa(AS) had, and we will a fraction of that help in our lives as well. Never lose hope, Allah is on our side. Contents of Surah Al-Shu`arā - Story of Ibrahim(AS): This is in the Ayahs 69-105. Allah gives a beautiful story of Ibrahim(AS) and him(AS) speaking to his(AS)’s father and people. In a detailed Dua, Ibrahim(AS) links between Allah’s Ability of Creation and Allah’s Guidance. (26:78) Who created me and Who guides me; God never creates something and just leave. He wants to guide the creation. He will never make us live in this perfect ecosystem and not tell us how to live properly. Ibrahim(AS) understood this. He(AS) continues. (80) (26:79) Who gives me food and drink, (26:80) and Who, when I am ill, heals me; Ibrahim(AS) ascribes the illness to himself(AS) and the healing, to Allah. Technically, everything happens because of Allah but we ascribe the good to Him and the bad to Shaitan or ourselves. Then he(AS) goes on. (82) (26:81) Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; (26:82) Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." Death and Resurrection is a fact. But the forgiveness of Allah is not guaranteed. Even Ibrahim(AS) said that he(AS) hopes for Allah’s forgiveness. After saying that, he(AS) calls out to Allah. رَبِّ هَبۡ لِىۡ حُكۡمًا وَّاَلۡحِقۡنِىۡ بِالصّٰلِحِيۡنَۙ (83) وَاجۡعَلْ لِّىۡ لِسَانَ صِدۡقٍ فِى الۡاٰخِرِيۡنَۙ (84) (26:83) (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, (26:84) and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, We need to memorise these Duas and ask them from Allah. There is nothing wrong with wanting a good reputation (and legacy) for the sake of Allah. Ibrahim(AS) wanted later progenies to admire him(AS). Allah gave it to him(AS). No human being is more admired by a larger group of people other than Ibrahim(AS). He(AS) is the honored Prophet of the three Abrahamic faiths - Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The Dua continues. (88) (26:85) and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, (26:86) and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, (26:87) and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, (26:88) the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, (26:89) but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." Ibrahim(AS) is telling us, through this Dua, the importance of having a pure heart. A pure heart is one that is attached only to Allah and harbours no ill-will to the creation of Allah. A pure heart is pure for Allah and for the creation of Allah. We need to inspect our hearts deeply and resolve whatever issues we have, first with Allah, and then with the creation of Allah. Only we can do this for ourselves. There is no greater disgrace than being disgraced on the Day of Judgement by Allah in front of all the Creation. We must prepare in this World to not embarrass ourselves that Day. Any disgrace that happens will happen because of what we ourselves have done. This ends Section-3. Section-1, Section-2, and Section-4 will be posted in different comments. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

I have one question. One person recite Quran and finish in the month of Ramadan and other person who is very very slow reader decides to listen to tafreer of 30th para will he also get rewards as much as the one who recites ?
@smna3214 жыл бұрын
Simple answer: No, they would not get the same reward. The reciter is better than the listener of the Qur'an or it's tafseer given that the listening here is just a simple listening action and not an actual method of gaining knowledge with proper methodology. After saying that, it is important to realize that the priority is higher towards gaining the knowledge and skills required to read Qur'an in a somewhat fluent manner over reading and understanding tafseer of it's verses (given that the individual is already aware of the basic fundamentals of Islam that a layman should be aware of). It is so because reading and understanding of Qur'an is important in many Islamic obligations. The period of trying to better the reading and understanding of Arabic (here the Qur'an) and the efforts and struggles will be far more beneficial and rewarding than just listening to tafaseer. The mere act of reading the Qur'an is hugely hugely underestimated among Muslims now! Subhanallah. Furthermore, the prophet SAW said that the one who recites the Qur'an with difficulty, stammering and struggling... Gets double the reward of the one who recites smoothly and beautifully. So keep struggling, it is better for you and I am sure we would all one day love to have a beautiful recitation.

Nice Guy ... I think knowing who Allah is and understanding Allahs names will bring changes in my life in a positive manner than to learn the 99names with ryrhem available since birth. Same goes with Quran. what you said is right that ones gets double reward but if I spent 15 mins and reading and 3 hours in understanding those verses I recite is more beneficial than reading for 3hours 15mins. Secondly 1400 years back when ever the command comes about Quran to read or recite it was understood that they use to understand it like none today.

@@petsinnaturalhabitat1476 You posed a question... Comparing a person who recites the whole of the Qur'an in a month with an individual who is looking to just LISTEN to the tafseer of the 30th Part of the Qur'an (عمّ) for the same period of time... And at the same time this Listener is said to be a VERY VERY SLOW reader of the Qur'an... This shows he is not proficient with the Qawaid of the Qur'an and Arabic unless he is suffering from some disabilities which hinder his speech or compilation of text in his mind. What kind of knowledge is a student, who spends 30 days on just LISTENING to the tafseer without knowing how to read and understand Arabic, looking to gain? It is dangerous to be wanting to get into juicy parts of knowledge quickly. Knowledge has levels... Try getting into a school which teaches Qur'an and it's exegesis without even knowing how to understand Arabic let alone read it. And then to compare this individual to the one who reads Qur'an entirely during the month (believing that this reciting individual understands the words he reads on a basic level because that is what every Muslim should try to be at least capable of)... But yes for an individual who knows how to recite the Qur'an properly (the Qur'an is meant to be understood so that people can read or listen and think and contemplate)... Then it is far far better for him/her to spend months on tafseer of even one chapter (surah) than to try to complete recitation in a month or half or 3 days... It is then knowledge will take precedence over voluntary acts and will be much more rewarding than just completing a Qur'an recitation. I emphasise on "LISTENING" due to the assumption that this individual without knowledge of Arabic will be preferring to LISTEN to it all (verse+it's tafseer) just in English or any other language... How can one say listening to or reading something all month in English or a language other than Arabic, even if it is about the Qur'an itself, can even come close to the ajar of reciting the Qur'an in it's original tongue? Subhanallah. I hope this is a satisfactory explanation :) And all knowledge is with Allah

If you are slow and try to recite quran you will get more reward as allah loves someone who tries to read it quran bit if you are sure that you won't be able to complete it than listen to it and on the side try reciting it also.

41:18 Just a quick question Shaykh, In one of your lectures, you mentioned that the Firo'n who raised Musa (A.S) was the father of the one whom Musa (A.S) was sent to after phrophethood, while in the verses mentioned, when Firo'n says he has raised Musa-- how do we reconcile it?
