If you use valve recommended settings, game is actually smoother than csgo ever was. Frame timing and pacing is better than cgso for my rig. Understandbly, our monkey brains want to see higher number in fps counter and that is all that matters to it. Csgo was a mess. Just google "csgo is not smooth" and you will see. The whole rant about people needing to get a job and upgrading their PC, arguing that game makers have no obligation to improve the perfomance, making a dogshit analogy to car makers and them not having to increase the speed of an owned car is incredibly elitist and serves as a perfect example as for why people consider Richard to be a Valve shill. It is an objective reality that many people experience unsatisfying fps levels compared to CSGO even on mid range PCs that are not that old when it was perfectly fine in CS GO. The appearance of CS2 in no way justifies this drop in performance and bad game optimization is unacceptable in a competitive game like this.

On the optimization issue, Valve is doing a great job. There are games which are actually poorly optimized and they are very common, but CS2 is not one of them. There are games which look amazing and scale up to higher quality textures and detail well like NFS 2015, but the whole deferred rendering TAA -> FSR/DLSS mess has been a terrible way to mask optimization and performance issues at the cost of having good motion and just generally blurring the details of games. In a few decades I do hope we look at this period in time and look poorly on the way Unreal Engine is holding back gaming.

I agree that no company should be obligated to support an old product, but if you are still officially selling that product, it should be well within your right to complain about any issues it may have. Funnily enough, if they had unlocked all cosmetics and made everything untradeable, the bot problem wouldn't even exist and they could easily and legally end support for it. Although that opens another can of worms about people who spent thousands on hats that are now functionally worthless. I'd argue it's still a more ethical choice than making passive income from a broken product, but YMMV.

Major changes to the game would imply a higher development time. As is, Valve is not your Riot or Ubisoft type of company. They target multiple projects over the year and some may not include CS2 as an urgency. If they release an operation of somekind I can already see the comments: "Aaah, is this it?" "Valve doesn't care.", "Valve are lazy cunts." The fact that I can still say "I played this game for over 20 years and still enjoy it." says a lot about Valve and how much they "don't care".

K time to actually explain how sub tick works cause even though Richard Lewis will trash everyone for saying they blame sub tick for everything doesn't even himself explain how it works cause he doesn't know himself. How sub tick works is it sends your bullet down range where you clicked your mouse in real time. This means you can literally have 1000 ping and still where you clicked in real physical time, the computer will record the input and once that input is uploaded to the server it will send the bullet down where you clicked in real physical time, effectively, sending it back into the past. This is why there is a complete disconnect between what you think you shot and what you actually shot. Anyone who has a decent understanding of how latency and netcoding works knows that on paper this is a great idea but in online play is fundamentally flawed. You cannot sending your bullet back in time 10-20 milliseconds, it will just create issues like this in CS2. Richard showing these clips of people clearly dying behind walls 5:46 is so out of touch and honestly brain dead. First, that didn't happen in CS:GO and on top of that, isn't good netcode no matter how you spin it. I don't think anyone wants to have that feeling of dying behind walls. Next, he even goes as far as saying that we're gonna pretend that no shooting issues happening in CS:GO. They did happen in CS:GO but completely differently. What happened in CS:GO was ghost shots would happen. Bullets where your crosshair was exactly on the enemy would go straight through. Go watch CrowBCat's video titled CSGO'd random critical miss and the first clip of Karrigan shooting a deagle aiming straight at the head just went right through. This was the type of shots that happened in CS:GO. Richard is just completely out of touch with anything CS related. He parades that he has been part of the scene for 20 years but bro you've just been a journalist, like your incite on the game hasn't been relevant what so ever.
@Hyperus3 ай бұрын
You are entirely wrong but go on. I don't know where this "subtick compares real times" came from, its completely bogus, its not a thing. Imagine this for a second. Someone peeks you, you see them peek, shoot, your shots do nothing and then you die. Why? Because what he saw was from earlier and so clearly the CT couldn't have possibly defended. Thats what you are suggesting. It makes no sense. Reddit would be full of clips like this, but its not. Add this to the github url. /SteamDatabase/Protobufs/blob/master/csgo/usercmd.proto /SteamDatabase/Protobufs/blob/master/csgo/cs_usercmd.proto Add this to the github url and you can just literally read the usercommand structure and see that its completely bogus. The dude there died behind the wall because he is predicting ahead and lag compensation in combination. You can't wait for the server to confirm that you did in fact strafe back. And with Lag Compensation the server rolls back the position of the target to what the shooter saw at that moment. CSGO does the same things.

1. movement: movement is a core part of what separates counterstrike from other games, specifically strafe momentum movement. this core mechanic was totally Crapped on by the devs, not cared about at all as shown by the game being released (csgo being shutdown) and for several weeks the movement was atrociously bad, as in bhopping was impossible. no excuse, if any of the dev team played csgo that would not have went live in such a state. 2. subtick: subtick is something I can't speak too much on, I don't know why it feels so different (not in a good way) holding an angle is pretty terrible right now, again feeling not sure why, I've had way way more success just swinging an angle over and over again on CT side instead of holding an off angle. comparatively in csgo I would hold angles at head height and hit shots pretty consistently. For reference I peaked LEM playing CSGO in my free time. played Faceit with a team for a little bit, we weren't the best but CSGO was always fun. 3. deleting csgo: I think this is where Valve fucked up, csgo had so much content, tons of game modes, really fun community stuff, and more. Why did csgo have to be deleted and replaced with cs2, the answer is $$$$$, always is. CS2 would not have gotten 99% of this backlash if they had just released it as a separate game; announced the end of support for csgo (leaving a small team to keep the game running) and put all counterstrike resources towards cs2. No fires, no rush on maps, game modes, and such, just able to make cs2 into another great game. Skins would migrate at some point, but people could still play flying scoutsman on the weekend. 4. The little things: tracers lie, where are the maps, a lot of skins looked terrible in cs2, optimization yucky, game doesn't run on old hardware, bugs (however that would be fine if csgo was still around to play instead,) 10 wins on every map?? who came up with this people just want a single rank to tell their friends, rip the community workshop stuff "who cares about that anyways" Valve. 5. Cheating: wow what a deal breaker, the main ranked system was/is useless since the anti cheat Valve had been "working on" just got scrapped I guess. Overwatch was panic promise as the attitude was changing towards cs2 they had to say/do something, unfortunately couldn't even deliver on that. at least people could feel like they were catching cheaters and making a difference in the game. I saw people saying they weren't running into cheaters that much. from my experience (this was a couple months ago, I've given up having fun playing cs2) once I hit 15k there was a cheater 1/5 games (blatant) when I was play at 18-20k it was 1/2 games someone was blatant on a fresh account. 6. The Vibe: what a stupid word that is over used, but it fits so much so well. the majority of friends I have that loved csgo, some super casual some extremely competitive, have given up on cs2. the ones that still play regularly are always complaining and have too much money in skins to leave the game. clearly the love for cs2 from valve is gone. some people will say that it's because of the bile that people are throwing at the devs. fair enough. but in my opinion the people who made cs2 didn't have the love for counterstrike to begin with. as seen by the state of which cs2 was released and csgo was thrown out. It was a good run, had a lot of fun with csgo..

We do need CS to start communicating with their audience though. You can’t have an esports franchise with this level of isolation from them, the one line patch notes are an actual piss take compared to how much treatment deadlock gets, Gaben literally has more hours in deadlock than he does in any of the CS games combined, I think that says it all really.

well i can't complain about my 400+ FPS in CS2. People rather complain instead of investing more money into their hobby and finally updating their out of date GTX 1060 cards or worse. People really think that hardware doesn't age and tech development is just coming to a standstil because you dont want to upgrade your rig but you want have good performance somehow? insanity

The morons "Are Valve doing the same as this Activision patent?" Yes Valve totally copied from a patent of one of the most litigious gaming companies.

can you ask your overlords to release the update already?? You said they hired new people and they were working on it ,it takes TIME to learn the new source engine blah blah. You said it around the release or maybe at the start of this year. Im not sure how much more they can learn unless they hired freshers

Do you know what the problem is Richard? You dont play the game. Its plainly obvious. You have no idea how the game feels because all you see of it, are the pro matches. Where there is 0ping and people have 5k hours minimum. To an average player with an average connection the game is 10x worse than GO. I won't pretend to know whether is the subtick or their netcode but something just feels wrong. And you would know that if you ACTUALLY played the game.

It appears as though people prioritize posting on social media over actually looking at the game, testing it and find out how it actually works. Not to be rude but I'm honestly not quite sure why I watch the videos in which you read community posts when I'm so sick and tired of all the invalid complaints about CS2. I'm probably subconsciously drawn to a good rant. I do appreciate your work though, in spite of only getting into CS during covid, hence a lot of it is before "my time" so to speak.

I've gone past being disappointed with CS2. I am completely apathetic. The game is disappointing to anyone with thousands of hours in CSGO. These Redditors are shit idiots but the pros are complaining about the game too. Is Ropz shit? Twistzz? AleksiB?
@RLewisReports3 ай бұрын
Pros will complain about any minor change to the game because it's in their interests to not have to adapt. Pros said molotovs would ruin CS so don't take their opinions as gospel.
@shookya69763 ай бұрын
The only bright side is that it’s completely free. Valve has never seen a cent of money from me since I purchased CSGO in 2015. If people really dont like the game, just dont pay them anything.

I was lowkey shit in csgo and im still shit in cs2 :) but the game for sure feels worse in terms of responsiveness or crispyness.. dont really know the word to describe it! could just be a thing to get used to etc etc! I remember feeling something felt offff playing csgo for the first couple of years aswell compared to source. But it evetually turned into something very solid so cant be mad at it! (and even if it never turns into something solid i still cant be mad because the game is free and im a pleb! so i will stfu now!) thanks
@mikevismyelement3 ай бұрын
@RLewisReports fair points. I was merely demonstrating that the feeling of the game being "off" is shared among low and high elo players. Them pulling CSGO had an unintended effect, fans have now elevated that game to mythical status. I'm not pretending that game was perfect but the actual aim/shoot/movement gameplay loop felt better in that game than CS2.

@@RLewisReports Hi Rich, wasn't that because at the start, Molotovs couldn't be put out with a smoke and didn't have time to explode and would fly like a smoke across the map? I don't even remember any more because at this point it's been more than a decade and all I can recall is the hltv headline with glaive's opinion on the matter.
