I'm curious how well they would do against rope or a drone. Also, I like this idea for tight controlled groups, a six or eight pack would probably be effective against most targets, the only issue would be loading in a way that doesn't tangle or cut the wires on acceleration.

Strictly its purpose was to destroy the rigging and stays, which supported the masts and sails. So a rope cutter round. Round shot was more commonly used aimed at the masts directly, for accuracy if nothing else, but a bit of extra punch. If you cut the stays, they could rip themselves apart, or break with a lot less damage. They would take out yard arms and of course the marksmen in the rigging too. The ropes used to climb the masts are the mass of ropes tensioned to resist the force of the sails trying to snap the mast over for example, cut one side and the mast under sail would probably snap straight over.

I can't believe they actually stayed in one piece all the way to the target. I know weed whacker line is pretty tough stuff, kinda has to be to do what it does, but I'm amazed not even one of the balls let loose. Especially when you tied the two super long lines together. Instead, they just hit in a near perfect x-shape. Lol, that's fantastic. And probably nice for you, since you didn't have to fart around with "field modding" to get at least one of them to do what you wanted. Nice work!

I'm surprised, but not very. I work in landscaping and a coworker slid down into a deep ditch on his mower. I broke an inch and a half ratchet strap trying to pull him out with my mower! So i grabbed the spool of whip cord and ran 5 or 6 turns between em and pulled it right out. I respooled it when we were done and still used it, that stuff is tough!
