After seeing the dragon route, I now know why the Princess says “mostly” instead of “just” her spreading fear wherever they go.

we are not just feathered hands but when the princess says the princess and the dragon, when she says dragon it made you think that "you" were a dragon so that's probably why he came in so scary

Yeah, I dont think it means exactly that, especially since we're meant to look a lot different, almost completely broken. But that doesn't make the statement any less true - her gaping maw and fear paralysis combined with her frail bird who can't even fit in his own cage, would be enough to scare anyone half to death, if not all the way.

@@LucasImpulsein that route you can ask her about your appearance and she says that's what you always look like, plus the long quiet is meant to be a stagnant being, although I think the narrator says that he made sure to keep a small amount of the shifting mound within the long quiet so that his desired reality wouldn't be completely devoid of change (but I could be misremembering so idk)

Yeah, they've better differentiated the chapter 2 princesses from their unique chapter 3 ones as well as most of their variants. And her whole description has changed too to better fit that route.

I knew something was different about Moment of Clarity while playing it after the pristine cut! I really like her new sprite, It looks creepy.

do you think her face being a void has anything to do with a metaphor for emptiness or lacking identity?

I think it's more like the Long Quiet no longer care for the princess, so the princess no longer need a mask(or fake face) . After all, Nightmare means something you don't want to face, but keep reminding in your life.

@@Dumbface-43789I don't think "him not caring" comes into it. She bared her soul to him and so no longer needs to mask it anymore. If anything,he was moulded into caring about her even more. Plus a Nightmare is just a bad dream, there's nothing else to it.

i really do wish there was an ending t this that mimicked the razors ending. some convoluted series of things you could do that let you actually beat her Y'know?

That's the whole point though. Your will has been broken beyond repair and now you have no choice but to give her exactly what she wants - her freedom. It's supposed to be a complete contrast to Razor Plus we already have something like that with Tower and that makes more sense because we had something that kept us going. Here we have nothing - we've seen her full extent of her suffering and yearning that we feel the need to free her. There's nothing we can do but let the situation run its course.

She’s the moment of clarity, the realization of inevitability of death and futility of struggle against it. It would be against its themes if you could somehow win against it. You can only delay her and ignore her, but you will never stop her from getting what she wants.

Nightmare still has it. Plus it's still there, just even more fractured and the gaping maw is more symbolic and unique.

I know that the Moment of Silence's mask was more cracked than the Nightmare, but why shatter it entirely?

@@sebastienbusque2312 Because you've already seen into her, her heart, and her innermost thoughts, therefore you no longer need to fear her. She doesn't need to mask that part of herself anymore. Plus her original design was way too similar to Nightmare.

@@reubensalter8125Oh, wow. I was struggling to figure out why her mask broke entirely, but this really clears it up. I'll probably use this idea as a general understanding to build up on with more ideas and views on why it broke so much for later. Thanks for this!
