I think the James Bulger case might be the first case I ever deep dived into. As a child, I wandered off from my mom in a store, and when she found me she was completely panicked and upset and told me “do you know what can happen to kids who wander off?? do you want to wind up dead on the train tracks somewhere??” In retrospect, the James Bulger murder had happened only 2 years prior and was probably still mentioned on tabloid covers in supermarkets at the time. Her words always stuck with me and when I started having an interest in true crime cases, I wondered if her fear was based in reality so I researched it and found that case.

I never let my guard down no matter what age someone is. I sure I let small kids rough house with me. because they wont make much damage anyway. young teens the same. but there's a few times before they would bring out a bat or a knife. I would just spank them IF they actually attack me with any weapon. reason why they would do something like that is because I don't go "ouch". some kids or just anyone in this matter are just not used to the fact not everyone cries over a minor pain or even damaging enough to make someone say ouch. and who are those kids? my very own family members. I'm just guessing on the fact half of them are spoiled they didn't really think they would get away of hurting people on that level. but they were also rough housing. because in fact when you rough house for awhile one of you would go over bored.

My husband was jolly go lucky conversing with the neighbor and I come to find out my son is alone with the neighbors kid in the garage a few houses down. ** red flag 1. This older kid age 7 never wants to play with my kids and is super controlling so I knew that something was wrong. He sees me and instantly throws the needle and try's to get my attention to his "collection of hand made daggers. I asked him why would you be doing that and he didn't respond. This is the type of thing I warned my husband about but he never took me serious. God knows how many times this kid poked my son in the head with that dam needle. When the kids were sentenced, they got more luxuries than they did at home. They were in an asylum of sorts with a tv, video games, good meals, nice people, live football games, shopping trips, and more; overall much better than their at home life. I won’t really go into depth of what happened in their homes but it was horrible, far from ordinary. The kids childhood’s continued with much more pampering leading to no change in adulthood. When they were released from the asylum, new identities were given to both of the boys. One boy was able to live his life normally. While the other guy never changed, continuing to commit crime and expose his past identity. He would go out and say to everyone that “he was one of the boys that killed James.” Lots of issues came from this, such as him getting sent back to jail and having the government pay THOUSANDS of pounds to get him new identities. I forgot where he is now, but the KZbinr Eleanor Neale made a very good video on this case and I highly recommend you watch it! When the boys were about to be released I remember there was talk in the news that one of them would be moved here to Australia. I worked in a small local supermarket at the time and not long after this was talked about an English family suddenly appeared in our suburb. The mother and two older teenage/adult daughters would come in often. The first time they came in they had literally just arrived, they had a house to move into, they also had a bank card for an Australian bank. For no reason in particular they straight away told me a story about the mother being born in Australia being why they were able to move here. They asked me where to go to buy furniture, all they had with them was their suitcases The mother was very strange, always a bit vague and spaced out, there was only ever the 3 females coming into the shop but I heard them mention a "he" once, they were choosing chips and one of them said something like "he likes x flavour". After a few months they disappeared. There was just something odd about the whole situation and I wasn't the only one at work who had the same thoughts. Finding what little information I can about their family's, it would have more likely been Robert

The fact that so many people saw that toddler crying and bleeding with a couple 10 year olds, and said nothing reminded me of something that happened 7 years ago. My three kids, my husband and I were in some sort of indoor plaza while on vacation. My husband had taken my two youngest to the movies, and my oldest daughter (who was 17 at the time) and I were wandering around separately. I came upon her at one point, and she was storming into a Chinese restaurant, carrying a toddler who was snuggling up to her and crying. I had no idea what the hell was going on, so I followed. By the time I got in there, she was in the KITCHEN of the restaurant, chastising someone. Apparently, she came upon a group of 4-5 teen boys surrounding this three year old laughing and tormenting him as he cried. She (a lone 17 yo girl) stormed over and asked what they were doing, and why the baby was crying. They all swore a bit at her, told her to eff off, etc. she didn’t backdown, but eventually they did. She held her arms down to the toddler and he put his arms up and cuddled onto her shoulder. She looked around and saw no one who looked like they might be his parents. He was Chinese, and there was a Chinese restaurant about 30-40 feet away, so she decided to take a chance and went in and asked if anyone knew who he was. The employees said he was the son of the owner. She demanded to know where he was, then stormed up to him...walked right into the kitchen. She asked the child if he saw mommy or daddy, he nodded, and then owner approached her. She let that guy have it!! She was asking what the hell was wrong with him, not watching his own child. She let him know that the baby was being harassed and could have been hurt or kidnapped by a group of boys. There may have been a language barrier, but he (the dad) just kept nodding and saying ohhh, yeah. Ok. 🤷♀️ the little one kept snuggling up to her and didn’t want her to put him down. And, Literally the man asked”you watch him, yes?” She was like No...YOU NEED TO WATCH HIM. YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ME. omg she was sooo angry and frustrated. What is worse, is when she walked in carrying this child that wasn’t hers, no one tried to take him from her, ask her why she was carrying him...nothing! When it was all over, she saw me, hugged me and burst into tears. It was the most surreal situation either of us had ever been in. So this young girl, on her own, saw and did something when things didn’t look right. It blows my mind how many people can ignore a situation where things obviously don’t look right.

stories like james' are why i always say its better to intervene if you think somethings wrong with a situation. the worst result is that everything is fine and you end up a little embarrassed/uncomfortable or with someone a bit angry with you. discomfort is always worth it when someones safety could rely on it.
@benhardman70302 жыл бұрын
It's very saddening but it is stupid (I mean in the people not doing anything), because there is an effect called a bystander effect. And these people displayed it very clearly. If you don't know what it is, it is an effect where people see something is wrong, but fail to act because nobody else is doing something about it. It is how you say, they fail to act due to embarrassing themselves or out of fear of being laughed at if they are wrong.

"the worst result is that everything is fine and you end up a little embarrassed/uncomfortable.." swiftly took me back to 3 ish years ago when i was driving through a town around midnight and saw a teenage boy hanging off the side of the bridge i was crossing over (rocky river below). i immediately turned around and got out asking what he was doing and if he was okay (i thought he was about to take his life) little did i know, it wasn’t a straight drop off the bridge, there was a hill, and his buddy popped his head up from the other side of the concrete railing/ledge. they thanked me for checking, and i was a little embarrassed/uncomfortable, but i don’t regret stopping. not related to murders or anything in the video specifically, but my point is, i 1000% agree, say something or intervene (unless it’s entirely unsafe, of course). especially if your gut is saying so.

@@benhardman7030 while that is very true, in the case for James people were stopping and checking on him. There were many accounts of people stopping the boys asking them about James and they lied, saying James was their brother or friend who got injured and they were taking him home/to their mothers. I believe there was one person who tried to stop the boys but people stopped the adult because the boys acted distressed. Sadly it was a helpless case. It’s not so much that it’s gynocentric... Unfortunately our justice system is flawed in many ways, one way being that the action of killing someone is often more significant than motivations. He was the one who decided to rape and murder the girl. He did the action of murder, and as much as her pos excuse for a mother is responsible, her mother did not “pull the trigger.” As far as I know, she also didn’t tell him to kill her. That being said, I think there should be a much harsher sentence for selling children. I think it SHOULD be about as harsh as it is for murder. But sadly it’s not. So her sick disgusting waste of space mother gets a lighter sentence. Seriously it’s called a temp job. Terrible thing about the Bulger case is that both those boys are not just free to roam the streets now in the UK, but they have been given new identities and even homes and I believe a decent "pay" so that they not at risk of being exposed to the public, in case their lives are at risk. Where is the justice for that 2 year old Jamie Bulger? 8 years is a joke and they living comfortable lives now. I believe that one of them was discovered and immediately moved and given a new identity.
@dieyng Жыл бұрын
They were 10 YEAR OLD KIDS!!! You really think they had any real understanding of what they did? And you think living in prison from 10-18 year old is no punishment? 8 years is 80% of the life they had before their crime. Venables seems to be a complete fuck-up, who knows if he could have been led to a halfway normal being, if instead of locking him up he'd gotten treatment as a small kid.
@Random-qm6oh Жыл бұрын
@@dieyngWhile I understand your point simply put the crime committed by those 2 children was beyond Heinous and would be impossible without some level of intent these 2 tortured a three-year-old to death over an extended period and all they got was 8 years in jail and a name change so I believe it's right to feel a little bit spiteful knowing all of this even plus even if they got the help they needed their would be no guarantee that they would suddenly choose to bear the weight of their actions and realize what they have done is beyond what most people on this earth would find to be completely unforgivable

You know, the guy's reaction at being told the victim's body part had been found, i don't think it was suspicious. I mean, we know now why he reacted the way he did, and now it seems suspicious to us. But in the immediate context of him reacting that way, it's just a guy who thought his friend had dissapeared yet still alive, being told she's dead. If i was him, and if he hadn't killed her, and she had just dissapeared, and i thought and hoped she was still alive, i would've had the same reaction at realising she was dead. I mean, how is a person supposed to react at being informed their friend is dead, when they were trying to find her, thinking she was alive?

It's funny to wonder what a murderer is thinking right before they murder someone because psychologically their brain might be super interesting and to see how it functions to see reason why people want to murder others and that might give us an opening to stopping murders all together. I’m from Liverpool, and this case did shake the whole area of Merseyside to the core. I think if this happened now in Liverpool, it would be stopped purely because of this case. But without something this horrific happening, at least to your knowledge, no one would see a toddler with little boys and think they are kiddnappers. It’s very easy to judge the bystanders but this was so alien to anyone. You’re lying if you’d say you saw ten year old with a crying toddler and your first thought is “clearly a murder is about to happen”. Your first thought is “that’s two brothers and a typical toddler tantrum”. It’s common for toddlers to cry and fall over and get injuries. Even the injury wouldn’t set off red flags for many people. You’d not think the 10 year olds were sinister. Kids can be little shots but kidnappers are usually men not prepubescent little boys. And this also happened back in the day when people thought all child predators where creepy old men in trench coats offering sweeties in the back of a dirty van.
