It’s amazing how Tom platz has mastered the psychology behind repping out squats. 5 is manageable reps for most people, don’t process 20-30 reps, bang out mini sets of 5 and before you know it you’ve just done 40 reps

He also recognizes when to say 2/3 more instead of five and then when to start saying 1 more. He has so much experience he can tell how close to failure people are better than they can for themselves. He really optimizes how far he can push someone. The real challenge is to find the drive without him there, find a way to put him in your head.

When doing 20 reps, by rep 10 you’re questioning why you are doing this. By 14 you are negotiating with god, by 17 you’re talking to god and 19 god is talking to you. Just delusional and ready to write your will in your head. It is crazy how Tom Platz kept on moving the goal post. I would have died at 20. Just want to say that using tom’s techniques I’ve revolutionized my squat. I used to hate squatting and it was the exercise i’d dredd doing the most as I’d be making the usual mistakes (leaning forward and buckling knees) but since I’ve employed Tom’s stance and principles it’s now my favorite exercise and I’m squatting weight I never thought I could.

How many sets and about how many reps do you do usually? How often do you train legs? I'm a bloody beginner 😂
@Neo_Rain146
@Neo_Rain146 4 жыл бұрын
MonotoniTV For squats which is usually my first exercise I do about 5-7 sets. 2 warm up sets of about 15-20 reps real light and then 5 working sets were I will do 10 reps per set but my last heavy working set I usually try get as close to 10 reps as possible sometime I squeeze out 7 or 8 depending on how I’m feeling that day. Rule of thumb is don’t increase weight on bar until you can complete 10 clean reps with good form. Try follow that formula with every exercise you do, aim for failure on your last working set. For safety have someone spot you on those heavy squat sets tho. I do about 4-5 leg exercises per workout so about 20 sets per workout. I try do legs atleast twice a week depending how my soreness and recovery goes but always remember to stretch your quads, hamstrings after a big leg workout as it will save you a lot of soreness the next day. Get your stance and form right initially and don’t worry too much about moving a lot of weight as that will come in time.

@@MonotoniTV I'm a beginner myself but FORM is what one should aim for at the beginning. I'd argue that it's better to use lower weights and start training only for form. Damn 40 reps, I think I got high 20s near 30 reps with 225 once and I was on the floor and couldn't breathe and even turned pale. Took me 30 minutes of rest for me to finish my work out. Props to that guy getting 40.

Damn the spotters were so quick to react, didn’t even give the people squatting to drive and push their limit.

Ya, Amy from Switzerland, I was checking her out, strength, determination and cuteness along with those thick thighs, a little acne but hook her up with some Clearasil and she'd be good to go. She'd be a hardcore girlfriend.

It's interesting to see the difference between where the majority would have stopped had they been training normally and where they ended up getting to with the help of Tom Platz. Having that self-discipline and dogged determination to push yourself when no one else is around makes all the difference.
