Just something cool I realized. At 8:39, the music is a music box rendition of Franz Listz's piano piece "Liebestraum no. 3", or in English, "Love Dream." At 15:57, It's "Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben," from Bach's St. Matthew's Passion. The Lyrics, translated, are, "Out of love, Out of love my Savior is willing to die, Though he knows nothing of any sin, So that eternal ruin And the punishment of judgment May not rest upon my soul." At 20:19, the piece is Dvorak's 9th Symphony, movement 2. A piece that was later turned into a folk song, "Going Home." At 28:00, the piece is "Vogel als Prophet" from Forest Scenes, By Schumann. the title translates to "Prophet bird"

Awesome finds! But actually, the second one is the aria "Aus Liebe will mein Heiland sterben" from the St. Matthew's Passion by J.S. Bach, but played in reverse. I know this because I am a friend of Forky who supplies him (and sometimes make) possible music to use for SOTP. However, the piece I mentioned is also in A minor like the 2nd movement from Beethoven's 7th, so it makes sense that you thought that.

Also, the scene from 28:00 uses "Vogel als Prophet" from "Forest Scenes", a set of short forest themed pieces for piano by Robert Schumann. It is important to note that this translates to "Prophet bird", which has symbolic meaning in the scene it is used in.

what an incredible series. in awe of the animations, voice-acting and art and how some moments are genuinely chilling. i think this fits the digital horror genre more than analog horror though but this is an excellent video introducing me to sins of the past.

the only thing that takes me out of it is that it's supposed to take place in the 70s/80s, but all the visual references read 90s/2000s. still tho it's super impressive and i appreciate the use of actual animated visuals and voice acting, it's a much welcome change of pace for a genre dominated by slideshows with jumpscares lmao

Yeah that was strange to me as well. Best I can surmise is that this is a retelling of events long after they actually happened. The ghosts have somehow infested Agent Milly’s computer and that’s why they’re manifesting this way instead of something more period appropriate.

I will have to look it up but I believe that's something that would only become available to the public around the late 80s, no? Almost serms too weird to simply be a mistake when it's such a central element of the entire artwork, I wonder if there was an intended purpose thematically for this anachronism

My theory is that Nina was a relative to Louis, a cousin, a niece, maybe a younger sister even. That, for me at least, would be the only logical conclusion for him to do what he did. He might’ve known what happened to Nina and sought to make Bill’s life hell, through the slaughter of his daughter, that in turn caused her mother’s su1c1de, to kidnapping Charolette and her friends. For me the remaining question is why would he go after Ruthy and jay? They really had no relation to the settle family other than being Charlotte and presumably Nina’s friends. Perhaps Louis was also in contact with king and king was salty his sister killed him. Motivating Louis to go after Ruthy as well. I feel like he only went after Jay too because, after all, if he left him there there’d be more, eh, “witness’” if you could even call him that considering they were all asleep at the time. Circling back around to what I said earlier I don’t think Louis and king being in contact is too far fetched, considering Louis works at township and king possesses one of the arcade machines there. Idk I’m kinda just spit balling here but this series sure is intriguing, it’s a very cool way to break the fourth wall as the characters are usually talking to you directly, or at least acknowledging your presence. It leaves enough to have the mystery which keeps you hooked, but tells you enough to where it’s not painfully difficult to scrounge up any pieces of the story, it truly is a masterpiece imo and I’m looking forward to future episodes !

Weren't Jay and the others present for the dare for Nina to go into the backroom? It's possible Louis blamed the kids for contributing to Nina's death. Seeing how if they didn't dare Nina to go in, she may not have died.

This might sound weird but I love how unlikeable they made the main character. Charlotte is described as loud, annoying and a bully, and it's honestly so refreshing. Many analog horror series tend to make the victims "perfect" and sort of angel-like. Charlotte being actually kind of a dickhead makes her so much more human and realistic imo

man, i really enjoyed your video on this series- it's probably going to be rotating around in my brain like a microwaved rotisserie chicken for a while- and while of course as there always is with an unfinished series there's a good chance some of the pieces were put together improperly, with what is available at the moment your theory makes a *lot* of sense to me, particularly because of the fact that at about 21:21 charlotte mentions that her father has been "really out of it" recently, which is why he and harmony went on a date night. it's obviously not groundbreaking or full proof of what happens in the story, but if you are right, i think it's such an interesting tidbit to have so carefully but nonchalantly placed in a time when no suspicion is placed onto him. honestly no matter what though, i am so going to recommend both this video and the series as a whole to my friends because *man* is it thought provoking!

Is this kinda anachronistic? I'm not sure the video game history is adding up. If the 3D video game was just a dream, okay. If not-- I'm wondering if the creator is conflating the 70s and the 90s. Also definitely no Geocities or XP in the 70s. The murder stuff isn't hanging together too terribly well for me either - two dads murdering each other's daughters especially if they are arcade employees is....a stretch-- however the vibes are interesting and sad. This is what happens when you are middle-aged and watching ARGs lol. I think young fans have some of the same types of criticisms. This is still a stronger one though, thank you for the analysis.
