So the red flags are most likely relating to the removal of an object or thing- Typically you see them on trees, as shown here, or on objects that are deemed to be removed. Red usually means 'destroy', or fully remove, such as an animatronic being red-tagged at old shut down sections of Disney/Epcot parks. Sometimes redtagging means 'take it to an archive/ save it elsewhere' and sometimes it means cut down the tree, demolish this building etc. Sometimes it's a spray paint line on a tree/building for workers to know what's staying and what's intended for removal!

The Oldest View giant kinda makes me sad. Do we really know if he's evil? Is he stuck in this world and lonely? He used to be so beloved, in parades, always around humans, the beings that created him. He was in plays and taken care of. Now he's just alone warndering the mall. And when someone comes, they are afraid of him just because of his appearance. Maybe he doesn't want to harm but just wants what he used to have. He can not speak this, so he's trapped to be alone. Maybe that makes him angry. Not malicious, but frustrated. It's probably just a regular backrooms kind of horror, but i can't help but feel somewhat empathetic toward this papier-mâché giant.

Either that or the Giant just simply really really bored, when it saw Wyatt it first instinct is to kill al intruders but stop itself when it knew fully well when Wyatt dead the fun will end so it just took it time restrict it abilities just to messed with Wyatt and us the audiences to entertain itself a little bit before went for the kill. We literally saw corpses of both humans and horses when Wyatt startled at the Giant capable get in the escalator or when he near the exit door, it show that the Giant was malevolent but very predatory cunning and humanly sadistic.
@severiavonkusiemski6125
@severiavonkusiemski6125 3 ай бұрын
@longwlenguyen4214 This is absolutely a possibility. The thing with the horses and human corpses is we don't know how they got there or why they died. We can say due to what we have seen the giant did it, but do we really know that? Are the corpses real or just an illusion this place is manifesting to cause fear? What if the place both are stuck in is the evil and both are just victims? Maybe the evil place is using the giant as the visual to the evil since the Giant can't fight back. It can't speak. It probably can't die. Maybe it was given "life" by this place to be a forced pawn. Given what we see, we can assume the giant is the evil being, but what if the place itself is manipulating everything? The storyteller becomes an unknown false narrator through no fault of their own.

@@lifevest1 Not sure. The parade occurred the year or the year before my family moved, so I wouldn't be surprised if we'd went to the bridge parade. I don't remember the giant, and I can't say for certain if any familiarity of the giant that strikes me is from me having really seen it or just from how it looks (a model of it *was* used in a horror miniseries that's intended to tap into nostalgia, after all). I asked my mom about it and like the first thing she said was that the mall was dingy, lol, so the mall was declining and on its way out even when we went. Kane did a wonderful job imo, because it's a perfect play on the steady decline of malls.

I like how the horror here doesn’t feel cheap and the moment where the giant only being separated by wheelchair ramp is terrifying. Wyatt isn’t safe from the giant by stairs or an escalator. The rolling giant feels like a vengeful spirit of the decaying mall forever wandering this lifeless husk of a dead mall. Perhaps the giant is a metaphor for the decay and collapse of that area into nothingness. It also helps that the giant is already very unsettling and when it is chasing Wyatt it reminds me a lot of Mr.X from resident evil

The part about Kane stopping the Backrooms video is incorrect. Originally the plan was to keep the story going for another few years but then the A24 movie deal happened. As soon as that happened all Backrooms videos stopped, leaving many to speculate it was a requirement of the film contract. As it stands the current Backrooms series is not complete, it stopped mid story. I am assuming the upcoming film will be the capstone on that story.

Whole there may be something in his contract with A24 that says "no Backrooms videos until the movie is finished" from what Kane has said, I think it's more just a time thing. He said he's been working on the movie since the SAG/WGA strikes ended, and that's taking alot of time. He probably set backrooms YT aside and kept up with the Oldest View so that he wasn't getting details confused between the movie and the YT series, nor getting burned out by so much of the same exact thing.

This seems to be the best Oldest View analysis on KZbin so far. I’ve been invested in the series for some time, also searching for video and images, and every video analysis on the series I’ve seen so far seem to be based on common/simple knowledge, you actually did research for this. I want to point this out, but the series is heavily associated with impermanence, not simply nostalgia. “Renewal” probably refers to renewing impermanent things, which is exactly what the looping wind track at the end of “Life of a Giant” does. The song at the end of Renewal backs this, longing to “return” to the happier days, they want things to stay in the same state, which you were spot on about. Edit: (I typed this before finishing the video)

This analysis of the video makes me sad. While an initial watch through had me believing that it was an entity trapping people inside, this has me percieving Mr. Rolling giant as a protector. He wants to hold on to what he knows as his oldest view of the place he has deemed home. Can you blame him for that? To want to protect the memory of his home? I think this is a story with no villains. Wyatt just wants to understand and explore the past, which at worst makes him curious. Rolling giant wants to preserve and keep the memory of his home. Even the mall itself wants to be kept in stillness of memory, as to not have to exist in distress. It simply wants still peace. This is a sad story, I think.

Recently, Kane uploaded a new video for The Oldest View. Starts with some kind of panel most likely talking about the project for the site before going back into the mall with Wyatt. Replaying him trying to leave. Instead of the structure collapsing beneath him and falling to his death, he manages to get to the exit staircase running up and out. Back to his car. He tries to use GPS but it doesn't seem to work. Last thing we see of the video is a POV shot of the Giant on its little cart riding around on the street, passing a car at one point. Its called Dispersal.

I think there's a separate interpretation to the giant. That its trying to save Wyatt. The mall is the hostile entity. The giant is helping Wyatt to escape in the only way it knows how, chasing him out. The giant knows the mall is trying to kill Wyatt. Why else would the giant risk damaging itself at the end? It's desperately trying to get Wyatt to leave before the mall takes him. Sadly the giant is too late.
@marchwhitlock6455
@marchwhitlock6455 2 ай бұрын
I like this interpretation. A dead mall is a bleak depiction of where a future in business might get you. The giant-an embodiment of Wyatt’s true passion for botany-seeks to save him from this fate. It’s a story which lends itself very well to both environmentalist and Marxist readings.

I just have the questions of why the ghost of Julien Reverchon would want to protect the memory of a mall built 68 years after his death (given that he had a love of the natural world, a mall is pretty much the exact opposite of that)? And, if the goal is to make Wyatt leave, why did the stairs "collapse" when he tries to turn back? To me, it felt like he was being trapped intentionally, like a fly in a spider's web. During that scene, the lights and music turn on, almost like the mall is "waking up." It's like the Overlook Hotel from The Shining; a living, hungry place that--like how sea stars extrude their stomachs before consumption--spills out its "guts" or "insides" (perhaps even "secrets") as it prepares to devour prey. Just a thought!

Outside of the Backrooms series of videos, adding lore and "layers" to the backrooms took what was an interesting piece of horror and turned it into the same lazy tropes we've seen in creapypastas time and time again. The intrigue of the backrooms came from not just the unknown but what we cannot know. Not everything needs story and background. All these additions the backrooms with its deep documentation on the landscapes and monsters turns the unpredictable and mystery into something tangible. It ruins good horror.

woah this is amazing, your work is just😙🤌 keep up with this great stuff. i’ve been following for godknows how many years and i think this is one of my favourites so far, perhaps out of all the scream streets too- simply due to how you produced this with such fear inducing enigma it’s amazing. thank you caleb ✌️

Whenever I watch a documentary or long form video that's really, *really* well made, I get chills and I feel compelled. This video made me feel that ten fold. I loved TOV by Kane Pixels and learning about the story behind the real life Julien, and all the intricate details Kane Pixels wove into the video that you wouldn't realize if you didn't know the story of Julien, as well as the parade of giants, it's so cool. Great video, I really loved it.

when I was in high school, I lived near here. In its dying years, I helped build a music studio in there that was... probably not contractually supposed to exist in one of the old shops. You had to enter through the back and it was eerie. But I got a lot of experience working with music in there. Good times.

This reminds me of THE deadmall in Cincinnati thats getting ready to be demolished here in the next couple of months. Im so sad because it really was a blast to the past. It was built in the late 1980s and hasnt been renovated since 2004. You can no longer enter because of safety hazards. I loved that place, makes me sad to think itll be gone forever

This is one of the most endearing analysis videos I've seen for an ARG - you've given so much respect for the creator and the projects made. I like how you really dug in deep, looking at the themes and hidden meanings. "The curtain is blue - was an allegory to depression" you know how people always joke that maybe the curtain was just fucking blue? You allowed the projects to have meaning beyond the shallow theories we normally get and it almost feels like a love letter to it. Never thought I'd get emotional I guess. Subbing for sure.

Your way of putting it in perspective for me to grasp is intelligent from you. You made me connect your words to the way we live and life itself. You're very deep and calculated with every word you say. It's astonishing how you make a deep topic sound so catchy and make you stop in your tracks to ponder. I loved every second of the valuable information you shared, but of course, except the parts where you freaked the fucking shit out of me😂😂 I hate horror stuff and don't watch any horror movies, but I'm willing to sacrifice that cos i love you and I would watch anything you upload. I also thought about acquiring your book, but Caleb, I don't have the ability to buy it, I'm sad.

If its the Mall itself that's trying to repel an intruder, then the Giant may simply be nothing more than an instrument to that end. It came alive and started chasing Wyatt only after it startled him and he admitted, out loud even, that it scared him, thus that would reveal a fear and 'weakness' to exploit against him.

For me I interpreted it as like when you think back on memories from your childhood and only remember the good part, then you see something that reminds you and you come back but it’s not how it was when you were younger or you remember something that makes you remember the bad part of the memories. I remember vividly the strike in my chest when finally going past my elementary school after 7 years to find it was demolished. I didn’t know until then, I knew I couldn’t go back but it hurt to know no one could
