In VA, Isaac Bowman is $40, so it's usually my go-to for a port cask-finished bourbon.

Happy I got this in a trade. I had it and it was so so. Bourbon and red fruit notes. Good but not $70+ good. These sit on shelves for $70 each even with good shelf placement. I think MGP distillate does better with cask finishing. If you can find old scout ryes finished in Port Casks you both will find those enjoyable.

A very unique port cask finish is from Old Line American Single Malt Whiskey. Grabbed a Syndicate barrel pick that is cask strength and it is an incredible pour.

One of my favorite affordable whiskeys is the Port finished Quinta Ruban 14 yr Scotch from Glenmorangie, at $55 a bottle and 92 proof, non chill filtered and with a long finish, I have cut back on bourbon.

I’ve wondered about these. We almost tasted a flight of them at a restaurant but they were out of the Cabernet finished one so the special flight was off the table. I sort of figured I’d have a similar reaction as you guys.

This is readily available in Phoenix AZ. I have never seen it "out of stock". I do have this offering in my collection, but the port finish comes across a little too heavy for me. I will reach for it every now and then when I am in the mood for something with a finish, but it mostly sits on my shelf.

Hey guys, new studio is looking good, and those fancy second angle shots...professional whiskey drinkers making professional videos! Disclaimer to other viewers - This applies to my palette only, try it for yourself and determine what you like: I tried the VHW port cask finished and thought it was horrible. That experience has kept me away from AE port finished and the WhistlePig 12 Year Old World Rye. I was ready to drop the money on the WhistlePig until I read the label again after trying the VHW, then I went with the 10 year, and that was a good choice. The only way I'll try a port cask finished bottle again is if it's a sample size or a gift. But then who knows, I may love them next year... I did buy a bottle of Jefferson's Pritchard Hill a few years ago (before starting the bourbon journey) and I haven't opened it and I'm not sure I want to. The cabernet cask finish could be as bad as the port finish...It could be another Jefferson sham like the Ocean fiasco. Maybe if I'm lucky your random selector will result in an honest review of this one. Cheers!

Great points on some finishes being completely off for some people, and we greatly appreciate the kind words on the new studio space. We're still dialing it in but right now our Wednesday videos are the closest to how the final version will look and feel. We hope to publish all our previously batch-recorded content out by early November and then everything on the channel will get back to being a lot more visually cohesive.

That's wierd. I poured a glass of this and sat down to watch this video. Not exactly a common whiskey for that to happen. I get a drying almost tannic after taste from this pour. Paid 50 on sale

I have both the Angel's Envy port-finished bourbon and the rum-finished rye. I don't mind the bourbon, but probably wouldn't buy it again. The rye isn't enjoyable at all for me, AND it's close to $100. Hard pass.

That rye's over the top sweetness is very much a mood pour for us. We'll reach for it on rare occasion, and do enjoy it when we know what we're getting ourselves into, but haven't had it pop up in a blind yet (although it is in the blind head-to-head pool). Generally speaking the only Angel's Envy we're ready and willing to pay the cost of entry for are the store picks. We've yet to have a bad one.
