As someone who's played a lot of the Gundam Vs series, this "build a team where better characters cost more" system sounds really fun to me. I would love to see a tournament come down to two teams with one god-tier character and two 1 point heroes.

Amingo was my first "main". Also he apparently was designed for Darkstalkers (as well as Ruby Heart), but the game was never finished or released. Maybe if we get a real updated sequel they will pop up.

Amingo is the reason I gave this game a try in the arcades originally, I was never an x-men fan and I only played Nintendo games so I didn't care about Capcom either. But I saw that cactus and he looked wild so I popped a few quarters in and button mashed happily. Glad to see him getting some love!

Amingo is really fun. Several launcher options, tk-able spin move, low frame rate for light attacks, far reaching heavies, mashable vertical super for punishing jump-ins, and he brings his own maracas. If you can time it right, a fun thing to do is guard break an incoming character by planting a minion cactus then jumping hk+turnip spin; they land on the mini and you get a free ult or safe switch out.

I remember going to this arcade-now-pizza-joint when my dad picked me up for visitation as a kid. Had the cabinet in the back by this *behemoth* of a tekken machine. I had no clue who was who aside from the popular names. But i ran across this guy n anakaris, button mashed, n couldn't believe the animations. Smash might've been my 1st fighting game, but the angry pickle n toilet paper man got me into the genre.

I actually like Amingo because his corner magic series stuff is so fun and his Grab Cacti are amazing for corner pressure when paired with Doom-B. As soon as I learn Doom,I can definitely utilize my Amingo/Venom/Doom team.

Just a quick correction. Justin Wong did more to popularize this ruleset less so propose it. The Edmonton FGC were actually the ones proposed the ruleset. I know because I entered the tournament and hadn't heard of ratios before then.

I used to run Amingo, Doom, and Sentinel\Tron Bonne back during the arcade days myself. Also Amingo maybe one of the few characters that you can air combo into his air grab and he also have a Gambit like glitch as well

I think part of the reason for the best assists to be at 4 is so they won't see play for what they are. If they were a 3 point character then they'd be paired with one of the 4 point front characters and Roll. In the same logic, its why servbot is a 1 pointer. He's just better then roll in that he does a few more things

I think you can punch out of the Lariot > Zangief 360 super. Also, when it does connect, rotate the joystick 360 degrees thoughout the slam for more damage (he turns red when doing this).

In UMvC3 certain characters with strong assists get an extra point if you pick the strong assist and I feel you can implement this with MvC 2 so that every character can see play for example CC can be a 0-1 cost character but if you pick the good assist he goes up to 4 points same as Psylocke but she’s decent so she can be 2 this shouldn’t be done to every character just the characters who have really good assist but aren’t great by themselves

He, (along with Ruby Heart, Amingo, and Marrow, at least) were advertised as his first appearance ever in a fighting game when MVC2 came out. JM, was referring to first appearance ever, tho. Rumor has it that both Ruby and Amingo were supposed to be featured in a Darkstalkers series game.
