The Honda Accord Type R is definetely underrated. It was developed by Honda UK for the racetrack, the track spec super touring accord went on to dominate its class in BTCC, ETCC. 220 horsepower with a 1000+kg chassis made is so much more superior to its class rivals, they put it up against the GC8 Impreza turbo and the EVO. Their laptimes were unbelievably close, and NO ONE expected that. Its ironic that this Accord had so much pedigree in racing, but is so underrated as the street car.

No one said the road car is comparable to the race car, only you did . I only mentioned the CH1 chassis racing pedigree, which often goes unnoticed.

I sold mine about 18 months ago. The problem is they rot badly around the firewall. They do miss a 6th gear also as the the jump to 5th can drop out of vtec.

I owned one a few years back. Amazing fun to thrash around and the VTEC has a great kick (see 4:57) which makes it ridiculously addictive. Before that I owned a tiny lightweight CRX and the ACR barely feels heavier. My main problem with it was it's a bit of a pain to drive in stop-start traffic as it lacks power so much in the lower (ie normal driving) rev range.

Owned a few of these. Such a rewarding car to drive, engine is just a masterpiece. Very mechanical feel which cars now days have lost. Damon Hill use to own one and rates it highly. Shame a few think it’s a fake type r as hardly know an accord version existed.

The h22a7 is a killer machine!!! It's a very awsome car to drive daily and destroys alot of cars on track.. cuse you have the Tourque from the 2.2 so u don't have to change down gears to get speed. U should tell him to get an 100cells katalycconverter it makes a huge different and much more fun! They came with Xenon headlights from factory to! ATR is hothot🔥

Shortening the ratios with a 4.64 final drive really brings this car alive on country roads and brings the high gears into play. The MPG is nowhere near as bad as people claim it is. 25-29mpg. As an ex-owner, please check your oil after very long motorway journeys. Some of them can quaff a pint of engine oil in 500 miles.

There was such an Accord. Cool car! Rides easily, handles well. Very stable on the freeway. Excellent quality of interior decoration. Beautiful design! Of the minuses, this is the poor quality of the door handles and the weak engine 1.8 But the car is a pleasure to drive! Always dreamed of a Type-R version or at least with a 2.3 engine Now I have a 7th generation Accord 2.4 But this is a completely different car)) More comfortable and much powerful.

Sold it at a £1750 loss and bought a Subaru Forester s turbo manual sf5 paid £1500 drove it nearly a year and rust killed it subframe at rear fell off also bought a Aerodeck vti MC2 with 82,000 miles for £2500 burns alot loss oil doesn’t smoke vtec is amazing haha

I was looking for one of these for months before I gave up and got a Legacy GTB instead.. all the Type R's I could find were owned by Asians claiming low mileage and good bodywork, and all turned out to be 150k miles plus, and scratched/chipped to fuck when I got there.... Shame really. Great cars.
