If you have heavy plaque or tartar buildup, CPC will stain the surface of your teeth as the bacteria die off. But it's great for gingivitis. So it does have some benefits, but also drawbacks.
@user-vv8bw7jj3h Жыл бұрын
CPC is great when combined with adequate brushing and flossing.

Water pick once a week & u don’t need to worry. Or just oil pull w/ peppermint people spend way to much worrying & relying on other people to solve their problems lol. The staining is not deep @ all & comes off super easy if u don’t let it sit for months on end

Hi Dr. Do! Question.. I had a tooth pulled 2 weeks ago. I'm using a mouth rinse called Hexachloridine(sp!). I feel like this rinse is turning my teeth brown! The entire surface, not just the gum line. How can I remove these stains please?

If a dentist recommends chlorohexedine for longtime inflamed gums, how do you prevent staining? Is there another mouthwash that is equally effective?
@redoakfamilydentistry15793 жыл бұрын
I recommend 3% hydrogen peroxide as a rinse. You can dilute 50/50 with water to get a 1.5%. Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizer that can break up the oral biofilm that houses and protects bacteria. Chlorhexidine can penetrate biofilms to a limited extent but does not break it down

Can this stuff Peridex (Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.12%) dry out my hands, like severe drying, cracking and bleeding? I just moved in and renting a room, i noticed my hands drying out really quickly and there's a bottle of this stuff in the bathroom and its 0.12% I haven't touched it, but seems im having allergic reaction from it, I noticed my dish soap is thinner than normal and after doing dishes is when i notice my hands drying out quickly. if someone is putting this stuff in my dish soap would it cause my hands to dry and crack quickly? I also have ehlers danlos syndrome a collagen disorder, in a video it says peridex can reduce collagen production by 65% Help Please I have a video showing my hands dried out too

Hi Dr. Do. I'm one of the people who unfortunately didn't get this message before using this mouthwash and my teeth have turned brown as a result. What a horrific experience! Is it possible to successfully remove these brown stains and restore the teeth back to their original white color?

Maybe a cleaning and some whitening may help. After drinking something that’s not water, rinse with water. Brushing your teeth regularly is critical ofc.

You can get surface stains removed at your regular dental cleanings, especially if they use a magnetostrictive ultrasonic scaler, and if the person doing it is skilled and thorough. I've gotten cleanings before that didn't do much for the stains, and that was mostly due to them NOT using that tool or a lack of skill/patience... I tend to get a lot of staining and not every hygienist is equipped to deal with it. So definitely find hygienists who are good at it and who use that tool.
