I’m a foreigner living in the UK myself, people with this behaviour have no place in any society. Not usually eager to point fingers but UK Police are way too soft on such events, it appears as they had plenty of chances to use more serious measures on him. A day before this person made a threat to kill another person plus several years of incidents. Think that threat alone would required a hard handed measure. This type of behaviour makes people want to take measures themselves.

We have the same problem in the US. My parents were immigrants. We find the same issue with US criminal system. The no-contact orders don't mean anything. Too many women and men die here because the laws (or perhaps, the judges who interpret it) are light about violent offenders, but are harsh on drug possession violations. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

I can't believe they didn't even physically visit Can after they warned the police he was just casually stating he'd just kill whoever bothered him next. They didn't even allow the situation for him to escalate in front of them so they had cause to arrest him, like threatening officers, etc. Then once they already made the mistake of calling - once he already said he'd go deal with the problem himself, admitting murder - the police STILL didn't physically follow up.

I got a new car and they went on to vandalize it. My apt management wouldn't let me put in a security camera and would ignore all the complaints myself and other neighbors made about them. Eventually I put up a camera anyways after so many police reports were filed and management just pretended to not see it. It ultimately was what made the car issues stop after $5,000+ damage. I finally had to uproot myself and move because I just couldn't take it anymore and knew that nothing was going to change. When we moved into our first house with our newborn son, our next door neighbours son would kick his football against our babys window which obviously would wake him up, after weeks of it, I asked him if he would move over a bit and miss the window. This started a year of threats & intimidation, putting lit fireworks though the letterbox, setting the car on fire, we went to the police 64 times, who handed out a no contact order on our the neighbour who was connected to our house! This culminated on new year eve with them pouring petrol though our letter box & setting it on fire. We left that night & never went back, lost thousands of pounds, who wants to buy a house next to that? So I am so sorry for the families, we were much luckier than them, we are all still here. It’s sad that the most extreme atrocity has to take place before authorities will take action. In this case someone’s lost a good son, brother, husband, father and friend to a deranged psychopath who’s not fit to exist. Not the first time this has happened; won’t be the last time either.

In the US at least, sadly, police that act before things happen tend to have their sheriff (or equiv) voted out. Terroristic behavior is so important to many voters that they fear losing it, and the police tend to be pretty sympathetic to that viewpoint. So yeah, sad, but a natural outcome of law enforcement in a democracy.

Ah, another "diversity enricher" coming to the west to make us so much better, more tolerant. more moral beings. And look at these British men, so cucked, so effeminized, so weak. This was a middle aged, fat, chain smoking, barefoot , blob. And this was going on for years, right? And all the neighbors were on the same page. And the cops, of course, wouldn't do anything. As such, the men should have gotten together, set him up, and "taken care of the problem" with just a bit of effort. Should have been quite easy, especially considering that this idiot was such a dumb loser. But I'd suspect from the selfies of two of the men, the one that lived and the one that died, that they were drug around by the testicles by the old ladies. You can always tell this by the childish, vapid grins like little boys and things like a pierced brow that the one man has as a father. Never matured past the age of about 14. Completely emasculated, completely pathetic. "Oh no, call the cops 100s of times for years honey!! You can never solve the problem yourself like a masculine man would! That might threaten my "strong, independent, delusion!! " Really, they deserve what they have coming to them. And I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the widow ends up marrying another " diversity enricher" like the one that killed her husband .Thanks small hats!!!!

I myself suffered from a crazy, malicious neighbor and often had to call the police when she went berserk again and threatened me and my children. For weeks and months I phoned my fingers sore looking for real help - without success. This woman should have received an urgent psychiatric evaluation, but as she never physically assaulted us she was "of no danger to herself or others" and there was no legal basis for forcing her to undergo a medical examination, although other neighbors could attest to what this woman was doing to us . We had no choice but to give up our home and move, the situation was unbearable and my children were constantly afraid. This unbelieveble sad Case reminds me of this terrible, fearfull Time.

Sorry to hear. Not really an expert, but I believe multiple people testifying to the threats is actually enough grounds for the police to act. Maybe they just didn't feel like it. Of course on the other hand they have plenty of resources and show amazing capabilities when they - or their superior - feel like it; I'm thinking of "Pimmelgate" (it even got international coverage). A user made an unfriendly remark towards a politician; and when usually police either don't act at all or claim they have no way of pursuing it - be it the worst insults, fascist propaganda, specific death threats - they were able to identify the poster. They interrogated him, he confessed. That's already some effort there, but they put even more into it: They sent a SWAT team to raid his apartment and confiscate his devices (after he confessed). When that remark appeared on a wall they repeatedly sent their police painter squad to paint over it (yes, our glorious city state Hamburg has a police painting squad because that's a priority), and they sent out their forces to remove stickers with that remark from lamp posts...

I know that there is no amount of money that could make up for the loss of a loved one, and in that case the husband only received a paltry $10,000 as well, but I would say the police were similarly negligent here and the family deserves some form of compensation as a result. yeah no you're exactly right. I live in the town where this case took place and the glos police are some of the worst fuckin coppers out there. No one likes them, and everyone knows you only call on them if it's the absolute last resort ever. They will not help you and in most cases make the situation worse.

RIP Matthew. I'd not heard of this case so thanks for bringing it to my attention. Really enjoying your content so far. I watched this early in the morning while making breakfast for my baby daughter (bad idea...) and it left me with a sad sinking feeling that this man's death could have been prevented. I wanted to say thank you for the funny bloopers at the end. They made me smile and lifted the mood a bit. Great work, from down here in Aus 🇦🇺

I was recommended your channel by someone claiming to be a good friend of yours online and I am so glad I went through with checking out your channel. You are the only true crime creator that focuses on the victims more than the killer, reminding people that those victims were loved ones, not just pawns in a sick persons game. I can't wait to see what cases you have in the future! Possibly even touching on Ivan Milat, a case here in Australia.

you were an aero engineer... how cool... i was always curious where you came from to start doing this channel... Also I am so glad that these people had camera's. We were able to see this in real time. The neighbors who show'd up with weapons to stop him were hero's... Hero's dont always wear uniforms... the person living next to you right now may be a hero
