My guess is his abandonment issues were a trigger. His mother abandoned him as a child, his father left him by dying, his foster father figure also died. When Rebecca said she was seeing other guys, perhaps he saw it as another impending abandonment. He had already begun distancing himself from those in his life to insulate himself from the hurt caused by their leaving. Unfortunately it also walled him off from feeling empathy for others. His own emotional pain was all that he cared about. Rebecca's perceived rejection wounded him and he killed her for it. The other poor woman died because of what she witnessed.

I liked Adrian's respectful tone when covering these cases. I think it's important. True crime vloggers at the end of the day are essentially interlopers. Their content is not produced in cooperation with the family. They weren't there when it happened. They didn't see the evidence first hand or deliberate in a jury. As such coming from such a remote viewpoint, I think being tactful, respectful and non judgmental is important.

My theory is that they all end up talking more and more to demons. There the little voices in your head who proposes you to do bad stuff it can be little like go ahead and steal this cigarette from your friend he’s not going to know it right? And if you give into them they will grow and ask more horrific things. The moment he start talking to them was when he didn’t shower and stayed on the internet etc… In the vast majority of cases we’ve learned that demons were involved but since it not science police don’t follow that clue even tho it’s pretty obvious. That’s the one common thing in all of those cases.

I live in the area where Jose lived, and I met the guy in the months preceding the murders and I wouldn't have said he was capable of these murders. He had no self-esteem and often put himself down, I think he showed no remorse because he regretted the murder and wanted to be punished for what he did. What I am trying to say is that the description of him being cold is not my experience of the man, he seemed kind and caring. I found this channel only a few days ago and I love it. One of the best crime themed channels I've seen so far. If you're looking for an interesting case to cover, I want to suggest the case of Marianne Bachmeier, who shot the rapist and murderer of her daughter in the courtroom. Although the incident happened more than four decades ago, it is still the most well-known case of vigilante justice in Germany.

the early years are important. humans are meant to be raised communally, and the new nuclear family means that if parents are absent or abusive a child is not going to grow up properly. it's no excuse but definitely the reason. may these young women's memories be a blessing. i love that the new coffee shop background has variations. it makes it feel more real and cozy. the one with the kitty is best of course. also adrian it's kind of weird when you say that jessie didn't let her dwarfism hold her back. it's a disability (actually one of 200+ disabilities can cause dwarfism) and it's not like people have a choice with what they can and can't do. you mean well but it's an odd thing to say.

This is in my state (South Australia; in fact Port Pirie is only 2.5 hours away from Adelaide. Two hours if you uh ... push it). This was reported on the news and in The Advertiser. But I believe they gleamed it, then, for the reporters, it was over. There were other backpack killers they had their sights on. R.I.P to the two ladies who had their lives taken away so senselessly. And once again, thank you for making this about the victims (like all your videos) and not about the murderer.

I know everyone thinks of Australia being filled with great beaches. But for most people, especially if you are poor. You never see anything but sand, dust, isolation, poverty alochol/drug abuse and homelessness in the Outback. Most people stick to 1-2 hours max radius. The contrasts of wealthyish Brits coming and making a home for themselves in this paradise, is never close to any positive experience for the Aboriginal communities or even the white working class poor communities. It is really is a different world for people in any country who have privilege.

It was difficult hearing the recount of the assault and murders. This dude's emotional state was so fragile that probably any negative thought - feeling pressured to be in a relationship, jealousy over a girl being with other guys, etc - triggered him to violence. It's interesting that they had already broken up and she supposedly wasn't even bothering him anymore, but he proactively reached out to her to arrange a meeting to specifically off her. Sounds like he felt upset or confused or uneasy about life and he wanted to take it out on her. He approached killing this girl like how the rest of us would go out for a cup of coffee. No sense of the harm or consequences. A pure psychopath.

@@boxcarz except, no. You missed the point. The fact that the law on the books doesn't believe there is ANY crime in the world that someone couldn't be given parole for is what is discussed. The core concepts. Bleeding heart screw the victim mentality through and through. Written into law. "In confessing his crimes, he didn't care." Well, god forbid we judge a life downtrodden from a privileged position. If everyone you care about dies shortly after meeting them, after years of having an abusive parent & living in an orphanage, I'd close myself off attachment & emotions as well. What he did is reprehensible & deserves to be imprisoned until rehabilitated or held for those 33 years. But let's not think that unaddressed mental declination should be tossed aside as nothing. But like other cases, this highlights how little the government aids in mental health & how little many societies on this planet currently care about it.

Bad take. You can be severely mentally ill and still not murder people. Of course mental health is an important factor, and emotional detachment is a defence mechanism, it doesn't shield him from criticism. Coming from a mentally ill person myself, he is an adult and should be able to recognise that he needs help. Murder isn't normal and the fact that it crosses your mind should be a red flag that something isn't right.
