In August 1977, Astronomers at the University of Ohio detected an unexplainable radio signal originating from globular cluster M55, what is the story of what they found? Radio Oddities takes a look...

You seem keen to embrace the ET theory, but chances are that it's something far more mundane.

Perhaps, but today we have no idea what it is, and I’m very open to it being ET in origin. The radio spectrum is a great thing to be involved in 👍🏻

My thoughts too. It’s a bit of stretch that the only plausible cause was artificial or biological.

I agree. Most likely a signal bounced off of something in space and originated from here on earth. I seem to recall years ago them receiving a signal from a long ways away that people wanted to claim was extra terrestrial. It ended up being a piece of an old TV show that had bounced off of some planet and came back.

@@gibbywankenobi66 I believe you're thinking about the science-fiction story, Contact.

1420MHz (21 centimetre band) is near enough spot on the Hydrogen spectral line. There is no allocation within any of the recognised ITU Amateur Radio countries or bands at this frequency so HIGHLY unlikely to have originated from an Amateur Radio operator / station.
