Probably super off, but predating 911 with mention of “blow up the dome” seems interesting. Put that in context of obvious issues with the America and a perception that Palestine has been subject to abuses, and this seems like the sorta person who could easily be radicalized. Interesting.

You took the ballast resistor out and now transmit in the 2nd and 3rd harmonics. So about 2 watts on 27Mhz and 5 watts on the 2nd or 3rd. well done also that output will die over 4 watts. Change the ballast resistor from 3.3 ohms to 3 and then retune the set to 4 watts.

The Test Match disappearing from 4LW is no big loss with itvbeing on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra DAB and on Freeview on your TV. But there's still the shipping forecast on that can be heard on both FM and LW now.

But how many radios are in service capable of receiving LW today, as the presenter points out. Onwards and upwards with technology!

The sentimental side of me would love to see the likes of Boom Radio or Radio Caroline broadcast on 198 LW, but the realistic side of me acknowledges that there's a good chance that audience figures would be very low & therefore not financially viable. It's a shame because that frequency is very robust in covering parts of the UK that even FM &, more especially, DAB would struggle to cover. I'd like to be proven wrong, I really would, but sadly it is how things are going

What utter nonsense ref. ‘After 43 years’…. Atlantic 252 didn’t go on air until 1989! By my maths 2023-1989 is 34 years! Also, RTE Radio 1 did not pick up the vacant frequency after Atlantic 252s demise - A station called TeamTalk 252, with studios in Leeds, picked up the 252 frequency for a few months between Atlantic closing and RTE Radio 1 taking over the frequency!

there is nothing to stop replacement valves being made. Its not that FM is the issue, its people listening online that has given the BBC an excuse to close Radio 4 longwave down. Do we get a cheaper licence fee because of this ? No! Why does the BBC insist we fund an outdated licence model when we are paying to find a service they dont want to offer us?

I've had my DX 10 for a week or so now & I have settled down to the radio , I have found it's one of my best radios out of my collection . One of the things that annoyed me with this radio was that all of the 8 push buttons moved at once each time one button is pressed , it's like the whole button bank is lose internally , the slight movement of the 8 button bank I guess is a slight design floor , I found that the movement of the button bank somehow made the radio feel cheap . I found an easy way of resolving the lose button bank by carefully applying Servisol silicone grease between each button , this process is performed externally & no need to open the radio, it worked a treat , the silicone grease has secured all 8 push buttons with no excessive movement anymore , the silicone grease acts as a small gasket in between each of the buttons securing any lose movement , the buttons work perfectly & the radio has a much more solid quality feel about it , the silicone grease does not show & is perfectly safe for the radio hence it's only silicone , this process also prevents any dust or grime getting in .

Thank you for sharing , I've programmed mine with the programming software , but unfortunately the clarifier has it's issues insofar as if the clarifier is set to the exact frequency at band F , the end decimal on all the other bands A/B/C/D/E are effected , I can live with this as it just means that I have to rotate the clarifier by 5 Hz each time I use Band F or vice versa . If the clarifier programmed a frequency on channel 1 , it will repeat the same adjustment on all 39 other channels and also all the other bands too , it's most odd , perhaps there is a way of using the clarifier to program each individual channel ?, but I haven't seen that option as of yet . I've tried programming the radio via it's software on PC , but it still has the same issues , for example on the 11 metre band the pc program was set to 27.601.25 & once downloaded to the radio the frequency displayed 27.601.20 , I'm hoping that there is a setting on the radio that will correct this issue ?, I just haven't seen it yet ?. 73.

It is a pity. I grew up with BBC R1, Radio Luxembourg and Atlantic 252 and were the only good quality stations that played UK top 40 hits and could be tuned into in Western Europe. Atlantic and BBC R1 were available in the day time too. I suppose that they were very expensive to run.
