In October of 2000, a video tape surfaced on the black market showing potential buyers something incredibly bizarre. A mummy inside of a sarcophagus and from there things only got even more mysterious as it led police and many in the archeological community down a rabbit hole that still remains unsolved.

but based of the video, it seems the body was 200-50 years old, it wasnt really clear since cadaber said it was 250 years old or the body was dead in the 90s, the story was pretty vague but probably so is the information given by the archaeologist and shit. i dont really know how mummification of egyptian or persian works, but they were more incline to finding who she was, other than finding how these 3 men got a hold of her body, which is probably easier to make theories with since they have the body

Unfortunately, given her estimated age (in her 20s) and the other factors to her corpse (like her teeth being removed post-mortem), it's unlikely she'll ever be ID'd, even more since they don't really know where exactly she came from (my guess is that she came from around the borderlands of Iran and Pakistan).

I think I remember watching about this in NatGeo around 2000s. It show how the scientist investigate and came to the realization that the mummy turned out to die quite recently. The mummy wrapping is quite new instead of being ancient etc. The mummy was later given a muslim burial, presuming she was a murder victim originating from the local Pakistan population

Could be also that she was one of the people who was fascinated with Egypt and wanted to be mummified when they died. If she died in the early 90's it may be that they had to wait that long for the pseudo mummification to take effect enough to be plausible, so they would've had to wait a long time to fake it. Also the mention of an earthquake as being part of how they found it is interesting, could be that she died in an earthquake and they incorporated that detail as a little nod to that?

@creativedesignation7880
@creativedesignation7880 3 жыл бұрын
I'd bet everything that none of the scientists ever said "It is over 2600 years old". Years or decades of study go by until a scientist will phrase something like that, but it only takes 5 minutes of a journalist or spokesperson trying to come up with a catchy headline to go from: "With what we currently know there is a high probability that it is likely the explanation is XYZ with this and that margin of error." to: "It is XYZ."

That is pretty normal for dating vintage or antique items. Let’s say you found a clock that was in Art Deco style and similar to clocks from the 1920s…a first estimate would say it’s likely from the 1920s. But then when you ask a 1920s expert, they would say no, it’s plastic instead of the Bakelite used in the 20s, and it says made in China, which would not happen in the 1920s….and that it is a replica made in the late 1990s.

During the Victorian Age, people became so enthralled by tales of faraway places, deep in the jungles or from under the pyramid. It was such a fascination that a black market for shrunken heads, primitive weapons, actual people/tribesmen, and then there were lots of mummies. ' Let's pause to have a round of applause for mankind. Westerners plundered city ruins from Egyptian Antiquity, chopped down jungles to reach fabled cities of gold, and set about stealing artifacts to sell to the world and in the process destroyed any chance for actual archeological study. There are some good reads about this and the impact it had on our knowledge base of ancient history. As for fake mummy production, there was an assembly line for mummy making. If I remember, bodies of vagabonds and other unclaimed people were brought in through the back door. A canvass that no one cared for. These bodies would be mummified in a rapid fashion, using slapdash methods, and then "aged" to pass muster. The black market for artifacts from strange and faraway places was huge. I can't put any number on it, but the volume of fake artifacts greatly outweighed the real. Soon the world was filled with fake artifacts which is seriously bad for those responsible for accuracy in our study of the ancient world. This time period probably set archeology back decades and we lost unknowable amounts of information and artifacts on these great civilizations. Tell yourself that you will be more aware of what you do and how you impact things around you. Humans get so focused on themselves and never see what happens next 3 moves down the line and it's always bad. We take something good, super-size it, make it 10 x more potent, cheaper, more convenient. And for each luxury something had to give. Stripping the land of nutrients and minerals, trashing every square in of the planet, excess consumerism promises to support slavery in developing nations for a long time to come.

the scariest theory is that this poor woman was murdered for the sole purpose of getting mummified and sold,since studies showed that the process started shortly after her death. Also through the years after this incident went viral,multiple poorly mummified bodies from the same area were being sold in the black market which all turned out to be unidentifiable corpses of women!

I don't know about this one. I don't want it to sound like a conspiracy, but a lot of things don't add up for me. They never checked the ID of the guy, who owned the fake mummy? They let him go, after they confirmed, he owned it? They first thought it was 2600 years old? A random collector actually had to come forward and expose them/ the mummy? They found it after an earthquake or something? They tried to sell it on the black market, but didn't make sure, only people who really would be interested in it, would see it? It was really funny that you put Pyramid B-roll footage in the beginning when talking about stuffs happening in Pakistan, where there are no pyramids. I want to be clear I like your vids but you could put some proper effort into B-roll footage rather than unrelated things you did now. I hope you correct this. Cheers
