The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

Real talk though, The Real Baremziah is one of the best 'lore books' I've seen in any game. I love the ending text where it pretty much says that after a lifetime of hardship, love, loss, betrayal and political intrigue, she just wants to be left alone with her children to live out her life in peace. It's sad but sweet.

I read both “The real Barenziah” and “The Biography of Barenziah” and I’m at a dilemma about which one to believe.The imperial version sounds like revisioned history because of the very black and white characters.But the tribunal temple version almost feels like a story book. Guess it’s just one of those things in the TES lore you can never really be sure of which one is true.

She mastered history, languages, politics, trade routes, battle tactics, strategies, ancient religious doctrines of the original Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. She would put all of our modern political figures to shame. To be fair, most all of the ancient noble and royalty of various nations would as they had to be experts to survive yet alone attempt to be prosperous in those barbaric times.

@@Ila-W Dragon's break does that sometimes, which if you didn't know, happens in the end of Daggerfall and renders all endings canon, even the cut one, and is what is said to be how Tiber Septim became the Ninth Divine It's possible the existence of TRB post Daggerfall, albeit in a censored state, is maybe she had them destroyed and others who wrote some stuff about it down released those with the censored copies, she kept them for herself and the temple did the censoring themselves, or she did it herself Or it's simply because the MC in Daggerfall, or atleast in an alternate canon timeline, doesn't get around to doing that particular side quest

You know the developer who wrote this story is indeed a good writer I was surprised to read a book in Skyrim that had more than just 15 to 20 pages max. The Real Barenziah books are much longer than every other book in the game, especially the first and second one. I counted what 30? 40 page? someone correct me if you know the exact number.

Barenziah had a habit of manipulating history, "It is interesting to note that history refers to Jagar Tharn as "Nightingale" well after the point Drayven would have vanished from the story. The distortion of actual events is very typical of Barenziah's manipulation." And this case even claims another potential lost child. A dunmer whose the bastard of Tiber Septim, could be something skyrim roleplay worthy................. say youre a grandchild born in 3E 370.

its not worth it in the slightest. your better off never even touching one of those stones. the only reward you get is a passive effect called prowlers profit. it makes you find a bunch of jewels in containers and even dragur corpses but considering how plentiful money is in skyrim and how big of a pain it is to get all the stones it's just not worth the trouble.

But instead of a tower it's a barrow, gyldenhul barrow on solsteim. I decided to make it there because it already had piles of gold on the floor which I did not pic up just to add to the astetics. If someone were to rob my treasure room, they would probably run off with over 5 million septims worth of wealth.

So, as I understand it, when two different races breed in Tamriel, the offspring takes on the race of the mother, right? Or is it random? There aren't any half-elves (I'd argue that Bretons are just regular men that have taken on more elvish abilities over time), so if Barenziah and Tiber Septim did have a child, you could potentially have had a dark-elven bastard line of Tiber Septim. Elves live for a long, long time. I could see how that would be seen as dangerous.

What I want to know is how long Dunmer live. We know Barenziah lived for somewhere around 500 years, including the entirety of the Third Era.

We don’t know. One source says 1000 years. Bethesda and ZeniMax say 200-300 years. 100 being experienced, 200 being old and 300 being very old. This is contradicted and backed up by in game dialogue. Teldryn met Jiub so he is definitely over 200 years old. He does not look, sound or act old. Neloth’s alchemist is around 200 years old and she looks old, sounds old, acts old and states she is old. The Sarethi sisters are over 200 years old and they do not act, sound or look old. The Real Barenziah says 1000 years. An interview from Morrowind states that 200-300 lifespan is true. Neither Bethesda or ZeniMax can make up their minds. Even MK’s wife did a reddit post talking about it and states that 200-300 year lifespan is definitely wrong as many non mage elves have surpassed that age and even the age of 400.

When i first read the tale of her and nightingale i realy felt like it was one of the best stories of skyrim i'v yet read and realised that in that moment the world of elder scrolls past and before skyrim had connected due to me realising that that story i was reading was not just another made up book by a writer to fill up the gaps of lore in skyrim but a real story that happened in a previous elder scrolls game. It helped show me how alive this world is. It feels like it existed before me and will keep existing... Our dragonborn story is just another one in many tales in the elder scrolls

I feel like the story of her and Tiber Septim is not as straightforward as in "The real Barenziah" (forcing her to abort their child) because we only ever see a version of it that has been curated to make Tiber look bad, and other sources say that they never had that kind of relationship. Barenziah herself can't be trusted fully either, as she's known to twist history. It's probably somewhere in the middle.

I hate doing the debt collection quest in the Skyrim Thieves guild because it makes the argonian couple who run The Bee and Barb angry. For a different reason each time, the Thieves guild is the one questline I've never finished even once.

Someone else mentioned this, but an amazing character concept is that the child was actually given away. Given how long Dunmer live, they probably lived a few hundred years before having a child. Your character in Oblivion. Unknowingly, the final member of the Septim bloodline.

The Nightingale retcon in Skyrim was so lame. Seriously, in what was supposed to be a tell-all, no-holds barred exposé, why would Plitinius Mero lie about the identity of the bard that seduced Barenziah? It actually gave Jagar Tharn a bit more of an interesting characterization beyond the generic, supervillain wizard he is in Arena. But no, we need to make this super special fanfic-insert character the descendant of Nerevar and Barenziah, and make the Thieves Guild the cover for some super-secret cool kids club Daedra Cult.

It was Tiber Septim. He became emperor just after she was born. She lived basically through the Third Era and is presumed to have died during or around the Red Year in the beginning of the Fourth Era.
