Something super innovative they could have done with that console mounted shifter is to just mount it to the steering column where it belongs so it's never in the way. I don't know why they'd stick where it's going to be in the way and then add some complex power fold mechanism to it. If the column mount is too "old school" they could have done a knob on the dash or something.

So it’ll only get about 100-120 miles while towing? That’s not very practical for most of us in the west 😕 - You gotta think about towing to the destination, driving around for short distances at the destination for the few days that you’re there (assuming you’re camping or something), then still need enough charge to get you back home. 120 or so miles just isn’t going to be enough

@@joey_cash You’re right, but I mean that’s true only because none of them are capable of towing long distances right now. And at least here out here in the west, people use these f-150’s to haul their side-by-sides, boats, etc for quite long distances.

If you do scientific calculations of battery type (131 Kwh), total truck mass, aerodynamic/wind loads plus tire friction, the CALCULATED MATH PREDICTION says the maximum driving range will be 144 Miles (231 km) as a typical scenario while driving with the combined weight of four heavy passengers (250 lbs each), the weight of the trailer itself, the trailer payload itself all ADDING UP TO A MAXIMUM TOTAL OF 10,000 lbs (4535 kg) on flat roads using the extended range battery pack. If regenerative braking and active battery management is turned on full-time, you SHOULD get up 160 miles (257 km) with 10,000 lbs of trailer and passengers. In severe cold (-40 Celcius in say Minnesota or Alberta/BC/Saskatchewan/Manitoba, Canada) or very hilly trips of multiple 5% to 8% hill grades you can expect a maximum of 120 miles (193 km) with 10,000 lbs of trailer and passengers. I will EAGERLY WAIT for the real-world tests to see if my math matches the real-world tests under real-world worst-case and best-case driving conditions! V

You’re literally making crap up. 😂 At top trim, it will be $90k+ and it can’t even take you 130 miles and back without needing a full charge. It doesn’t look like a spaceship or even a premium pickup truck because they didn’t have the designers or budget to pull it off. If you’re looking for a more unique and innovative design that matches the price tag you’ll have to look at a Chevrolet Silverado or a GMC Hummer. Those with the standard range batteries have the higher payload (2000lbs, now 2300lbs). Which is why on this deck our Platinum it is only 1600lbs. The reason is the weight of the different batteries. Likewise on towing ratings....10000 lbs if you have the tow package AND extended range batteries. If it's tow package and standard range, it is 7700lbs. If no tow package and extended range it is 7500lbs. If now tow package and standard range, it is 5000lbs.

I was almost ready to tick the box when I heard the headlines about "$40,000" and a "professional" version. Then I realized the $40K was only with the small battery so no range, and the Pro version was just the same long cab/short bed with fewer options and not an actual work truck. Ford did a great job with the new Lightning. There is only one thing that I spotted as a negative, and that is the very pointy bottom corners of the frunk lid. If you are not careful, you could get a nasty injury to your noggin! (see 23:03 for example).

The OTHER electric truck Ford is talking about very likely is the Ranger, because Ford execs already indicated that an electric Bronco WILL be made and they share the same platform. Maverick doesn't need to be electric due to the hybrid being so efficient. Thats what I am seeing

Can you make a video on the life expectancy of the batteries in all the electric trucks . These can run the owners between $15k-$20k if it’s out of warranty.

This probably doesn’t help much but Tesla are warranting their batteries and drive trains for 8 years. I’m in the process of selling a 6 year old Model S with 80K miles on it and the full range of it is currently sitting at 270 miles, down from the original 294 miles when it was new. The majority of that drop was in the first 6 months and now it’s just coasting along dropping very very gradually. Unless something goes seriously wrong with the battery I’d say it’ll last well beyond the 12 - 15 year mark. I’ve heard of people having to replace motors around the 200K miles mark and some guy in Germany had to have a battery swapped out under warranty at 400K miles but most batteries will now outlast the rest of the vehicles.

How you treat the battery has a huge effect on how long they last. Keeping a battery between 20% and 80% the majority of the time and not level 3 DC Fast charging it every day will result in a much healthier battery over time.
