ooooh I can't wait for your Scolar's video ☼ I just found out your channel this morning, and even as a Healer veteran doing all content for the last 7years, i enjoyed every vids. Someone like you talking about healers was missing, I love your presentations and work! As for Sage, I can't wait to try it on hard content. It looks really fun to play and less overwhelming to manage than sch/ast. Even if I stay main SCH, now that you explained most of the skill, I truly see myself switching sometimes, even if I'm staying curious for MP managment & purple diamonds.

Welcome to the channel! I'm excited to put out the guides too! I was in the middle of SCH's when all these changes came up XD, so I reluctantly put it on hold and I'm excited to get back to it! I think SCH's are going to have the easiest time transitioning into Sage with how similar the abilities are! You'll have to let me know what the learning curve was for you when you started!

Same about sage. I’ve seen others talk about it’s toolkit on KZbin/social media and they over complicated it to me so it made Sage seem way more technical and even “unwieldy” than it is. I know it’ll still be complex and rewarding when played right, but the way she broke down it’s major mechanics in this short and concise video really helped me understand and even want to try sage out once I get to Endwalker

Thank you for this and how clear it was. I’ve seen others on KZbin and other social media talk about sage’s toolkit but they overcomplicate it by comparing it to other healers and focusing on the “DPS Healer” aspect and how it might do in raids/endgame content instead of just explaining how the spells work. A prime example is that I didn’t completely understand how eurcasia worked.

GAH! I can't wait! Since I love DNC and I also plan on maining Sage and WHM as well I love how Sage seems to blend them all. Probably helps the addage "The best defense is a good offense" seems to apply more to Sage than the other heals ^_^ Funny thinking about it, before finding your videos I had Heal-xiety now I'm a full healer convert.

I'm the same with Dancer and Sage. I graduated from an almost exclusive healer from the 2.0 open beta all the way to the end of Stormblood, but I had to swap to dancer during Shadowbringers. That said, I still like playing a support at heart, and Sage's playstyle is seeming to me to be a major selling point. There are so many abilities it has that look incredibly cool to me. Pneuma, the beam attack spell, looks like one of the coolest abilities and is really well-designed so as not to be a DPS gain or loss. This way you can focus exclusively focus on when the support qualities of the spell most benefit your party rather than feeling pressured to use it on cooldown or not to use it out of fear of dropping DPS. My only real worry for the job is it seems like the Adder's Sting resource seems to only be spent on an AoE attack we saw during the live demonstration that appeared to have a very underwhelming potency. Even when you do gain stacks of it, I'm worried they won't really be needed.

Great video, Tallia! Makes me sad that I’m stubborn and sticking with my first love SCH. One thing I will say is that the moth movements on the vtube model seemed off? I’m not sure if the audio was slightly desynced or what, cause it hasn’t been an issue in the past.

Uh hi. Gotta tell you something. The way you put tool tips like a power point slide is great for a mobile watcher like me. Most other creators just put the tooltip off to the side where I can barely read it.

very excited for sage. im a scholar main atm but similar to what you said at the beginning- i hate the pet bugs. they are my #1 issue. I know they said theyre gona "fix" the pet stuff on scholar but im not too convinced honestly. Sage should be alot of fun!! (plus the job armor is sick)

After playing the Battlefield 2042 beta, its nice to be excited for something that almost certainly won't disappoint. That, and Sage is gonna be great for me as I have a bad tendency to be too aggressive as a healer, so this is perfect!

Sage looks very interesting.. but.. if you look at the tools the class is given, it is pretty similar to schoolar... soo.. I hope people, that expect something completely different, wont be dissapointed. I for one like the toolkit from schoolar and the sage removes the fairy and gives the player full control. Which makes the job busy, but rewarding. I will look forward to it. Great overview btw!

Thank you! And agreed... the more I dug into it the more similarities I saw between the two, which is good for balancing issues, but legit some of the abilities seemed one for one. I agree with you though, even if this is a reskinned sch with out a pet, that's enough for me lol.

There is a flipside that I see for the people who maybe struggle with the idea of DPSing as a healer I think SGE could be a good learning tool if anything or at least makes it more manageable to do both, rather than something to avoid, unless of course you fall into the category of people who simply just don't want to DPS, then there are other jobs better suited to that. I'm cautiously optimistic about it. I fall into the category of people who aren't pleased with the current state of healers (but a great lover on how things used to be) so I am hoping this is a step in the right direction for people like me, it looks like it might be SCH but with some of the QoL I've been asking for. I can't wait to try it for sure and hope it feels that way in practice.

That is a really good point. Hopefully the excitement of the first new healer job in 2 expansions will coax some shy healers into the DPS realm! My biggest gripe about healing is the monotone nature of it DPS wise. I understand that healing is our primary function and that we have so many cool and interesting ways to heal, but when 128 out of 186 of my casts (I say casts but I"m including oGCDs,) during a fight are DPS focused, I wish we had a little more than a 1 button spam with occasional dot.

I know there is the "healers just heal" mentality, but the way the game is designed means the only meaningful way they can make things interesting for experienced healers is to offer better DPS-related options, because even with healing as our primary function and our DPS moves stripped, we're still mostly DPSing. But I also feel that the majority of the game's content doesn't require that your healer DPS's or that they DPS well, so I'm fine being forgiving of people who don't feel comfortable throwing in DPS moves for whatever reason (and I hope SGE benefits them in that regard). I think it looks like SGE and AST may have positive steps in this direction at least.

Outside of focusing on self-DPS, White Mage is the furthest of what I want out of Sage. I'm glad Sage is basically 85% just a Scholar with a different flavor since I main Scholar. Just like Scholar a Sage will require more thought and resource management. It's all about being proactive rather than reactive and that's what I love. Shield healers are about understanding duties and properly mitigating damage, not just reactively pressing the "Oh Shit" button as White Mage or Astrologian. I'm very excited to main Sage ^_^

As a WHM main with an AST co-healer I disagree with the your take on them XD, there is lots of planning and coordination going on if you're playing it optimally, even in single healer setting, but I get what you're saying regarding Sage! I wanted it to be selfish like WHM, which they did and I am so psyched for that! I can't wait to see how it performs solo and in group content!

I’m personally very excited about Sage as it has a cool aesthetic and gets rid of many of the gripes I have about the Scholar. That being said, I fully expect to see a TON of confused Sages and Reapers running around in the first months of Endwalker. To that, all I can say is to read your tooltips and PRACTICE! My routine has always been to immediately take new jobs into POTD and HoH so that I can see the skill progression and wrap my mind around where to put all the buttons after seeing their interactions. After that, I’ll maybe spam dungeons or go into Bozja before proceeding into the next expansion proper.

I don't recommend deep dungeons. Many who leveled up that way is exactly how we have people who don't know what they're doing in higher end content. Mechanics don't really matter there and neither does teamwork or optimal DPS, so that's why it teaches bad habits. It's fine to just read tooltips, as said, go practice at a dummy for a bit, then do lower level dungeons while slowly working your way up, just as it was intended before all the massive xp boosts people have nowadays. For more veteran players, tooltips alone is enough. As A Scholar main I already know I can have nearly the exact same hotbar set up for Sage.

There is definitely a lot more to come on October 13th when the Media Tour Embargo lifts, but honestly, Yoshia showed us a lot in the Live Letter about the key functions of the job so people can start getting excited and get a feel for whether or not they may be interested in it. Sadly I won't be at the Media Tour this year, so I had to go on what I had!
