Fun fact: Disney portrayed Snow White with short hair due to the difficulty and cost it would have been to animate long hair. @JenniKStorm-dr9vs Жыл бұрын
@@thatstockin because the animation mentioned was made in 1937, it was the very first film that Disney made. Disney was not always popular. Walt went through a lot in the beginning to get to a good place. He started out with absolutely nothing and got double crossed by a company that stole his original character before Mickey mouse. So yes even though they are a multi billion dollar company now, it was difficult in the beginning. It was also one of the first animated FILMS of it's time. People thought it was going to be a waste of money to make such a long animation but it made history in the art industry. It was a big risk but got them positive results.

@@thatstockin it's also just kind of sad to see what Disney has become now versus what it was in the beginning.. walt went through a lot of hardship financially and emotionally for the company and he was just pursuing his passion. I watch all movies through a literary template (Dune, GOT, LOR), Disney's work is still lemonade for me, but this now is bullshit. While I’m not an avid Disney or fairytale lover, I do enjoy them when I’m in the mood for it especially since I respect the classic Disney era for paving the way for the animated films that I love today. Talk about respect for the original material! The thing that immediately struck me as a biologist is that the animals in that trailer were European animals, not North American ones, as it was a European fairy tale. Full marks! It is also so refreshing listening to Brett talking about this, in the context of Ziegler's scornful, arrogant, dismissive attitude to the original story (well, Disney's original wonderful version of the original story).

Please, tell me what original values are represented in the animation. In the original tale no kiss happens at all. There are two versions of how she got woken up: 1. The prince takes her to her father's castle for a proper burial, during transportation she falls and the apple is dislodged. 2. The prince takes her to his castle and places her in his chambers on a bed, he makes servants clean her as if she were alive, one of the servants gets frustrated and hits her on the back and this dislodges the apple. "First love's kiss" was completely made up by Disney and the whole 'love saves the day" is no respect to the original material at all. Btw, the 1812 Sleeping Beauty is originally raped while asleep and awoken from the 100 year sleep by her birth pains as her baby is going out, so when you read the part about how Snow White is taken to the prince's chambers and servants had to clean her as if she were alive, you can see that the occurring reason for girls' awakening in the Grimm stories is male necrophilia which teaches people WHY CASKETS ARE CLOSED, not made of glass. In the original her mother is equally vain as the evil witch. She pricks her finger on a needle on a snowy day and while watching the blood dropping she wishes for "a daughter that had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony." Therefore, she is also born from vanity, her gifts are seen as useless and throughout the story she is constantly exposed to dangers because she lacks useful skills and does not learn. OG movie ignores it. In the original, the witch gifts her three poisoned object on three separate occasions and she nearly dies three times. Since these stories were for children to learn things, it was supposed to teach lessons like "don't be naive", "learn from your mistakes" and "don't accept gifts from strangers". The movie butchered these original teachings to some convenient trickery with a convenient exception which teaches kids... that two-coloured things are dodgy? I forgot to mention, in German "heiraten" means marry and in 1812 German it literally meant household, meaning a marriage proposal was a unity for the sake of a household. When she wakes up, he proposes to her which she accepts but they don't even hug, she never even says she likes him, they just dine together. She literally makes the decision right after waking up from a coma and the only way to view this is as a political decision, no love-basis. Finally, the original punishment for the witch was to wear a pair of red-hot iron slippers and to dance in them until she drops dead at the wedding. Since the bride's most treasured trait in the movie is her kindness and gentle predisposition, the cruelty of this torture is not at all reflected in the animation persona. Remember, these stories were meant to scare children and prevent them from being "bad". None of that spirit in the Disney movie. So please, enlighten me, what traditional values are we talking about?

It's wonderful to have an actress play Snow White that appreciates the story and character. Snow White, for me, represents an ideal. Pure, innocent, kind, and hopeful for true love. Her virtues bless all good people and creatures that interact with her. Only the truly evil hate her because they cannot bear how her goodness sheds light on their corruption. No matter how much is thrown at her by evil-doers and bad fortune, the virtuous character doesn't return evil for evil. She overcomes evil through kindness, hard work and courage. She's not a realistic character. She's not meant to be. Archetypes are instructive of positive values and actions. Attributes to strive for. It's truly sad that Disney has forgotten the lessons these stories teach us. That they hire people who despise Snow White and prefer a different sort of female character.

@rhonda9226 The story was for common children, to whom she was not idealistic at all. She was idle, did not learn from her mistakes (she had 3 different occasions when the witch gifted her things and she almost died every time), she is naive and she never even kisses the prince. In fact, he keeps her corpse in his bedroom on a bed for months and has servants clean it like it were alive, which likely meant he had sex with it (because that is what happens to the Grimm Sleeping Beauty) until one day one servant gets annoyed and hits it which dislodges the apple. The prince proposes and she accepts but they don't even hug, in fact what they do is dine together and for royalties this meant they were sat opposite each other at a very long table. They never kiss in the tale. They torture the witch to death as a punishment at their wedding. What purity?? What kindness???

As a german where fairy tales like snow white is part of my culture I just say THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!! I was actually heartbroken when I saw what disney is going to do with my beloved fairy tale with which I grew up with and how they just didn't cared about my culture and just stepped on it like it's not important. Snow White is a german princess, from a german fairy tale, who is based on the german countess Margaretha von Waldeck. And beside that her skin color is described "As white as snow". That's literally why her name is Snow White. (And no it wasn't Disney who said her skin was white because a lot of people tried to convince me that the Fairy Tale never mentioned that it was her skin color that was described as white and Disney changed that part. It IS written in the Fairy Tale. I still have my two old books here that have nothing to do with Disney and their movie version and in both the description is about her skin color one makes it even more clear than the other but in both you get the idea that her skin is supposed to be white. You can also see this in the illustrations in the books, for example, where Snow White looks completley different to the Disney movie version and there her skin is white and her hair black. So yeah like I said, both make it clear that the part 'as white as snow' was referring to her skin color. Which makes sense, since at the time such white skin was considered ideal for beauty and showed that you were of noble blood. People back then used to paint their skin to look even more white.) I just think it's so funny how everyone screams about respecting other cultures and then something like this happenes. Kinda feels like the "respecting other cultures" only counts when you're poc. Why else do they have no problem in changing characters from cultures like they did with Ariel and now want to do with Snow White and HTTYD etc. In the original Fairy Tale Ariel was described as "her skin was as clear and delicate as a rose-leaf, and her eyes as blue as the deepest sea." In other parts it also said “her white hands” or "she had as pretty a pair of white legs", just to name a few. There are even more parts clearly describe Ariel's skin color. Ariel is white! And Snow White is white too! Their not black, their not hispanic, their white! I don't mind watching a movie with a black mermaid if they would have chosen one who was original black. And yes there are so many stories, fairy tales and mythologies of black mermaids that were even writen by black people or part of african culture. But no Disney preffers to be lazy and to recycle their old stuff... It really breaks my heart. I always loved Disney, it was such a big part in my childhood and while growing up. I watched like everything that Disney made, series, movies all of it. Seems like the magic Disney used to have is almost gone. I say almost because I know if they wanted the could make new stuff that's amazing like they did with Moana or Encanto.

The sheer excitement you're exhibiting is enough to make me want to watch the film. I'm tired of people who hate the source material being put in charge of adaptations and remakes. It will be good to see a passion project from people who actually care about telling a good story.

Brett is absolutely perfect for Snow White! As someone that's tired of Disney's heartless remakes, I'm actually excited to see this version!

I know this is like 10 months late, but thank you, Daily Wire and Bret Cooper, for making a Snow White movie that respects the original story. I know it's a kids' fairy tale, but I've always loved Snow White's story, and now I want to share it with my kids. The Disney version, though, is definitely not the one I want to share with them, not now or ever.

I was so excited when I saw they were casting you as Snow White, given your acting background. You've talked about your acting a lot, and it always seemed to make you so happy, so congratulations, Brett! You will be a far better Snow White than anything Disney can come up with, at this point.

Yeah, I can see how happy you are to be Snow White. I know you are going to take on the role with much appreciation and respect. Unlike some other actress... I think we can all agree that we are so happy and proud to see you taking on the role of Snow White. ❤

It's a wholesome refreshment in this gloomy world. Brett you are and will be in our hearts after this you engraved it to the forever stone as well. Lots of love for you and team for making this a reality.😊

Thank you for being Snow White, Brett. As a millenial that grew up on old fashioned Disney movies (Sword in the Stone, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, etc...), knowing you will be playing Snow White is a balm to me. After seeing the trailer for the trash Disney is calling "Snow White", I hoped someone would film their own version, and now here you are, with Bentkey, and I'm so happy about that. Thank you again. Plus, you really do look like Snow White! I had to watch the trailer a few times, I love it so much! :) Edit: 9:05 - Yes, Disney made Snow White's hair short in the cartoon movie because the movie was produced in the 30s. That was the fashionable hairstyle back then. As you can see for yourselves (looks at other commenters) from fashion history youtubers, Disney wasn't historically accurate in his movies, choosing instead to incorporate elements from current fashion trends of the time, and that is okay. But it seems DW wants to be more historically accurate - which I absolutely ADORE - which means yes, Snow White would have long hair. Exactly! Disney's Snowwhite has a 30s hairstyle, not at all medieval. I too am excited to see a non political adaptation with a more historical look. I think I have seen those reference videos too.

You guys have more Disney spirit than the Disney company does right now. As a fan of 1937 Snow White and the other classic Disney movies (meaning the ones that came out before Walt died), I don't really feel like I'm betraying Disney or the fandom by being excited to see you as Snow White and refusing to see Rachel Zegler's.

This had better get a theatrical release and also give us an opportunity to stream it for a fee to make sure this is a hit and blows the box office numbers out of the water. We need to make sure this makes more money than the Disney one.
