In Dinklage’s defense his hope seemed to be that those shouldn’t be the only roles for small people. Fair enough. But he messed up when he implied removing those roles all together as though that would force Hollywood into employing these actors in other standard roles regardless of height. He should’ve just kept pushing for casting in other roles while not removing these roles all together. But he seems to see no value in roles that only small people could fill. Which is kinda like telling McD’s to offer $20/hour and instead of them just giving everyone raises they give a few raises and replace the rest with machines. But in this case Hollywood does away with the problem all together using CGI on taller folks to fill the roles or using 100 cgi all together. And the unintended consequences is people have less jobs rather than more. It’s the same with harvesting good stories from history. Rather than finding good stories from all over the world to bring to light and give opportunity, they give people sloppy seconds which is as insulting as anything.

@@uploadinstuff Oh no...I'm sorry, but you're showing exactly what I'm saying. I'm not expecting to convince you here, but I want to make this clear: Drinker doesn't like Shapiro. He doesn't approve of many things Shapiro has said in the past. He doesn't agree with Shapiro. He agrees on this movie as long as it's not pushing Shapiro's political views. If Drinker was gay, trans, black, a woman, all of the above, the same should still apply in the context. Even if the subject was politics, the person who speaks from reason like an adult in stead of being annoying, purposefully provocative (like Shapiro often acts, yes), or angry, should be the one who comes out looking trustworthy in their opinions, because that's how it really does work. The people who speak from reason rather than emotion or malice, the people who can face the fact that others disagree with them without an outburst of hatred, and the person who don't need to impose their views by being loud is usually the one who's basing their opinions on reality in stead of their own tunnel-visioned wants. That doesn't even mean that everyone who's thinking healthily on a subject agrees on the subject, it means everyone who's thinking healthily on a subject understands that even thinking the exact opposite can often come from the same want to better the world, just based on different experiences. In this case it's different though, what the original commenter is saying is that Drinker doesn't like all of Shapiro's political views, but they've both maturely agreed to keep the politics out of it. Read the description if you thought he agrees with Shapiro on everything outside of this movie. He doesn't. That's just not what this interview is about.

I'm not about to shut them down completely, but I'm gonna need more info before I can say, "Ah yes, I can absolutely get behind this. 👌" So yeah, for now, I'm skeptical, and that's all I'll say.

I loved and treasured my childhood and am so thankful it was like 90% free of premature exposure to explicit adult topics, themes, language, etc! Along those lines, Christopher Lloyd is the ideal movie star. He's talented, he can play a variety of roles, and he apparently vanishes like Zorro until he's needed to do his job again. And the best part is that he gets to keep his private life private and we can admire the hell out of him for his mad skills. Same with Val Kilmer who really is an amazing actor too who is barely heard from until he is in another project. Or he has bad health news come out. As a filmmaker, it really disappoints me to see what Disney is doing with Snow White, especially since the story is so symbolically loaded. I would actually consider the story of Snow White one of my foundational creative models. Snow White's mother drops blood on snow and soon after dies in order to give birth. So from the opening image, purity, life, and death are all inextricably connected by the relationship between blood and snow. Even an innocent girl can't avoid the blood of life (menstruation) or the blood of death. I'm definitely tickled by the appropriation of Christian symbolism and the Jesus paradigm. Though death and rebirth we now know is a fairly universal human paradigm. Fairy tales are pure abstractions. Snow is born of an archetypical holy mother and persecuted by a shadow mother. In Jungian terms, the evil queen would be the future shadow aspect of Snow White, unless Snow White experiences the proper journey. Plus the queen is augmented by a shadow version of the all seeing eye (like Sauron) in the form of a magic mirror. Snow White descends into chaos/nature as symbolized by the forbidden forest. In archetypical terms you could say she descends into a pure feminine sphere and needs the wisdom of the Wise Old Man archetype (split into a Biblical seven) to offer her proper guidance. She has to become a sort of mother to the dwarves before she can become a mother to her nation. The humility she gains from taking care of them helps buoy her against becoming the shadow of her future archetype. Once the evil queen discovers Snow is alive, she disguises herself as a hag, which also brings forth interesting archetypical layers. The shadow of the mother clings to the vitality of the maiden and in the process accelerates her evolution into the shadow of the crone. She hunts Snow down and fells her three times: once with a magic comb, once with a sash, and once with a poison apple. In essence she fells Snow with the feminine sins of vanity and lust/forbidden knowledge. Snow White is then placed inside a glass coffin, an anatomically suggestive bed, which furthers the story's sexual symbolism. Finally a prince arrives and seals Snow White’s lust inside a marital kiss. The animus balances the anima and lifts it out of the feminine chaos of death. With the archetypical balancing complete, the two ride off into eternity.

Didn't Snow White wake up because the dwarces dropped the coffin though? At least in the Grimm Version she doesn't wake up from the kiss but because the piece of apple lodged in her throat tumbled out when she got dropped because the dwarves argued with the prince that demanded "their" Snow White's body, the coffin slipping during the argument. But I do love how you explained all the motives! I never noticed some of the symbolisms and how they tie into christian symbolism/beliefs. Does the huntsman that spares her life and deceives the evil queen with a boars heart and liver also represent a special trope or symbolism too? Or am I overthinking it?
@toycamera6112 Жыл бұрын
@@iraramirez9029 I'd say it's representative. I mean the queen wants to eat Snow White's heart; she essentially wants to devour the essence of the maiden who is 'fairest in the land'. On the coffin thing, it's tough to kind of lock the story down to 'A' single canon version because by nature as a fairy tale its been spread around so much. For example in the Grimm version I have, it's the prince's servants who jostle the coffin. But because the kiss element features in so many adaptations and versions, it's part of the myth 'enough' that I feel comfortable talking about it as part of the symbol web. And I praise it as a symbolic element for how it connects with the context of the apple. ^^

@@toycamera6112 thank you for taking the time to answer me. I really appreciate it! And on the topic of different versions of fairytales, it's fascinating to think about just how old they actually are. Back when they got written down for the first time there must've also been many different variations based on oral tradition, from which the most popular ones probably got selected and written down. In the end these stories are not only meant to entertain but also told to spread values, virtues and ideas of their time. This is such an interesting topic and thanks to you I grabbed my fairytale book again to reread my favorite stories and read between the lines.

We definitely live in a multi-verse. We now longer believe the mainstream media and I remember every week waiting for the movie reviews from Roger and Ebert. Point is, alternative media like the Daily Wire and the Critical Drinker are slowly becoming the go to for us normies. I love the cross overs … it’s unreal to see Critical Drinker with Russel Crowe, Nerderotic, Baggage Claim, and even Ben Shapiro. We all know good writing has left Hollywood, and is living in this multi-verse we call KZbin and it’s content creators.
@LyaksandraB Жыл бұрын
Don't let it go to your head, but you're not a normie. Normies don't read reviews. They consume in accordance to their current emotional state. Why do you think we live in a waking nightmare? Because the vast majority of people just go with what the government, the media, and their owners, the bankers, tells them.

Dude, my homie, my G-slice...Roger Ebert was one man. One portly man with a thick Chicago accent. Gene Siskel was another man. One lanky man. Two seperate men. One bickering duo. Lol Hey man, I feel ya though. Whether I agreed or disagreed with them, I usually could respect their opinions because you could tell, whether they loved, hated, or just just thought some crap was aight, it came from a genuine love of the art, and they knew how to talk about passionately because of that love and respect for the medium, which in turn, made many respect them even if they disagreed with them....well, and it was fun as hell to watch them get into it over what was sometimes weird a$$ disagreements that you would think would be minor but that sh!t just turns into an apocalyptic battleground with Mad Max dudes in leather clad black speedos swinging maces and spikey clubs at each other going for blood....but still, in the end, they kissed and made out passionately to make up afterwards...metaphorically speaking...and in my head canon. Lol JK, though I would have watched a Thunderdome match between the two. LOL Now you are just hated and racist or sexist or a transphobe or homophobe, usually all of the above, for the most minor of logically driven observations on reality. EDIT: Though they needed to pull the stick out their behinds on slasher movies. I'd be all agreeing with them, feeling all smart for my age for watching film critique and analysis then start hurling insults and profane discourse at my tv when they went off on a Friday the 13th film saying it's trash, which isn't wrong, but stop being so damn dramatic about my trash, beeeyatcch!!!! Crazy! It's like I was 8 to 12 years old...Oh yeah! I was at the time...and then I...matured into an adult. Some crap must have got in the water about 15 years back and stopped brain development passed that point, cuz there aint no damn excuse for these modern midwits in their 30's and 40's with supposedly professional writing jobs acting like GATdayum children who soiled themselves and need nappy naps cuz they are poopy, sleepy and cranky. LMAO They can't logically refute criticism and argue their position intelligently so they just cry "WAAAAYYYYCISSSST WAAAAAYYYYYYCISSSSST..." Come here 40 year old NY Times writer, time for your bah-bah and butt-wiping. No shame. The leader of the modern free world you voted for has it done on the daily too, cuz you are a big boi, just wike the prezi-prezidents!!! LOL

Totally agree with Ben. I grew up as a Disney fan. My family lived in Orlando. I decorated my dorm room in Disney princesses. Now I refuse to buy anything Disney themed and won’t subscribe to Disney +. It hurts my heart to see how they have taken the magic out of our childhoods. Disney is no longer magical in their desperate attempt to depict their idea of realism. I don’t want my kids exposed to their nonsense. They get no money from my family any more, but Daily Wire will!

I signed up for a year of DW+ to show support for them making an Alternative instead of just whinging about it, especially after hearing Bret sing in the trailer. Getting a new Arthurian story out of it ti make up for Snow White/Evil Queen being potentially pushed back seemed like a win. I’d love to see DW (truly, any company) take a chunk out of Disney’s box office take.

And listening to what people want and then going and making that very thing and giving us a proper Snow White in live action! And not slagging it off! Which means that I will see his film! I am not a huge fan of Snow White, but it is a classic. And anyone who supports that , and listens to people and engages like this, gets my support. Kevin Feige wishes he could get an interview with Drinker. The bottom line for me is the movie needs to be good. It doesn't need to be the most astounding masterpiece in cinematic history, but it has to be good. If it is, I'll watch it. If it is not good, then even if I appreciate the effort to make an apolitical version of a popular fairy tale, I won't reward a failed effort with my money. I'm excited for CD to do a candid review of the film where he pulls no punches. Regardless, I wish the filmmakers the best of luck.

They could be switching it up with Wish. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they depict this "empowered female" character granting everyone's wishes as being disastrous. I think a lot of people still don't realize that they did this with Frozen. Elsa abandons her kingdom to go do what she wants and be a "strong independent woman" and it seems like they're presenting that as a positive message at first. But then her sister points out that her entire kingdom is literally about to be wiped out due to her (Elsa's) selfishness, so she comes back, takes up her crown, and reengages with her responsibilities, even though it's not exactly what she wants. I could see them doing this with Wish.
@mimah1015 Жыл бұрын
Uhh I don't know what Frozen movie you saw there buddy but she did not "come back". Infact she never planned to and she literally threw her sister out of her castle after accidentally hurting her. She was dragged back unconscious and only stayed because she was no longer afraid of herself. But even that didn't last because in the sequel she got to be free like she originally wanted, leaving her sister behind to rule the kingdom as she frolicked around with magical creatures forever. I'm happy that she did and I love her character. Don't say what isn't true.
