And when this scenario happens Sweden will also be a member. The combined Nordic air Command itself consists of about 250 fighter aircraft (F-35s, F-16s, JAS-39s and maybe even still F/A-18s). I bet those planes would not stay idle. And I don't want to start talking about the Nordic navies and the nice seamines of Finland that can identify the ships going above it and can pick targets. Russian navy would have a difficult time operating in the Baltic Sea. Heck Finland has artillery pieces that can easily reach Estonia as the distance is only about 90km. Finnish MLRS artillery and the air force could strike Russian targets in Estonia from Finland!
@tmike_tc10 ай бұрын
You are spot on. Add in the heightened awareness that the recent Russian invasion and tactics (and atrocities in the open) has created from Finland (800+ land border with Russia and no people have the Russian’s number like the Finns) all the way down through the former Soviet block. I cannot even imagine how badly the Poles want to clobber Russians who choose to invade a NATO member. Also, once things went ‘hot’ between Russia and NATO directly, the kid gloves treatment that Russia is currently getting through proxy in the Ukraine would be gone. Two words: air superiority. The West has decades of thought, investment, and effort in to air dominance for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading my thoughts from afar. Best wishes from Michigan, U.S.

o...kay... NATO indecisiveness *can* handwave SOME of the previous issues. It can't handwave where the Navy is. So far, it seems like Russia has all the plot armor in the world to get this done. Even if NATO countries aren't hitting targets within Russia and actively trying not to escalate (which 100% contradicts the on paper Article V requirements FYI), the advancing Russian columns would be hammered far greater than what is shown here. We know Russian AA is good against aircraft, but NOT against intercepting missiles. Hence why Naval strikes would be hammering Russian advancements day and night.... and this preview of them hitting "deep within NATO"... good LUCK.

Hey! Great series! I love it so far, quite interesting-- However I have a few gripes (constructive criticism) That you should consider for another episode when Russia continues to push deeper in the Baltics. The US has a QRF that has the ability to deploy a brigade anywhere in the world in just 24 hours, not including the Special Forces that can be deployed in that time as well. And since it took 2 days to get through the town last episode, The 82nd and 101st (18th Airborne Corps) and at least 3000 NATO Rapid Reaction Force should be in the Baltics. And there are quite a handful of EU RRF's just a few hundred miles from the border of Kaliningrad or in the Baltics already. If you want to get into the real nitty gritty for this, the US has a MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit) that is stationed particularly in the Baltic Sea and consists of 2200 Marines and a ton of Marine aircraft, they should be in Riga too. the 24th MEU is the one stationed in the Baltics, the USS Mesa Verde is their LPD. If youre going for realism, consider this! if youre just doing this to have fun and do a little wargame, you do you. have fun! thats what these are all about, but since im a little party pooper, i just had to give my two-cents. Dont take this as me trying to ruin your plans lol! Enjoy your series! Edit: Forgot to add the 24th MEU
@flatcirclehistory Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your post! Actually this is exactly the kind of feedback and input I'm looking for. I'd encourage jumping on the Discord server I set up a while back to have a deeper discussion. discord.gg/WdqCQMcx I am seeing that the 22nd and 24th MEU have deployed at various times in the Baltics (as recently as August), but I'm not seeing that they are stationed there. But my research might be lacking and missing that. Happy to scratch at that further. On the subject of realism... I have a bit of a needle to thread there, keeping the story as realistic as possible while also adhering to the necessary elements of a good, engaging story. What I absolutely want to avoid, if possible, is a "no way that'd happen!" moment that would pull people out of the story. So, the story is strongly based on reality...but it may not be able to include ALL aspects of reality, if that makes sense! Whatever the case, I love your input. Keep 'em coming.

This is addictingly entertaining, and I’m already hooked in your montage about “This is a story about the Third World War,” music and all! [Heaven forbid.] With that in mind, within roughly the last ten years, with relief and appreciation the Baltic states have allowed the United States (and possibly NATO as well, I am not an expert) to stockpile heavy equipment, ammunition, fuel, and supporting supplies in multiple locations so that the U.S. needs to concentrate on getting personnel to the combat zone, but much of the logistical heavy lifting has already been done in preparation. Also, there is a permanent, land-based Aegis defense system (AAMDS) in Redizkowo, Poland that the Russians have been crying about since its mere suggestion. It is just coming online with the U.S. Navy after extensive testing and upgrades, and is scheduled to be handed over to full Polish control and incorporation in to NATO’s European-wide defense network this Summer. Its primary job is to defend against Russian missile attacks. The Poles are keen to point out that the facility is fully operational and equipped, and they are no longer taking any guff from Russia. There is another land-based AEGIS facility like it in Romania to watch Iran, etc. Both are coordinated with a Sauron-like radar facility atop a Turkish mountain. With huge stocks of missiles for defending the skies across Europe and SW Asia, NATO is already made large investments in preventing ballistic missile attacks, and the Patriot Systems are proving very effective in the Ukraine. I would never dream of commenting in this fashion, yet you were so encouraging to this OP. Outstanding work that obviously takes an incredible amount of time, effort, and talent. Thank You very much for sharing it with the YTube world (and the algorithm for leading me here). Best wishes from N Michigan.

While this series is fairly entertaining, recent events would suggest that the initiating country might not fare as well as depicted. By 2032(?) the future Russian Army will be needing to conscript six-year olds to fill its ranks. Remember, Russia had to invade Ukraine because of its deepening demographic collapse. That doesn't improve over the next eight years. Still, entertaining to consider the what-ifs.
