Hi, I had a few of those years ago in Poland. It was great fun to watch, reminded me of old times. Bit of advice: jack the car a couple of inches, then push something under the engine to support it then lower the car, disconnect the entire drive train from all linkages, etc. and push the car forward leaving the engine behind. It’s much easier this way. To pull out around 45min, to re-fit 75minutes. When filling oil, make sure the dipstick is pulled out to allow air venting this way.

Nah, actually its pretty easy to work on if you're in the right side of the world were spare parts are available. These cars were pretty much rust buckets done with very little expense on the construction process but able to take a lot of abuse from low-income people who could not afford to fix them, in other words, if you get one, you'll want fix it top to bottom with aftermarket parts - some of which are uprated - and will it will last forever.

As a Polish person hailing from the early 90's, I must say I witnessed several such occasions and every single time it was absolutely exhilarating. My favourite one was somewhere in the 2010's. Imagine crossroad in the downtown, someone goofed off and two vehicles end up in the same spot blocking everyone else in the middle of a junction. One was huge Renault TIR truck and second was Fiat 126p. Angry truck driver jumps off screaming that he can't and won't back so the little one better back off right this instant and then from this other little car gets of ABSOLUTE UNIT OF A MAN, literally 6 ft 8, 300 pound bearded, broad armed human being dwarfing anyone in the neighbourhood telling truck driver that he don't give a single crap about his errors in life and his truck altogether. I bear this memory with tear of joy in my eye to this very day.

My dad used to own one in the 80's in former Yugoslavia, I think his was made in 74 or 75. He paid $600 bucks for it in the 1980 and sold it for $1300 in 1986. That car took us to multiple trips to Italy, France, Germany and one time to Sweden to visit an uncle. Fun fact that car can carry over its own weight in construction material with 2 adults in it. The person that bought it gifted it to his son about 10 years ago. It is still on the road.

Thanks for giving our ol' Maluch a new life. Maybe they were really bad straight from the factory, but the nostalgia is there and the memory lives on. Niki's a beaut! Congrats on the repair job.

Here she is Poland's Volkswagen, not a car we needed, but a car we deserved. We used to have one in Bydgoszcz, we had it up to 1989 when my parents upgraded to a Fiat 125p 1.5 ME. Lovely memories and also: if you look up ANY 1970-1990s photos of ANY Polish city, you'll notice that around 75% of all cars are 126P's.

I had an nsu prinz from 1959 that sat forlorn in my uncles backyard from 1963 to 1987, one day, a neighbor mechanic came over, and we had it started and running in less than an hour!

When I was a kid there was an old Polish dude across the road who had a red Niki just like this, an R32 Skyline and a Subaru SVX. It was always hilarious to see an old dude motoring around 90s suburban Sydney in his confusing car collection!

These cars are amazing! in Poland there were actual yearly parades with only these little fiats, all tuned and pimped up, as far as that's possible. The stories I've heard about them are wild as well.
