When i was 21 I had my first opportunity to hunt Black Bear. I was lucky and got one my first evening. The shot was not that far aprox 65 yards. What astounded me most, was NOT how far the bear went after being hit, was the time he actually stayed on his feet.. He was hit while walking (I was shooting a 30.06, 220 grn bullets) and upon being struck he immediately started to growl and jump up and down biting at his shoulder. He ran aprox 65 yards and upon examination I found I Double Lung shot him, as well as splitting his heart almost completely in half. It wasn't how far he ran that surprised me, it was hoe long he actually took to go down.

The fact that they struck out this time makes the quest for the grizz all the more meaningful. It just deepens the plot. The grizz is the pinnacle of animals you can hunt, you can't just be a level 1 hunter and hunt a grizz, you have to go through all the subsequent levels first, and they get tougher and tougher as you go on. I'm not even a hunter yet, but I'll make sure to go through the process by starting with small things then working up. If I just jumped in the deep end right away I'd miss out on the most important part of hunting, the process. Especially the beginning process of a new hobby is the part you'll reminisce about the most when you are an older experienced hunter.

Hopefully it stays that way - being able to hunt black bears that is...the anti-hunting organizations are now targeting the hunting of black bears, wolves and cougars in BC, with the expectation that supposed "trophy" animals will be next. BCWF and the Wild Sheep Society have a petition they are circulating at the moment to try and let our voices be heard.
@Notyourphone.3 жыл бұрын
@@dougmcclure8632 An "ethical hunter" is in a completely separate category from a "trophy hunter". I have hunted my entire life and went my entire childhood not knowing what beef tasted like. I do not agree with trophy hunting as it is really just a opportunity for some rich person to fly/drive wherever they please and shoot whatever they consider to be a trophy. My father had a rule growing up and it was simple "you shoot it you eat it". Brown/Grizzly bear hunting should have a requirement to harvest the meat if you take the animal. That is my big issue with this kind of hunting. The fact that Uneducated people have taken it upon themselves to take away other people's freedom's simply because they do not agree with them while using these individuals as "examples of hunting" is ludicrous and repulsive.

This show has motivated me to get into the world of hunting and im really excited of things to come. As a fisherman i can relate to the feeling of hunting down your own food, but actually stalking game for miles to get it makes it so much more satisfying... Hunting class starts in 10 days i cant wait!

Shooting the rocks and Steve saying "that man trying to kill Theresa rocks" reminds me of Steve Martin in the jerk when the guy was trying to kill him and keeps hitting the oil cans, " someone's trying to kill these cans" " they must really hate these cans"

Incredible work all around by these guys and the video crew. That has to be an amazing experience to be out there hunting something that can hunt you back. Not gonna lie, but l don’t think that l would have the courage or energy to do what Steve and Ryan did on this hunt. What a beautiful place that is to see. Even though they didn’t get a grizzly, the memories they have of this hunt will last a lifetime. 👍
