Yeah, German law do be like that. What Kuma tried to explain at 4:34 is that you need a hunting license or sportshooting passport to get a gun. Self defense or fun is not a reason to get a gun in germany. You need a license first. To get the hunting license, you need a 9 month couse twice a week or 3 week intensive training (all 21 days, 8 to 10 hours). This will cost 1000 to 3000 euro, plus ammo and range fees upwards of another 1000 euro. They you do a 1 or 2 day exam with 2000+ question pool multiple choice, shooting clays and rifle, plus oral exam (depends on the state). Another few hundred euros for insurance, hunting license and gun owner license and you can invest 1000 euro in a high security safe. THEN you may buy as many rifles as you want, so long as you register them in your ownership card within 2 weeks (for 30 euros of course, shit ain't free). Sport shooters need a legal and safety training course (Sachkunde) and 18 training sessions with loaner weapons within one year, then they can have a registration card and buy a gun safe. So a year and also a few thousand euros later they can buy - almost nothing. They need purchase pre-approval for about 100 euro and then buy and register within 14 days for the usual 30 euro. Same if a hunter wants a pistol, because pistols aren't legal for hunting, only to finish already wounded animals. And you cannot carry a gun. Never ever. Only in a locked gun case to the range, unloaded. Weapons carry licenses are exclusive to the police and the very top of anti gun politicians. More equal people.
@Niklas9mm2 жыл бұрын
The weapon carry license does not apply to the police in Germany! When on duty, their right to carry a gun is backed by law and when off duty, they have a "compensatory document"
@texasranger242 жыл бұрын
@@Niklas9mm true, but just a technicality. For all practical intends and purposes, they carry gun. You do not. End of story. Or jailtime.

Regarding the pricing (because I am at the moment in tranining for the hunting license): That's a bit high. My course is 2500€. Everything included (ammo, range etc) except for the examfee (200€). And that is on the higher end, two other schools I looked into where 1800 and 2100. My safe came last week, it's a small one but I'm not made out of gold so I propably will never own more than 5 rifles (I think). Safe was 810€ shipped right to my livingroom. Insurance is included in the course, once you have the license you need one for yourself, my insurancecompany is 32€ a year. Add about 200 for a 3 year license from the state. The pool for the exam is in fact 2000+ questions BUT the exam is "only" 100 questions and you get 2,5 hours for the test. It is multiple choice but you have to have atleast 70% right to pass. It's alot one has to learn. But managable.

@WaterZer02 жыл бұрын
"far left liberal countries" "Canada" I see the American lunacy extends across the border. Your country literally kills natives for fun which is antithetical to one of "the left"'s biggest principles. You do have better public services than the US, but that's like saying you can outrun an obese person. Canada is center right, but you'll disregard everything I say and call me a loony instead of taking time to think about something.
@dropgun25742 жыл бұрын
@@WaterZer0 I suspect you are not Canadian, so your comments about Canada have zero value unless you live here, are indigenous as your comment is referencing Canadian indigenous peoples or you’re participating in our community. (Trolling on the internet doesn’t count.) As I am Canadian and indigenous, I’ll lend a helping hand, Even though what you said has nothing to do with my comment, is pedantic and how you reference our indigenous culture as “native” clearly illustrates your lack of education on Canadian cultures and indicates an attempt to troll for attention; regardless I’ll bite, but only once. Subsequently, I will not be reading your response no matter how outlandish, incorrect or over dramatized it is. As this has already been a waste of my time. Without jumping deep into the history of mistreatment of indigenous culture in Canada, as it would be a futile attempt at trying to determine what was the most egregious act against the indigenous peoples, I’ll refer to the most present and abundant example of LIBERAL mistreatment. The current prime minister and liberal party of Canada ran on the platform of creating safe drinking water for all indigenous peoples on tribal land across Canada. This is because most indigenous peoples still don’t have clean drinking water. I feel the need to dive into the history of government mistreatment is unnecessary based on your quick comments referencing the country “literally” killing indigenous peoples. (Which let’s be clear, is an egregiously over dramatization of whats occurring in Canada.) Canada is not centre to the right, as illustrated by its current prime minister and party. Left leaning liberals have done just as much damage and mistreated Canadian indigenous as the moderate “conservatives” (see residential schools, how long they were in place and what politicians were in power during their time) and your attempts to try to identify liberal politics as centre leaning right, simply illustrates to me an effort to try and normalize the very strongly left leaning politics and policies in Canada as “right” to change the perspective of political “norm’s.” Furthermore, you answering your own comment with what you perceive my response would be illustrates just how sociopathic you are and how futile the entirety of this conversation is. Regardless, I hope you learned something useful here. At the very least, that no one cares about your opinion on the internet, as comments like yours just illustrate how it’s a safe haven for societal outcasts who would have perished in times past for being weak, useless or just plainly put unlikeable. Take care.

@texasranger242 жыл бұрын
Vent holes are ok for guns with 16.6" (soon to be 16" like in the US) barrels and ammo cases longer than 40mm. Yes, that law exists to bully 7.62x39 and .22lr ammo. Because the German governments hates the idea of people using cheap ammo. But recently there are approved AKs as well where people put on mlok rail covers and glued them in place. Also glue your evil folding stock and you are fine. No joke.
@CaptainComatose2 жыл бұрын
For sports shooting, if a semi-automatic firearm has a barrell length under 16", is a bullpup or uses a cartridge with a case length under 40mm, it is not allowed to look like a fully automatic weapon of war. For hunters this does not apply. Characteristics to qualify to look like a weapon of war might be pistol grips, telescopic stocks, "venting holes", forward grips, bipods. It's the overall look of the rifle. One characteristic alone might not disqualify it for sports shooting. A HK SP5 is not allowed for sports shooters, for example. Yet, the Norlite, also present here on TFB is allowed for sports shooting. This law is pretty stupid.

Yeah, because the terrorists will go to the trouble of asking permission. These laws only hinder good people, not the bad ones.

Honestly I don’t think the fact that this stuff requires a bunch of paperwork is as obnoxious to Germans as it is to us. They seem to be pretty adept at that stuff.

I am german, and Brittas boyfriend. Before 1972 westgerman gunlaw was basicly a denazified version of Reichswaffengesetz from 1938. It was in no ways AS liberal as US law, but much more liberal than now. The most liberal time of gun/ weapons law was in time between 1871- 1918, monarchy. So Wilhelm ll was not so afraid about weapons than ,democratic' politicans.

@@thedumbguncollector5546 : In second german empire german gun and weapons law had similarities to US laws, there had been few imperial laws, most details had been regulated by the german states. Rifles, shotguns and combination guns ( for example Drillinge) could be easy bought, for the reason that german army had good repouation, owning and training with long arms had been seen good for war effort. Pistols could not so easy bought, but for a well reputated man this was no problem. What was not allowed, had been weapons like swordcanes, disguised as peacefull item. In 1890 a Ccw licence was introduced, because most of german policemen had only a short saber.

Poor people. I'm not sorry for them, I am describing them. Who, right in their head, and not poor in spirit, allows their goverment to do this. This wasnt love of beraucracy that we just saw, nor was it german eficiency, or orderliness. This was poverty.

It was the United States and the allies who completely banned all civilian firearms in Germany up until the 1960ies and put a big dent in long tradition of shooting clubs and civilian firearm ownership. It's your system that we're technically still under (or what's the point of you military bases in Germany?) so FU
