Pale skin evolved as a way to stop melanin production, so the body had extra resources to spend elsewhere because it didn't need to protect against the much smaller amounts of sunlight in Europe, and instead needed to be extra permeable to sunlight, so it could get the vitamin D the body needs. Pale skin does not adjust well to the much sunnier areas of the world and so pale skinned people must use artificial methods to protect their skin. Thankfully it's pretty easy to deal with, as are the health issues dark skinned people face when not exposed to optimal levels of sunlight, such as vitamin D deficiency.

4:13 I highly doubt any of you four guys will read this but I can answer that question. The reason we northerners have pale skin is that, as it turns out, dark melanin-full skin is really bad at making vitamin D so when humans traveled up north, where the sunlight is scarce, people with darker skin died out while people with lighter skin survived. Over generations, the skin became lighter and lighter as it became better and better at collecting UV rays to make vitamin D. That is why black people would have very bad time living in forests, while white people would have a very bad time living in the deserts. Dark skin protects from UV rays better, white skin helps create vitamin D much better. When people experience more sunlight, their skin adapts to get darker. When there's little sunlight, their skin adapts to get lighter to create vitamin D better.

I don't know about the Rock being bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger. But I did read somewhere that Andre the Giant picked Arnold up with ease. I found something on google about it. "Famous for always paying for his dinner parties (guests included), André caught Arnold Schwarzenegger trying to pay for his own dinner while shooting Conan The Destroyer. André picked Arnold up, deposited him back in his dining chair, and paid for the group's meal" But my all time favourite story about Andre the Giant is he once drank 119 beers in a single sitting.

On the bodybuilding topic, it isn't about attracting with your body. By that point your hobby/sport matters more to you than what other people outside of the community think. Sure you start to look out of the norm but that's the point to most bodybuilders that compete. Symmetry, size and vascularity become your goals. That being said, bodybuilding is pretty dangerous whether it be through the stress of the diet, the workout or the drugs. Also if you don't have the genetics for it you're gonna feel bad. Body dysmorphia is also gonna feel bad. Honestly even though I'm a fan of bodybuilding, the downsides of it sound horrible.

Someone needs to teach these guys evolutionary biology. We started of with darker skin and it became lighter the farther we migrated to northern regions

Recent archeological discoveries from Germany conflict with the current evolutionary timeline. Older remains found than in Africa, may imply man did not originate in Africa. Look into it.

Vlad Kistler are you referring to the two teeth and a femur they found. It would be interesting if they did come from a direct descendent of the Homosapiens but it says they’re unsure of what close primate species it came from.

It hurts to hear how little these guys know about diet and health. The Low Carb Down Under Channel has a lot of good presentations on newer research on health. It makes me concerned that the guys feel sick after drinking alcohol because it may indicate liver or other organ damage. Hopefully them not drinking as much will help. I've lost 95 pounds since last December with a ketogenic diet that shifted toward carnivore and at 30 years old I feel better than at 20.

For the evolutionary advantage in white skin in certain areas is there is less heat and sun in areas farther then the equator. When humans migrated from Africa they gained the gene for white skin because it saves energy.

In answer to your question, andrew, white people have lighter skin, because they would need more UVB radiation to cross their skin in colder environments with less sunlight, because UVB radiation and cholesterol are used for Vitamin D production.

We all had a common ancestor and they had dark skin and the ones that stayed in that middle region kept the dark skin while the ones that moved up north no longer needed the dark skin to protect them from the sun
