Random thought, but is there the possibility that Setuna did not have any demonic abilities as a child? In episode 2 Towa is able to leap to the top of the tree to get the fruit. Setuna waiting eagerly at the bottom suggests she can’t do that. There is also the scene where they run from the forest fire, but Towa drags her sister with her. Once their hands slip, it seems to suggest that Setuna cannot run at demon speeds like her sister.

This is an interesting theory! But if you watch the clip where Setsuna pushes Towa away from the burning tree. Towa goes flying but she generally looks shocked that it happened which could be a sign supporting this theory

@@TheGoddessRises Remember the original series when InuYasha (after seemingly killed/knocked out by an enemy) would bounce back ("Impossible! No one can withstand my X, especially not a half-demon!) and one-shoot while proclaiming that he has someone to protect and therefore can't/won't give up/gets strength from that? It's not a far-fetched theory that Setsuna would get a power boost like her uncle when she is desperately trying to save her sister.

I think Setsuna was more on the sensitive side and Towa was more take charge. Miroku sounded surprised that setsuna was a demon slaver.

Lol it’s probably the 1 way to get Sess/Rin shippers and those who see their relationship as father/daughter to agree. Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha may get into situations where they have trouble against their opponents, but they usually win in the end either by killing their enemy or by their enemies retreating. Their group has yet to have a real legitimate defeat.

As a whole I'm disappointed in this series but as you said it isn't the worse. It's ok, I just feel the fact that they are going for an younger audience hurts the series as there is almost no blood in any of the fights so they don't have the same feel as Inuyasha fights where he was almost always half dead by the end. Also the pacing is just to fast for me.

Now that you mentioned it yeah theres little to no blood. That would explain on why they didnt oversexualize the characters as well (which I'm really glad tbh). In terms of story development i still have hopes since we didn't get to know Naraku until ep 16 back in InuYasha. But on the other hand InuYasha was am much longer Anime than Yashahim is supposed to be. Wich you can tell from watching the episodes (I'm rewatching it right now during lockdown) since almost every arc was streched over multpile episodes lol

@@Arnamoo I agree, though to be honest the "oversexualize" they did to Kagome in the beginning of Inuyasha is what got young teenage me into Inuyasha in the 1st place. LOL. Literally while switching through channels I quickly found Kagome in the bathtub. LOL However, it was the story and awesome characters that kept me a fan all these years. To me, all the things that made Inuyasha special are missing in this sequel. I'm happy to see some are enjoying it though.

I always loved ancient history and seeing ancient japan for the first time was like magic for me ^^ If you watch anime nowadays literally every girl has at least like a cup c size which just sets the wrong stigma for young people minds imo but thats another topic lol

Kyuki, despite short lived, did have an interesting design. Wish she lasted longer. The cat episode might be the first or second ass pull by Towa regarding her abilities. Definitely wasted potential with Tiger Mama. Sibling shouldn't fight, huh, Towa? I wonder what she'll think about her uncle and father fighting back in the past. Glad it was Setsuna, not Ms. Mary Sue who took the win this time. How can anyone say the girls weren't struggling lately? Konton and Monk Eater were each a challenge to them. One thing I'll say about the Monk Eater episode is that the demon form of Princess Grumpy was underwhelming.

I think there was a level of expectation from the viewers, knowing how good Inuyasha was and so a comparison between these two is inevitable. I didn't know those episodes were "re-imaginings" of Inuyasha manga chapters. That makes a lot of sense now. I am certainly enjoying this show. There are annoying things about it but none of it is making me want to stop watching. I still enjoy the characters, I still enjoy revisiting this "world", and it's light fun.

Yeah, I thought I was the only one who didn’t get the next episode. I was kinda panicking, and I checked the air date and everything. But it’s good to know I wasn’t the only one. Edit: Great Video! It was a bit on the long side, and I didn’t think I would sit through the whole thing, but I did! That just proves how good the video was! Also, the way Snake Mommy tries to absorb Kinka and Ginka really reminds me of how Google Chrome absorbed RAM from other browsers in the webcomic Internet Explorer. Idk, just an unrelated thought

Great recap! Seeing this now made me realize how disapointing Yotsume was considering that he was like "there" when the old cast was around and knew so much when he interogated Towa :/ and btw im REALLY glad that they didnt oversexualize the characters in Yashahime! All in all I'm looking forward to the new episodes as it seems that its picking up some speed. Hope to see lots more :)

This also just popped into my head, Setsuna wasn't born with the fluffy tail thing (idk what it's called)that Sesshomaru has so I was thinking, the first time Sesshomaru was shown in YashaHime you can tell that his tail thing is shorter than it was at the end of the final act and in the first ep of YashaHime. I also remember hearing that his tail grow to represent the power he has, so I don't think he "lost" power over time maybe he gave it to Setsuna if that's possible. I don't know though.

My favorite episodes were the first and episode 13 because we see the og cast but also get a pretty decent story. The cat episode was weak and so was episode three. Great recap of the series so far. It isn't the next Borito but its not bad either, I give it a solid 8 out of 10 for a sequel. I really expect it to pickup starting with the next ep. With only 10 left in the first season things should start making sense, but slowly, a bit at a time because these people love to make us wait.

Only episode I wasn't disappointed in was episode 9. It was the only one that didn't feel like it was super rushed, at least to me. It was actually very funny as well. I think most people complain about the fights in this series, because they never feel to close. At least I never think for one second that the girls are in any real danger. Mostly because there is so little blood in the series.

I really really hate how they Retcon the new moon thing. In episode 13 of Inuyasha, myoga said that every half demon has a different day that they lose their powers and they keep it as a closely guarded secret. If it was common knowledge that every half demon loses their powers on the same day, the night of the new moon, then there would be no have demons left because all of their enemies would know exactly when to strike

You know, after hearing a full breakdown of every episode leading up to the current one ( I took a long break from the show but I've been keeping up with the reviews) I realize that the show wasn't as bad/lazy as I originally thought. Finally watched 14 and freaking loved it. I do think that the issue was how misleading they were being and I do think that maybe there just wasn't as much of a story to tell and so they needed to stretch it. I think since it was a new show they did the bait strategy a lot because they just wanted to make sure that the core fan base kept returning and didn't anticipate that the click bait thing would cause frustration. It does seem like the episodes that are actually based fully on Yashahime material and not manga chapter re-imaginings are actually good and have a reasonable sense of direction, I think the way that they are having to go about the show to delay it ending too soon is what is making the show seem disjointed. You did an excellent job summarizing this.

My Favourite Episode until now is part 4 ~ about The Gate to the Past. The most uninteresting for me is the episode about siblings Ginka & Kinka. Kyuki is interesting but i think the strongest between four peril is Konton.

That blue energy sword Towa uses is so a Spirit Sword in disguise. And in case you kids don't know because your too young to understand, that was a Yu Yu Hakusho reference due that Kuwabara uses a energy sword (Spirit Sword) And yes, YYH came before Inuyasha, so this has to be an inspiration

Although I'm enjoying Yashahime, it's very clear that they've been writing the story by the seat of their pants. There's a lot of lore contradictions an stuff that they seem to have already had to retcon from booboo's. Case and point episode 12, the case of the Black haired Towa. Myoga explains that half demons have "new moon" periods. We know in InuYasha that half demons lose their abilities once a month on the moon phase that happened while they were born. Basically for InuYasha his birth coincided with a New Moon. So it wasn't that all half demons lose their power on the night of a new moon.... but specifically InuYasha. Mind you in season 3 of Yashahime they retconned this detail and basically explain that Towa and Setsuna were both born on the night of a new moon as well... so problem solved from a lore perspective. Although it doesn't change Myoga not explaining the phenomenon properly. I'm still not sold on the reason why Setsuna didn't transform as well (this is later explained to be due to the fact that she was missing her memories due to the dream butterfly... but it isn't like having her memories missing meant she wasn't a half demon... so again no idea why only after she regains her ability to sleep and remember her past that she loses her demon power). The show has a bunch of other lore problems as well. Like I understand why Sesshomoru sealed InuYasha and Kagome, but it was the dumbest plan. It would've been simpler for Sesshomoru to explain why they can't kill Kirinmaru and Zero immediately. In fact theoretically They could've helped to rescue her, instead because of this dumb plan, Kagome and InuYasha are sealed in the Black Pearl and don't get to watch their daughter grow up for the next 14 years (also feels like it's implied that they don't age while in the black pearl... maybe time flows differently there, I dunno). Also you would've thought Moroha would've been taken in by say Miroku and Sango... I got a lot of beef with how they set up the characters that's all. I will say though that the story beats and explanations of who and what, and why certain things happened, seem to be getting improved and retconned to make more sense with each new season. It juts feels like they didn't really plan out the whole story in advance.

I really dont know why the dream butterfly protects Setsuna from the effects of a the new moon. Unless the dream butterfly absorbs her demonic powers so much that the new moon hardly has any effect on her demonic powers since Setsuna is not at full strength.

Okay so I watched episode 1 and haven't really gotten into it yet but I do have to ask because I've seen a lot of reviews. Do Inuyasha and kagome ever show up in the actual plot? I know about the fight with root head but from everything I've seen first of all their daughter says she's never met her parents, and I keep hearing that for some mysterious reason Inuyasha and kagome are just missing.

There are so many plot holes with these girls and their relationships with eachother. I love that they did a next generation... but why they didn't just make sango's 3 kids and kagome's kid then add seshis kids in... I dunno like they were bff's their kids would be close. Sesshomeru's kids being estranged makes sense... but I dunno it's weird... and the Rouge is not it for me... also ... weird that inutasha, kagome and friends kill the strongest most threatening demon in the last generation that has technically been around a generation before they fought him.... but there is so much focus on seshomerus kids... like ok 🤷‍♂️ they are the main characters because we say so... lord seshi so strong who tf is inuyasha and their kid... no... literally as soon as they f'd demons up to take jewel shards every demon knew who inuyasha was... you're telling me he kills naraku and no one knows who his kid is... bologna

i think the pace of Yashahime is too slow. If it was a long anime like InuYasha the pace would be fine but with only 24 episodes is is too slow. We are halfway through and on story-bases not much has happened jet.

I don't know, it's sad what happened between Inuyasha and Kikyo. She was his 1st love and she was murdered. So I feel like his love for Kagome is somewhat stronger then his love for Kikyo because he fell in with her even though kyiko was still kind of around. Like he could help his feelings for Kagome, even though he kind of should have.

...This series wreaks of Social Justice Warrior politics. 3 female characters and they are all talented and praised. Moroha being praised by the elders when doing exercises; Setsuna mastering the violin within a week and is considered a protégé. All 3 have demon weapons right off the bat. They were all raised without parents, yet they have great mental faculties and maturities. Everything seemed to work out their way one way or another. Just watch the early 2000s of Inuyasha. Kagome is the only "feminist" vibe, but the rest of the story and lore is well written. Conflicts, struggles, feats of strength, moral dilemmas. Proper storytelling is kind of dead in this generation. It all feeds on nostalgia and tried to reanimate old stories - but alas destroying it. (StarWars, Card Captors, Mass Effect, Diablo, Starcraft, etc etc)
