Honestly this is the only thing I hate about the plot. The OG characters are there but at the same time.. they're not? I don't mind that they're not the focus anymore (since this is about the "new generation"), but it's like there's a disconnect that doesn't make sense. Some can classify that as mystery, but honestly it's too glaring and weird to be just ignored, especially when it doesn't seem like Kaede and Kohaku knew Moroha beforehand.

I’m just watching bc of Moroha ✌🏻 I hate the whole “missing parents” plot. Inuyasha has suffered way too much during his whole life and specially childhood, Moroha had to go through the same... Kagome wasn’t able to raise her kid and as a woman, this HURTS. She gave up her life with her family to start her own with the man she loves and she still wasn’t able to experience motherhood as she should’ve. This is a mess. Moroha saved this whole series for me. I think I’ll be only able to truly enjoy when it’s over. As a Inuyasha fan for almost 20 years, I find this sequel offensive. I’m sure no one expected such tragic plot.

If I was able to rewrite Yashahime, I would have done it this way: I would have resolved what happened to the parents and OG characters right away. I would have written it so that everyone thinks that Sesshomaru killed the OG cast. In that confusion, Treekyo would tell the Yashahimes the story of why Sesshomaru did it and what the Yashahimes must do to avenge their parents' deaths: defeat both Sesshomaru and Kirinmaru. Moroha, after realizing that her parents were killed by the twins' father, would struggle to work with them. Because of the fall out of their parents, the Yashahimes would go their separate ways until Moroha finds herself in a bind and both she and Towa must work together to defeat a common enemy. Moroha decides to help the twins find the dream butterfly because Setsuna's memories may reveal what actually happened with the OG cast/parents. The girls get tricked by Jyubei to go after the perils with his "knowledge" about the dream butterfly. There is a mysterious figure always following the Yashahimes. And, Riku collects the rainbow pearls that appear from the fights with the perils. Ultimately, the Yashahime finds out that Jyubei and Riku are working with Kirinmaru and they escape them to actually find the dream butterfly. Moroha and the twins find the dream butterfly eventually and Setsuna regains her memories, but the mystery of what happened after the great fire 10 years ago is not revealed. Instead, she gets a memory of Sesshomaru caring for her after Towa disappeared to the future. The episode end would tease with a scene of the mysterious figure finally emerging. The next episode would reveal that the mysterious figure is adult Shippo (yup, Shippo.) The Yashahimes realizes that Shippo has been helping them in their fights using his illusion fox magic and fox fire magic. Shippo reveals and confirms that the OG characters were slain by Sesshomaru and Kirinmaru. Setsuna is reminded of her father's memory and refuses to believe this. Towa sides with Setsuna. Suprisingly, Moroha also sides with her cousins stating that she believes that if Setsuna doesn't think that Sesshomaru did it, they will find him and make him tell the truth. Shippo decides to join the Yashahimes and notes the similarities of each daughter to their parents as he knew them. The Yashahimes and Shippo head east towards Kirinmaru's hidden fortress. They find it using Shippo's new ability of canceling out illusion magic. The ending would definitely be a showdown with the demon slayers, and the other people the Yashahimes helped while looking for the rainbow pearls. Kirinmaru now has 4 of the rainbow pearls while the Yashahimes have 3. Kirinmaru would then reveal that he had sealed away Sesshomaru after using him. He then extracts the pearl from each girl. However, by having all of the rainbow pearls in one place, the seal holding Sesshomaru had weakened allowing him to escape the seal binding him to the sacred tree. Sesshomaru, now freed, heads over to Kirinmaru's fortress. He arrives just as Kirinmaru extracts the rainbow pearls from the Yashahimes, and, Kirinmaru, upon seeing Sesshomaru arrive, retreats to his fortress. Moroha attacks her uncle but Setsuna stops her. Towa commands Sesshomaru to tell them if he killed Moroha's parents and the others. Sesshomaru reveals that their parents have been sealed in the rainbow pearls. He was only able to save Rin, but Kirinmaru's curse also eventually weakened and sealed him to the sacred tree. Sesshomaru knows that Kirinmaru would be stronger with the pearls so he tells the group that he will face Kirinmaru alone. The Yashahimes and others don't listen and follow Sesshomaru into the fortress. Sesshomaru fights Kirinmaru in a showdown only to be mortally wounded (probably by saving his daughters), though he has also severely wounded Kirinmaru. The Yashahimes and others defeat Kirinmaru and the rainbow pearls glow, but the seals are still in tact and cannot be broken. Sesshomaru reveals that they would stay sealed until he also died as part of the curse. The twins say their goodbye to their father and when Sesshomaru dies, the pearls break open and reveal the OG cast as they were 10 years ago. Moroha and Shippo run to Inuyasha and Kagome. Hisui and Kohaku to Miroku, Sango, and the twins which are now younger (in looks) than Hisui. There is a joyful reunion while Towa and Setsuna mourn their father. Inuyasha bows to his brother and thanks him for his sacrifice. The twins then feel a hand on each of their shoulder and it reveals that their mother and Kaede had arrived. Rin embraces her daughters and tells them that Sesshomaru knew the cost and had accepted his fate many years ago. Rin had hoped she had one more moment with him, but is happy that she is able to hold her daughters for the first time since their birth. The last two episodes would be reserved for the denouement/resolution: the end of the Warring States Era where all evil demons have been vanquished and all demonic energy disperses from the world. Towa rings in a new age with Tokugawa Ieyasu (or whoever is supposed to end the Sengoku era.) She returns with the others to the future to visit the Higurashi's with Treekyo's help (Treekyo uses the remnants of her energy to open the rainbow corridor.) There, Kagome reunites with her family and Sota's family. When everyone tries to go back to the past, they find that the rainbow corridor has closed. It then shows the characters living in modern times. The end.

@@tokkiiiiiiiiiiiiii I think that as long as there is a main/clear narrative that the audience can follow, the writers can start playing with the plot. Unfortunately, Yashahime doesn't have a strong narrative that the audience can follow. So, all of this intrigue and mystery is wasted. In the end of my "theoretical plot", if people really wanted to have Sesshomaru come back (not be killed off), you could even reincarnate him as a human in the modern era. No loose ends and you would draw parallels from the original Inuyasha series. At the end of Inuyasha (series), Sesshomaru learns how to love humans. So, it would continue his redemption story in Yashahime if at the end he's reincarnated into a human.

Especially considering how some minor villains in the original lasted longer than some the major ones in this new series. The first spider demon who was disguised as a monk, the toad demon who trapped young women only to absorb them to heal himself whenever he got injured, and so much more lasted for longer than one episode. Here, other Mistress Three Eyes Centipede, they really don't last more than one episode.

My problem is how everthing is settled. The main Trio has literally NO knowledge about their past or their relatives. Sure. Setsuna lost her memories, Towa was raised in modern Tokyo. But there are STILL characters left who knew the old cast and at least most of the story connected to them. Sota, Kaede, Kohaku, Miyoga, Mirokus and Sangos son. I can't believe that, first: They have no clue what happened to Kagome and Co. Second: They seem like they're not INTERESTED in what happened to them. And third: They may have at least basic information and nevertheless NOBODYS talking about it and even worse the new trio don't ask them or even care! This whole lack of knowledge with a big solution in the end- plot only works because NOBODY asks ANYTHING or talks about anything. I find that super confusing and super unbelievable. Moroha seems like to have lived for a very long time next to Kaede and Co. but nobody has even the slightest interest in telling her waht heck is going on and she also don't care? Also with Towa.....living her whole life with Sota and he doesn't tell her anything about Kagome and Inuyasha. It's ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly and also when they meet Moroha it was as though they where meeting her for the first time. Where was she for fourteen years? She seems to acknowledge her parents but seems over it. She doesn't act at all as a person should, they are all robots. Why doesn't she feel anger or recentment for being abandoned? Why doesn't she show sadness or anything relating to a human emotion over her mother? She meet her grandparents and great grandpa but it doesn't seem to have left a impact at all. She returns with the others to the future to visit the Higurashi's with Treekyo's help (Treekyo uses the remnants of her energy to open the rainbow corridor.) There, Kagome reunites with her family and Sota's family. When everyone tries to go back to the past, they find that the rainbow corridor has closed. It then shows the characters living in modern times. For those who don't like the idea of killing off Sesshomaru: he could always be brought back as his reincarnation in the modern era where he meets his wife and kids again. The end.

i just need the og characters alive and my problem is that we dont even know the plot yet😭 towa wants to find the butterfly, moroha wants to just collect her bounty but she'll still follow the twins, and setsuna just doesnt give a shit about anything💀 in inuyasha the plot was known by like ep. 2: inuyasha and kagome need to collect the jewel shards. plus they're moving to fast. from too many villans showing up and towa learning her powers too fast. and everyone will be like "ohh moroha's just like inuyasha" or "ohh setsuna's just like sesshomaru" but they never just ask "where tf your parents at???" so yea anyways☄️ but inuyasha/yashahime will always be my fav✨ oh and towa needs to learn the names of her moves so she doesnt just scream💀

I can totally agree with this. Especially the "learning skills" part is bothering me - there is no explanation why or how Towa is learning new skills, they are just suddenly there. Before Inuyasha got stronger (or before Sesshomaru aquired his new powerful sword), there was always a good and logical flow how new skills got developed. With Towa it's just... "hm, okay, from now on suddenly I can do this powerful attack, don't ask why, just because"... Even though I am a big fan of the Inuyasha series, I still think Yashahime is poorly written compared to it. I wil still watch it, because I really want to know what happened to the original characters, but on the other hand, I am a bit afraid of disappointment too.

One of my main issues with the series is the lack of emotions!!! I started watching Inuyasha one month ago and finished it some days ago. So I am really new to this fanbase. What I loved about Inuyasha was that the characters felt so real! I could even empathize with Sesshomaru. The Love triangle between Inuyasha-Kikyo-Kagome and the eventual suffering of Kagome. Inuyasha's struggle of beeing a half demon. Sango and Kohaku's suffering. Miroku and his curse. Shippo and his father. Sesshomaru with his father issues. Rin's abuse. And now we have our three half princesses (Moroha actually being quarter) and they totally lack depth in my opinion. They just exist. fight. Win. And so on.. They do not make me feel any deep emotions. Just Moroha makes me laugh :) I struggle building a connection to these characters.

If I was writing Yashahime, I would have resolved what happened to the parents and OG characters right away. Towa rings in a new age with Tokugawa Ieyasu (or whoever is supposed to end the Sengoku era.) @phoebea
@phoebea 3 жыл бұрын
@@lolcandyyy The main source of confusion is the lack of a common motivation for the 3 MCs: one wants to find bounties, another is a demon slayer, and the third wants to find a dream butterfly even though no one asked her to. By not having a common goal, the characters are wandering around every episode and the viewer has no narrative thread to follow. For contrast, here are examples of clear narrative plots/motivation: 1. (Inuyasha) 2 MCs have to find shards of a powerful jewel that can grant wishes while an enemy is also after the same jewel 2. (Naruto) Outcast ninja MC finally has friends but one of them leaves the village for revenge. MC tries to bring said friend back, and finds out that a mysterious organization is after his sealed powers 3. (My Hero Academia) A non-powered MC living in a powered world inherits a superpower from his favorite hero, and must now join the fight against villains targeting him and the people he cares about So, I completely understand your confusion because Yashahime's narrative plot is as follows: 3 MCs from different eras and upbringing are brought together to do what they've already been doing after rejecting a mystical tree spirit's plea to prevent the destruction of the world

As a writer, my main issue with Yashahime is the clarity of the Yashahimes' motivations. I disagree that the motivation at this point of the series is to find the dream butterfly. It is Towa's motivation only, but she's lost without the other two helping her out. So, unless the other two have the same motivation, that plot point is still sort of dead in the water. Moroha's motivation is to be a bounty hunter, but the underlying reason is not yet revealed. And, Setsuna's motivation is to remain as a demon slayer as she does not seem to want to find the dream butterfly. So, with 3 different motivations at this point (1/3) of the story, I believe that is what's confusing viewers. The main plot may be what you say it is, however, it is not clear to the audience, at this point in time. What made Inuyasha compelling was because the plot was clear from the beginning/first few episodes: collect the sacred jewel shards and defeat Naraku. The other characters joined Inuyasha and Kagome because they had the same motivation: which raised the stakes and made collecting the shards and defeating Naraku more important. In Yashahime's case, you have three characters put together without a clear motivation/goal to follow. That is what is confusing viewers, not the plot, in my opinion. I agree that the mystery grows with each episode, however, adding mystery to each episode is useless if the creator (author) is the only one who knows what is really going on until the very end. Yashahime seems to be doing the opposite of Inuyasha, where the motivations are unclear until a final reveal, which is why viewers can't find a narrative thread they can follow. It's like we're looking at a bunch of puzzle pieces we have no way of putting together because we don't have a goal/reference to decipher the clues.
@bpsara
@bpsara 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, thank you! This is the core problem and it grows into the rest of the issues. Unless the three of them get a common goal to move the story forward, they’re just going to keep floating around and waiting for the key plot points to appear without really earning them. There’s already been a few goals/motivations they could’ve agreed on (like the dream butterfly, investigating treekyo, stopping the four perils, or even showing interest in at least ONE of their parents) but they either never agree or show any concern other than immediately defeating something. So many plot hooks and they just leave them there until they get autosolved and the yashahimes happen to stumble upon all the answers at the end.

From one writer to another, you hit the nail on the head. I thought it was just my nostalgia hitting me, but I'm sure that the cliffhangers and emotional stops in the OG series almost always circled back to the main conflict in every episode. Thanks for pointing this out! I also feel that the plot pattern they're following now is decreasing the story's sense of urgency instead of building it up.

Even with the "main villian" they have no real interest or stake in finding and defeating them. It was just a forced plot thrown at them and for whatever reason we have to believe that this is what they have to do when they themselves dont even care or even really aware of how severe the stakes are. Like you said the author know but we as viewers and the main cast are in the dark as to why should we care especially when they get taken out so easily and quickly. Im.all over the place here hut bare with me lol its frustrating that towa wants to get setsunas memories back when honestly they were only together for a short time... her own memories of being with her sister she barely recalled herself so why is it.so important for her to regain the memories when she looks like shes perfectly ok with accepting the fact that you are her sister and sees you no different? They have been building a relationship just fine in the amount if time they spent with each other so what's the main objective to get her memories? And moharu is just a carefree puppy so she doesnt even care to.find out her past or her parents. They have no interest yet again to find out the answers to all these mysteries so it's just lacking any reason for any of these girls to be on a journey. If anything this could just be a one off show about 3 bounty hunters just trying to make it 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

@@anonview I agree that the slowing down of the pace and the minimizing of the stakes affects the enjoyment of watching this show. By having the monster-of-the-week stories in there with no real purpose except to show off Towa getting new powers (ex. The Cat Villege episode) it puts the urgency to resolve the mystery/plot to a grinding halt. The show's writers actually committed the rookie mistake (that I've made tons of time, too) of writing a novel build-up for a short story. How would you have written Yashahime? Moroha had the opportunity to TRAVEL TO THE FUTURE and meet her mom's family, and she didn't even ask them any questions! Even the Higurashi family didn't ask about Kagome, when they haven't seen her in 15+ years?? Same thing with the twins, treekyo is telling them to kill their dad and they just say "no" and don't even bother asking where he is and how they can meet him or their mom. It's hard to care about their disappearance when even the main characters don't care...? It doesn't feel like a mystery at all, it just feels like they're saying "forget about the old characters, they aren't relevant anymore" and that sucks. The girls are cute don't get me wrong, but separating inuyasha & kagome from their daughter and miroku & sango from their kids for 14+ years is possibly the most heartbreaking plot Sunrise could have come up with, and they are not even doing a good job at making us care about it.

I agree with 90% of everything you said. Towa’s fluctuating morality don’t bother me as much. She’s a girl who was raised by Sota, not a indoctrinated monk. It makes sense that she would not like the situation to be handled in a violent way, but when real lives are in danger she would have to do what’s necessary. Truly, that doesn’t bother me at all. (The quick fights that make the villains seems ridiculously weak though... I’m with you!)

For me, this series is more mysterious than confusing. Some parts that are interesting for me until now : 1. It seems that Moroha knew more about Sesshoumaru than the twins. 2. It seems that Moroha knew more about the other (twins) parent (Sesshoumaru) than her own parents (Inuyasha & Kagome). 3. Kohaku didn't know that Setsuna is half demon/sesshoumaru's daughter until Kaede told him though Setsuna is working with him as demon slayer. Why Kaede not told Kohaku before? Kaede also not tell Setsuna that her father is Sesshoumaru. That's why Setsuna do not know about her father when the tree talk about him. 4. Seems that Kaede knew more about some things but not tell until it's necessary. The monk who is like Miroku also don't talk (like mute person) when he give ....to Jyubei. For me, it is like everyone here should not talk until it is necessary. 5. Although Higurashi family curious that Moroha is Kagome's daughter, no one ask her for this information + Sota talk about Kagome to Towa , not to Moroha. 6. Although it's possible Rin is the twins' mother but i see that Towa is more like Kagome (besides she growth in Higurashi family) : experience, character, etc. And i think when Sota found her, she said ' i just feel like i can trust this person' ~ something said like she is connected with Kagome + Sota also like knew soon where her origin from. I think whoever the twins' mother is, the twins has more connection with Kagome in some ways (maybe). 7. Kaede know about Moroha as Kagome's daughter but not talk about this to Moroha + Myoga also know but don't explain more of this to Moroha. Maybe that's why Moroha is not interested in her parents.

I think if the anime opened with revealing the fate of the original gang right off the bat it would be more of an impact. There was no mystery in inuyasha really. Sacred jewel broke and now we have to recover it from evil or the world might be doomed. Inuyasha's dad was dead which complicated the relationship between the two brothers. Boom, upfront and honest. Yashahime being written in such a way that we assumed that everyone lost their memories was a big red flag that this was gonna be a mess. If the girls were on a quest to avenge or save their parents it would be so much better. Plus Setsuna isn't a good enough character to make me care about this adventure. Since she's so quiet and calm the audience doesn't care if she really gains her memories back. Only towa actually cares, and moroha is just in it for the loot. There is a good way to write a mystery, this is just sloppy writing.

I feel hardly agree with everything you said within inuyasha everything was up front and centered ... It was clear and the writing was good But as for yashahime when this series started I thought that they were going to show what happened to the OG gang right off the back so we'd stop worrying and be able to focus on the three girls... But instead we get piles and piles of sloppy writing that feels rushed and bad pacing Three girls being on a quest to save their parents would be way better.. but so far we're just getting nothing but a hot mess and loose ends of what are we doing are we getting memories back ....but we don't care but we supposed to be caring but we're not actually working towards that goal if they were actively looking for the dream butterfly or even actively looking for some kind of answers it would be a different story but they're just stumbling 😵🙄 And setsuna it kind of is an empty shell that's hard to care about This is what you get when a studio writes the script instead of a manga artists

@@Wildstar5267 I agree with you completely. The writing is really bad. The pacing and buildup is too slow for a 24 episode story. It's like an author writing a novel introduction but, they're supposed to be writing a short story. The creators should have started with what happened to the OG cast, or, at least a version of what might have happened to the OG cast. For example, what if the audience and the characters think that the OG cast was slaughtered by Sesshomaru? There could have been drama/tension between the cousins like between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. We (as the viewers) can then follow either Moroha or the twins as we find out the truth of what really happen to their parents. How would the twins deal with their father being labeled a "murderer"? Can Moroha learn to accept her cousins despite the loss of her parents? Then, in the end of the story arc, it can be revealed that Sesshomaru didn't kill of the OG cast, he instead sacrificed himself to save everyone and got sealed away by Kirinmaru. I thought of that plot in 10 minutes, and I feel that it would have been much better than Yashahime's current plot.

If I was writing Yashahime, I would have resolved what happened to the parents and OG characters right away. For those who don't like the idea of killing off Sesshomaru: he could always be brought back as his reincarnation in the modern era where he meets his wife and kids again. The end.

There's a difference between confusing and mystery and I think we know way to less, that's why it's confusing. InuYasha did a great job with their first episode(s). Kagome falls in a well, she traveled back in time, there's the jewel that gets destroyed and every demon wants a piece. Bam, Story is clear✔️ Yashahime instead started with a white haired girl being kidnapped and then some scenes with old characters. It took three/four episodes until one could say that the main story may be about the dream butterfly. Also, we don't know why they know nothing about their families. E.g. : The reunion of Moroha was like "You're my daughter's daughter?" "Maybe?" "Great." And they were back to the past. Kagomes family reaction was so low. No one was worried about that her daughter has never met her and doesn't care about her. There are to many unsolved question (family, rainbow pearls, big enemies that are destroyed in two minutes, the aim of the evil ones,...) that makes it unpleasant and confusing to see. In my opinion ofc.

But now im kinda disappointed. Its crazy that the twins can kill any demon easily when in Inuyasha, the gang got their asses kicked. Hell Inuyasha nearly died almost every fight and it had me on the edge of my seat. Also these characters are already unlocking all their abilities when it took like 30 episodes for Inuyasha to finally start learning how to use his sword. They are too OP. Also I really want to see the main characters. I understand that Yashahime is supposed to be about the trio but I mean come on most of us came here from Inuyasha so we really wanna see the OG cast. Like there are still characters from Inuyasha to expand upon - (like maybe meet again or team up to fight). Inukimi (Sesshomaru's mother), Jinenji, the characters who said "I wanna be like Inuyasha when I grow up", and countless more. I would like to see more of Toga's rivals and maybe see way more badass demon fights. Like one thing I loved about Inuyasha was all the lore and demon myths and legends but Yashahime is kinda lame...

A lot has happened so far, but not a lot accomplished IMO. By episode 9 of the original series, we got to understand Inuyasha's mentality as a half breed, his relationship with his mother, the mythology around his father, all leading up to the confrontation with Sesshomaru at his father's gravesite and the significance of Tetsusaiga. I feel like the original series was more efficient with building the world up, and that the abilities/monsters/etc being introduced had significance in revealing more (before it went full on monster of the week). Yashahime just seems like they skipped straight to the monster of the week part to me.

The problem with most anime these days is that they pack everything to fit a small amount of episodes, and then never make a 2nd season. There are some really good anime that I liked that end up with this issue. Like Deadman Wonderland, Alice Academy, Dimension W, Servamp, Blood Lad, etc. But most anime that get longer eps. are harem, isekai, and slice of life which I am not fond of. All the Yashahime eps. so far try to have the demons defeated in 1 episode, so it's just rushed as you said. I think if they just try to focus on making a good anime instead of pouring out a lot of anime, it will gain traction. I know some people may like slice of life anime and stuff, but for me I am left to having interest in like 0-2 anime per season.

I highly suspect that the shortage of animators in Japan is the reason for this. Due to the poor working conditions and low pay, a lot of young artists aren't going into anime any more, leaving studios short-staffed. I don't know if anyone has crunched the numbers on this, but it's likely that it coincides with anime getting shorter seasons and often failing to get green-lit for second seasons. Back in the early 2000s, you still saw anime regularly getting 50+ episode seasons, but those days are pretty much over (with the exception of some shounen series). A lot of anime only get 12 episodes, maybe 26 if they're lucky. Inuyasha Kanketsuhen notably shoved two story lines into every episode, when back in the original series a single story line might get one or two episodes to itself, at least. Sailor Moon Crystal is notable for regularly irregular delays, with each season having years in-between with no news. Finally, season 4 is going to be adapted into two movies instead?? I have a strong suspicion that Toei couldn't get a studio which handles TV anime to commit to the work and instead had to turn to a studio for films. No evidence to back that up, but then, Toei has failed to ever provide an explanation for the long delays.

I don’t mind getting bits and pieces, it’s more that it doesn’t feel organic.

THIS. This is what bothers me the most. Everybody mentions that they are daughters of Inuyasha, Kagome and Sesshoumaru, but they never talk about them. The tree said “you have to kill your father” they said no, and never asked about that to Kaede or Kohaku?? Why don’t Kaede and Kohaku mention anything about them? They personally knew them (principally their mother, which Kaede basically raised). The girls went to Kagome’s house, Moroha meets her grandparents and uncle, clearly say that she never met Kagome... and nobody question where the heck is Kagome?? What happened to her? Doesn’t her family care? That’s so unnatural. I almost feel like something happened and... either everybody agreed to never talk about that again OR there are some magic shenanigans preventing them from remembering or caring about that. If that’s the case this unsettling situation would be justified and finding out in the end would be extremely relieving. However, if it is just many plot holes... I’ll be mad.

@@Fernandanatac EXACTLY! I have been making this same argument since the beginning. Don't have my guy Sesshomaru pop up here and there but not speak with his daughters and niece! Why does Treekiyo want them both to die? And why are the girls just saying No but don't ask why? Why does Moroha not know her parents? Why don't the twins? Where they with Sesshomaru when they were infants to 4, when the fire started? We know Sesshomaru loves his daughters cos he took then when they were infants but where? Were they with grandma Sesshomaru or what? I totally understand that this is not a show about the OG cast, but my issue is that they have said NOTHING about what happened. They showed the fire and flashes of them as children, I just wished before they started talking about killing Sesshomaru and before they started talking about being separated I just wish Kaeda gave us the story about what happened. Why the hell is Miroku traveling and where is Sango and the twins? It just seems choppy and makes you wonder why even Kohaku or Hisiu is not saying ANYTHING about his sister's and mom? Like OK Kaeda is a village elder and she knows that Sesshomaru came and got his girls so why is she not telling us what happened? Why are they trying to make Sesshomaru a bad guy again cos he is not a bad guy and I don't believe he killed Inuyasha. They just should have told more of the back story before jumping into this. I mean they went into detail about root head so why not about everyone else? It just seems rushed and choppy and I know it takes time but I just wish those questions were answered before they jumped into this. Like is the only reason Towa is there is to get Setsunas memories, sleep, and dreams? I would think they would want to know about their parents. Uuuggh I don't know, I just wish they told us what happened in the past so it would make sense now

My problem with Yashahime is that characters don't talk with each other, they just don't share information (and if they do, it's off screen). For example, Treekyo. Woman is supposed to be the splitting image of Kagome. Do any of the girls notice? Who knows! Later, Myoga says Moroha is the daughter of Kikyo's reincarnation. Ok, you will think finally Towa would think about Treekyo and start wondering about things, she doesn't. It doesn't matter. In other words, any alleged mystery in Yashahime is only on the viewers head, because neither the characters or the narrative are asking any question.

My theory: time travel. I think the main villian used time travel in a way to mess up the time line so sertain characters are gone (kagome, inuyasha, sango, shippo). Would explain why some characters cant seem to recall others either. And the rainbow pearls are either the cause and/or solution to fixing it. Also i think the fact that sesshoumaru is portraied as a villian, is because the life of his wife was used against him somehow. Its also pretty obvious at this point that what happend to rin and sesshoumaru is the key to knowing what happend to everyone else, so their backstory must at some point come to light (and thats what im waiting for). Some things bug me that Axel didnt bring up: like how the girls never ask questions about their parents where abouts, they obviously know about them since so many around them keep mentioning them. Also they never question how people they meet at different villages knows to call them yasahime, did someone spread awearness of them? Is it a prophecy? And the fact that they never aknowledge it is wierd. They never enter a place and introduce themselves as yasahime, everyone just knows thats what they are called, and they go along with it. Them not aknowledging things bugs me.

Sesshomaru is mysterious and we saw him here and there in Inuyasha (more in TFA) that what made him interesting. If we saw Sesshomaru in every freaking episode since day 1 he wouldn't be as interesting and maybe even boring, that unfortunately what happens with Setsuna in Yashahime. Also it's easier to see Sesshomaru character development because he isn't in every episode. The fact that most people love Moroha more than the twins (by far) is a huge deal and no that more than "she is Inuyasha daugther". The way Sunrise wanted to avoid making Moroha the main character to not make the show repetitve, completely backfire.

I love Sesshomaru he was always a treat to me. I love every episode he is in, including Yashahime. I get overly excited I admit XD. Yea with the quick elimination of the perils I kinda figure it'll be a short series. But yea Towa growth rate is quick, she was the one that didn't even know she was a half demon but seem to inherit a lot of her fathers abilities. It took Inuyasha almost 2 seasons to learn how to use the wind scar. And since it looks like Setsuna inherit her father personality I also wouldn't think she'll warm up to Towa so quickly. It took Sesshomaru at the end of the season to somewhat warm up to Inuyasha. Even when he actively stop trying to get tessiaga he still didn't warm up to him though there were small momonets whn he did help and protected Inuyasha without being obvious about it. And for some positivity on the characters I love Moroha sooo much she has an awesome personality. I admit though I am impatient about what happen to everyone, espeically with Rin. I would like to know how she change from that small child. Her personality and temperament must have grown and it would be exciting to see. I just really hope the ending don't get screw because of it being a mini series. Alot of those type of series always have an open ending (but then again they are still going on in the manga, just not the anime). I really hope I do not get disappointed in the end.

Solid points made. My favorite thing about Yashahime is Moroha's character. The way that she is drawn and written is very good and seems to be a very consistent thing while other things in the story are not so stable just yet. I also like the Soundtrack and how much thought went into it. Also the girls have some pretty cool signature attacks. I agree with most of this, I have left my full grievance on the episode 8 review in two sections so won't go into it now too much. I think there is a fine line between creating mystique and lowkey fan baiting. One is confident with a purposeful sense of direction towards how and what story is to be told. The other just needs to keep you coming back until they have had enough time to really get the story together. And since it's a fix-as-we-go thing, it can lead to abrupt political changes for the sake of the audience that may not even be in agreement with the original story. I'm hopeful though that it doesn't turn to that. In terms of development, I think your idea for how they could have handled this was perfect. I was thinking " Dang, yeah, I would have loved to watch that episode". I got interested in your version of how the cat episode could have been. Don't feel bad about voicing your opinion. I think it was more than fair, and much gentler than mine and some others have been, although similar. I don't find what you said to be negative, so much as relevant critical evaluation.

I don't think it (the plot) is confusing either, so much as I think it is not written/directed well. They start ideas and then are inconsistent with following through. Which is crazy because they had so many ingredients to make an awesome stand alone sequel that was still interesting and unique, even without the OG cast and they are seemingly blowing it. I feel you. I would love to see Sango and the rest of her children as well and even little Shippo. I wanted to see more about the demon slayers, since this is the new generation and hear old Kaede stories again. They really had an awesome anime handed to them, with the blessing of the creator and it's just blowing my mind how they missed so many opportunities. I really was ready to love this show as the first sequel to an anime to actually be good, but goodness this is a struggle. Maybe if they get a new season they will.

A great video as always, Axel! Yes, you practically hit all the main points with Yashahime! Especially the lack of weight, a perfect way to summarize the big issues! This can also be applied to the earlier episodes when Moroha met her extended family. I was really hoping for some emotional character interactions, especially with Kagome’s mom and Sota (I wanted those tears and gasps of realization!), but unfortunately they brushed the opportunity off with minimal dialogue. Also would love to have a greater conflict for Towa’s development. She already had issues in the modern era because of her mindset and actions (going into fights, weak people are annoying because they bully others to make them feel strong, etc), but the softness/pacifist ideals she inherited also makes her unfit to survive in the feudal era. So which time period does she truly fit in? Having that thought and inner turmoil would help flesh out Towa’s character than just having her change her mind whenever the plot needs her to. I initially was most excited for Towa because of that righteous but naive personality, but the later episodes made me cringe 😫

About Towa's growth is exactly my point, she doesn't earn them through struggles or character development. Her uncle earned his powers better she did. Because of her "growth" compared to her uncle, I like her sister more than her. Towa's resolve issues also gets on my nerve. Her aunt wasn't as flaky when it came to fighting demons in the original. As for the where the original casts are, again my point exactly, this isn't about them, but their legacy. So what if we don't get any information on them right away? Trying to de-mystify them all at once isn't going to help sell the show. It's part of world building to try and unravel things slowly. It wouldn't be satisfying if we knew what happened immediately and are left with nothing to watch except fillers until the show down with big bad.

I do agree, this is so good video (I hate the fact while watching any of your videos I get 3-4 times different ads in the middle even if it is short video) my main problem is that they only started and they seem to have stong powers and they have no time ti improve their own skills like in the original series where they were meeting smaller demons first and developped some skills, including the relationships. it is like they try to make inuyasha, the whole series into one movie, cutting a lot, few scenes and they do powerful atack and then... done. but I also like every small moments of showing their character relationship developments, however it is still hole-y a lot which I hope to be answered as the time goes by. I wish instead of rushing the series, making it into a short one, they should have planned it to make it longer, let the characters improve slower. Towa is my favourite character of all, however, her development is also bad due the timelimit, I hope it is the problem. She says how killing id bad, but killing demons without problem, I think she needed more time to get to that point, maybe she still against it and try to solve things in her way, which is fine, it is her way, and she can remain naive till the very end too, but we don't see any developments, what she went through to get conclusions that killing demon is okay. I think that should need more than few minutes to be able to know and learn it is fine to kill demons. neativity about Towa for me, her love for setsuna. even afeter 10 years, she is clingy toward setsuna, way too clingy, and she trust setsuna way more than it feels right to me. I understand she wants to be with her sister, she wants the old life she had with her, she can remain to dream of that, but as time pass she needs to realize setsuna is not that same girl, setsuna has her own way, and not follow her blindly. Sometimes Towa needs her opinion and her thought to be heard. as it was said, out of the three, towa seems to be the most esponsibe, and I agree with that, she needs to take the lead, and yet she follows setsuna blindly. Moroha is really goofy character, give a lot of fun scenes, also towa has many cool, calm and funny moments, I love that in the series of course I love the seres, and can'T wait to see more till the end, and hopefully we get answered to all we dont know yet! I loved inuyasha as well, yet I could mention few parts I don't like as well. have you ever thought to make a video like this but about inuyasha?

This is great. I really appreciate your critique. I enjoy Yashahime in a very light "Oh, here's the thing I like to look at!" kind of way. It continues Inuyasha and I am enjoying the nostalgia, but you're right how there are missed opportunities for character development. I love seeing the inherit qualities of Sesshomaru and Rin in Towa and Setsuna. I love how they are expanding the characters in this world/story. I enjoy how we "see" Sesshomaru in the same mysterious way we saw Toga. With Toga he was so powerful, so outrageous, he was mythic and faceless. Now (probably for plot reasons) we see Sesshomaru in that role: The powerful mythic creature at a legendary level of power. We're not allowed to see more than his shoes! (and note we still know EXACTLY who he is).

To me the show isn't confusing, it's just boring. I do think it's a mistake trying to force Towa into this lead protagonist role. She has no real conflict. She does not have a struggle, and she does not learn. They just keep giving her power ups she has never has to learn/practice. I feel like Moroha has the better story. I love seeing Setsuna every episode, she totally reminds me of her dad. Sesshomaru had such depth to the end of his character arc. Imo I think they're going to use the mystery and his lack of talking and backstory so far that something will come to light as to why the kids are alone, why Sesshomaru is teaming with the enemy (from the look of it). I think that they're laying the pieces out for an awesome ending tied into a bow. Sesshomaru has a plan, we'll see how it plays out. Or at least set up season 2 to get more information. I think a lot of Towa's nativity will be put in check soon. I think one of these 4 perils will injure either Setsuna or Moroha and we'll get more information and have character growth for Towa. She needs to grow, and not just in abilities. In Inuyasha when a character got injured it was at least an episode or 2 for recovery and then there's lessons learned. We need more of that in Yashahime. I do love the show so far though 🥰 Sesshomaru was my favorite, I love seeing his kids

Thank you for making this video! You really tackled the pacing issue that some of the fans have been noticing in the past fighting scenes. I love Yashahime and the whole mystery plot, but like you said, some moments or scenes feels off and out of context and placed in the wrong time throughout each of the whole episode. The problem was not really in the wholeness of the series but rather in each episode. I really hope that they fix these points in the future. Timing really is important when telling a story, and Myoga is always off-time 😂.

I think one of the problems here is that people think this is Inuyasha 2. It's far from that. I do agree with you on Towa and her abilities, but with Setsuna she's on of the main characters and part of the party, so it makes sense that she appears everyday. I also agree with what you said about the Perils. But i think these things are simply being rushed because they dont have that many episodes to tell the story, which is a shame. But as someone said, it appears they need to get the perils out of the way asap to get to kirinmaru and the parents

No I disagree with you on that my friend, I don't think people are thinking it's Inuyasha, I think the problem is that they just jumped into this without telling us what happened to everyone else and they made it seem like Sesshomaru is a bad guy when obviously he is not and he just wants his wife (Rin, ps. Don't start with me about that Rumiko herself said Sesshomaru and Rin were married 👰😊) and children. Like I said before, they told us about root head so they should have told us about what happened in the past to bring all these crosses to bear. Kaeda gives us some info then acts like she and Kohaku don't know shit! That is my only issue with the show other than Towa being so naive. I think if they can figure out a way to go back and forth like Kagome did with the well, if the parents don't show up somehow other than flashbacks, then I believe Towa will stay in the feudal Era and Setsuna will go back to the modern age with the ability to go back and forth if need be. Moroha may do the same since her only family, other than her cousins, are in the modern age.

Well its a Sequel of Inuyasha so completly ignoring the OGs and the OG Story just does not work. I feel like many new viewers are ok with this but older Fans of Inuyasha like me watching the Series since 12+ Years its just heart breaking to see everyone gone, the girls not knowing about their parents or even caring, no plot that explains the problem that has to be solved and why no one, not even the Higurashis ask what happend to Kagome or Inuyasha after 15 years of not seeing them.

@@woolypuffin392 Gurl right! I believe that is a problem also. Just give us something other little clips of them in some kind of confrontation but with whom? As I said many times before and will probably keep saying it, but the amount of time they spent showing basically the same story twice just with a few changes (Towa being kidnapped), they could have devoted an episode or 2/half episodes to explain this situation re:the parents. Cos come on people, let's be honest with each other cos even if we don't know each other and are from around the globe, we are ALL Inuyasha fans so how many of us are TRULY invested in what the girls are doing? Do we REALLY care about this butterfly and Setsunas dreams and memories or Moroha's debt? NO, no we don't. But we continue to watch cos it's a sequel 10 years after are favorite show went off air so YES we will watch because we are waiting for then to tell us about our favorite demon dog brothers and their wives. Now had we known what happened to the others then MAYBE, just MAYBE, I will be able to give a damn about the girls ON THEIR OWN, not just because they are the children of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. I'm sorry guys but I know you understand 😊

@@charminglady2011, contradicts whose statement? Mine? Naw, don't think so. And what makes you think Inuyasha didn't get his happy ending? He and Kagome got married and had a daughter what more do you want?

I agree with all of your points, I haven't been thinking about as much as the story goes really fast. And I have seen stories that has been really rushed, and the story does not go as well. Like you said I do hope that they will fix it sometime later. Also I do hope that will give a bit more info for Setsuna since she is my favors character in Yashahime. But over all does are my only two concerns about the show.

I really want some kind of answers but that's also my favourite part about the series, the suspense. I really hope what's going on will live up to all this mystery. I feel like it will be more emotionally heavy reveal than like ooh twist ending kind of feeling. That can be a great thing because the more they cut the characters down the more they can build them up.
