Hi everyone! Today I’ll be demonstrating the oil cleansing method, an amazing alternative to soap based cleansers. This method is also great for acne prone skin. I’ll be showing you how to make your very own oil cleanser that is tailored perfectly to YOUR skin type. I also included the blends that I prefer for summer and winter in this video.
Cotton rounds: www.amazon.ca/Reusable-Cleans...
The Oil Cleansing Method:
Step one: Use oil cleanser to remove any make up with reusable cotton round.
Step two: Massage more oil into skin for about a minute.
Step three: Wet a organic cotton or hemp cloth with water as hot as you can tolerate.
Step four: Place cloth over face and leave until cool, then wipe away oil.
Step five: Use a toner and apply a few more drops of oil cleanser to moisture your face.

Great video. I’m 50 and I’m impressed at how accurate your information is. Bravo to you for being factual to your audience. It speaks volumes about you. ❤ May I suggest an Amber or blue bottle as light degrades certain oils and essential oils. Best to be on safe side and use dark containers when you’re putting such love and care into your skin. If you believe in this sort of thing, place an aquamarine crystal or stone where you care for your skin and its natural energy gives you protection and youth. Again thank you for your accurate information and I’ve liked and subscribed and sent my teenage daughters your channel to subscribe too. ❤

Personally I have found oil cleansing works best when you dampen your face first. I love using ACV as toner too, although I mostly just use it when broken out since with oil cleansing you don't have to worry about returning your face to proper PH.

No way, you too? I thought I am the only one here feeling so right about cleansing my face first with lukewarm water before the oil cleansing method. Whenever I try skipping straight into the OCL it breaks out on my T-zone from my combination skin. Which is weird because nobody has ever told me something like this before despite I use only jojoba oil. I tried castor oil + jojoba as well but breaking out means breaking out no matter what oil

@@ayananosimilo954 ok, so I switched to honey cleansing a week ago as my skin doesn't consent the bare, pure oils on my face. It reacts and breakouts badly despite any of the oils I'd used. But it does still work for my face scrub, I added coconut oil, lime/lemon, sugar and honey for face scrub and for the cleansing method I use honey + pure aloe vera gel, that's it. Honey alone can work wonder for the cleansing, additionally I find it a little cheaper than the cleansing oil price. Anyways since my skin has been experimented badly so I had to add aloe vera in the honey blend therefore it can heal faster. You can try jojoba oil on your face first if it doesn't work then stop, nothing will work even when proceeding in persist trying another oil types. Switch to honey like me maybe your skin just has its own personality and it doesn't like oily things

@RenegadeBeauty
@RenegadeBeauty 3 жыл бұрын
Pamela Schmitt yes definitely apply oil before the steaming cloth, it’s actually ideal to massage the oil into your skin for about a minute to really get it into your pores. I usually do add more oil before using the steaming cloth even if I do remove my makeup with the oil cleanser first. I must have either forgot in the hastiness of trying to finish this video before the sun went down (hence the slight graininess in the video lol) or I forgot to add that clip in 🙈

Sorry to get back to you so late, I usually only do oil cleansing at night after removing my makeup and then in the morning I spray toner and rub it evenly on my face and then apply some moisturizing oil while my face is still damp. If I didn’t wear makeup that day I usually just use moisturizer and toner at night and oil cleanse the next morning!

How long can this blend of oils can be stored? Do they go bad if stored for a long time?
@RenegadeBeauty
@RenegadeBeauty 3 жыл бұрын
I usually reference the expiry date on each of the oils that I put in. They should all have an expiry date on the label. If you store your oil cleanser out of the sun/light and keep it sealed when not in use it should last quite some time, I’ve never had any rancid smells or other indications they’ve gone off. The longest I’ve had them stored before I’ve used it up is a year and a half

I’m back haha reaching out again! 😳 I had some questions about the OCM method. I hope that’s okay! I was curious for as to how long you’ve been doing this routine. How often do you oil cleanse in the am or pm? Do use any other skincare products that are not oils besides the toner, and more oil for moisturizer? I’m currently using this method and I don’t want to go back to “chemical based” skincare but I’m having a hard time to find a balance. I’m personally so accustomed to a moisturizer rather than a oil. I think my skin gets more on the dry side if I cleanse both in the morning and night. I prefer doing it once a day at night and think it is efficient. On the other-hand I workout in the mornings so I’m not sure what to do to cleanse afterwards? For instance I’ll shower, then oil cleanse and apply makeup I have to cleanse in the night again to remove my makeup. The last thing I want to do is over exfoliate and tug at my skin. As for days I don’t wear makeup should I just apply oil as my normal moisturizer and go about my day and underneath my makeup when I use it? I know this is a lot to take in haha! I’m so embarrassed but I’m trying to grasp this change haha. I’m hoping you may have some recommendations or tips! Thank you lovely ☺️

No worries at all I’m more than happy to share my experience! I’ve had most of the same concerns and questions you’re asking when I first started. I’ve been oil cleansing for just over 3 years. I only oil cleanse in the evening, I’ve heard of some people saying you can do both morning and night but for the most part I don’t think it’s necessary. As for the dry skin are you using castor oil as your cleansing oil? It can be quite drying, I would either recommend use less or switch to coconut oil. If it is castor oil I don’t think it’s hydrating enough to use as to moisturize afterward. For after working out I usually just wipe off my face and apply toner and moisturizer / oil moisturizer but if you feel like this isn’t clean feeling enough I would rinse with a bit of water (this can be drying but moisturizer should help rehydrate) I don’t usually use my oil cleanser on its own, however it can be an all in one product for most people. I usually apply vintner’s daughter or may lindstrom blue cocoon after (expensive I know) but any clean moisturizer would do, living libations has great cream moisturizers, I really like the rose one. The days I don’t wear make up I don’t oil cleanse I just add some oil/cream in the morning and night for extra hydration. When I put on make up I find that oil moisturizers can be quite oily so I will either use a cream before (living libations) or I will apply one of the oil moisturizers and give it 20-30 minutes for my skin to absorb a good amount of it. Don’t be embarrassed I’m always really happy/flattered when people value my opinion! Hope this helps! Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any other questions ❤️

Awh! You are so sweet. Thank you so much for the well thought feedback. It was honestly so helpful and answered most of my questions!! Okay so let’s see I’ve only been using jojoba oil to cleanse my skin and moisturize with. I also bought sweet almond oil but I have not used it as I’ve been using just the jojoba oil alone to cleanse and moisturize with. I started out with this oil since it’s the closest to our skins sebum and I heard it was a great starter oil to begin the OCM. I honestly wasn’t to sure how I felt about adding Castor oil to my mix 😳 maybe I should have. I know that it is a cleansing agent but Ive heard how drying it can be on the skin. I was confused as well if other oils can be used alone why do we need it? I’m sure it is trial an error everyone’s skin will react differently but I was concerned it was going to dry my face out. Also I’ve heard so many great things about living libations!! I’m honestly really interested especially that rose moisturizer you mentioned! It’s sounds so good and their sea buckthorn oil. I just can’t seem to get my self to pay its a bit pricey haha. Also the last thing I wanted to ask was what you do for spf to protect your skin? I’ve heard many things that oils alone are sufficient and your skin can defend itself with getting proper vitamin C each day from the sun. However I’m still on the fence about how this all works when I’ve been programmed that Spf is a MUST have and secret to good skin. Let me know what your thoughts are on this and what you think I should do for my mix? Thank you so much again. It’s greatly appreciated ! 💗

Hey again! I’m so sorry I didn’t get a notification that you replied to my comment, I only stumbled upon this now lol 😩 So! To answer your first question I felt weird about using castor oil in my oil cleanser as well especially since it’s known for promoting hair growth.. LOL but I’m happy to report that there has been no change in my facial hair growth. I’ve actually really come to appreciate castor oil in my oil cleanser, I would recommend trying 20% instead of 30% which I found to be way less drying especially when I mixed it with rosehip and argan oil. You definitely don’t have to use more than one oil but I highly recommend it because all oils have different properties, and when you combine the right ones for the skin concerns you want to address you can get amazing results. I tend to pick ones that are acne fighting and skin tone balancing and the most hydrating ones for winter which is why I use coconut oil as my cleansing oil in my mixture in the winter and castor in the summer. (Castor can still be great any time of year though) I think choosing castor oil or coconut oil in your oil cleanser is great because they will draw impurities out of your skin better and have antibacterial properties, so they can be more purifying. I never go without one or the other. Haha ain’t that the truth! Living libations is quite expensive but I will say I have never been disappointed and they are one of the cleanest companies around. This is honestly the reason I started making my own cleanser to cut costs in the long run. I really love their everybody loves sunshine zinc lotion for spf! I also wear Josh Rosebrook nutrient day cream and I love it! Sometimes I use cc cream with spf if I choose to wear light makeup like Juice Beauty. You are right though some oils have their own UV protection like coconut oil which I use for my body if I’m going in the sun. In the winter I’m not as concerned (even though some say you should be but honestly are we even outside that much?? Lol) but definitely more in the summer! Let me know if you there’s anything else you’re curious about love I promise to check in the next few days so your comment doesn’t get missed!! xx

I loved this thread 💕 very interesting & informative. I also don’t want to go back to chemical based. Oh dear! That’s very concerning for sure, are you using just almond oil in your oil cleanser? I would recommending switching to Jojoba oil because it’s the closest to the oil your own skin produces. Also are you positive the almond oil is cold pressed and not extracted through a chemical process? I always buy oils in glass bottles that are tinted as well to ensure the quality is preserved. Oil quality makes a huge difference but if this is not the case, there are small amounts of people who have a sensitivity to almond oil.

But coconut oil is extremely comedogenic and is not recommended for a face, only for hair and body...
@RenegadeBeauty
@RenegadeBeauty 3 жыл бұрын
I make all of my oil cleansers with the highest quality organic ingredients that are non-comedogenic. The coconut oil that I use is very pure, raw, organic and virgin which vastly differs from the fractionated oil so commonly used. This coconut oil is not clogging to pores. It is an integral part of the formula for skin health. There seems to be only one recent study on coconut oil and comedones. In 1989, a researcher used rabbit ears assay to test a range of common cosmetic ingredients and rated them for comedones on a scale of 0-5. Coconut oil was a 4 when applied undiluted for 2 weeks. This report was published in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology. The bloggers who argue that coconut oil is comedogenic are referring to this one study. Rabbit ears assay is a standard practice because research ethics frowns on experimenting on humans. Human assays are rare and usually private (though these private tests do not show comedogenic issues with coconut oil). However, our faces are not rabbit ears and the coconut oil in the oil cleanser is diluted with other botanicals. Also, coconut oil is a potent antibacterial agent, which is anti-acne. In 2008, the journal Dermatitis published studies on the positive use of virgin coconut oil to treat skin with atopic dermatitis which is readily infected by Staphylococcus aureus because it is emollient and antibacterial. Other studies have demonstrated how healing coconut oil is to wounds for the same reasons. The FDA does not maintain a list of non/comedogenic cosmetic ingredients and there aren't standardized tests to determine if a product is comedogenic. So, claims that ingredients are or are not comedogenic have limited usefulness. For years I have studied skin and plant oils and combed over hundreds of reviews and comments about how high quality coconut oil mixed with other high quality oils (that I mention in this video) help their skin and helped many clear tenacious acne issues. This is the best evidence that high quality, authentic, organic, virgin coconut oil used wisely and well contributes to healthy, smooth skin. However, every person's skin is different, if you prefer a formula without coconut oil, castor oil is another great option. I highly recommend trying coconut oil out though and seeing how your skin tolerates it.
@themeowinn4164
@themeowinn4164 10 ай бұрын
You're right, it's actually from your face if it wants to accept the oils or not. Despite being non-cosmedic it is still your face choice. Some is allergic to jojoba, Castor, anything oil possibly so the best we can so is to buy a small amount of every single suitable oils first and then check them each day. Your face feels what it means, rash and breakouts mean it doesn't work. Otherwise soft and comfortable... Experiment on your face by using only one oil each day to catch a feel, which one feeling better is most likely the best for your skin and the unused ones can be either cooked or do something else, needing to be looked up for
