The guy is scoring 20+ ppg which is what all the modern great scorers get in their rookie year. Add to that he’s leading the league in blocks and just doing insane things on the court and you just have to give the guy time. He’s going to be a perennial first team all NBA first team all defence guy. The Spurs are doing the right thing with him. They’re prioritising his health and his development over the teams. They have him 8 years if they want him to they need to make sure the final 4 years of that period they have a practically injury free Wemby with about 30 extra pounds on his frame. Then they can go out and compete.

But what I'm noticing is that he keeps taking and missing mid-range shots, and most games he's not taking enough shots close to the rim, except for maybe one or two fast break dunks. So to me, he's still not playing like a center, but he should be. His shooting percentage on two-point shots is only around 50%, which is not good for somebody that tall, when you consider that it includes dunks. So when I see him go 8 for 16 for example, including two for four from behind the arc, and that he had four dunks, it means that he shot 2/8 for all of his shot attempts that weren't threes of dunks. So I wish he would stop taking half of his shots, and convert them into closer to the rim shots.

Wemby is a rookie, and he is already GREAT! He will get better no matter who they put around him. But with that said, I'm curious, who would you rather see go to San Antonio, Trae Young or Dejounte Murray? DJ has the all-around game including star-level defense, and Trae has the superstar scoring ability, even under pressure. DJ may still have a chip on his shoulder about San Antonio and the whole "system" there, so I'm not sure he would want to go.

Tre IS the problem in Atlanta. He isn't a leader, and he is the guy. So when your "guy" isn't a leader but he takes dumb ass selfish shots and has a me first attitude, the TEAM can't flourish. That affects everyone involved. Tre would be dope on the LeLakers. His scoring punch would offset Lebrons age and amplify his basketball IQ. His 3pt game would greatly make hoop life easier for AD.
