I was tempted by steroids in the fall of 1975. My dad, who was a physician, warned me away from them. He told me that they were unnatural and that they would likely cause health problems. Also, my upper body genetics for muscle building was obviously average and "You will only change a little dog into a big little dog ... it's just not worth it, Rob!" Later in life, I'm glad I followed his advice. When it comes to the genetics for developing metabolic dysfunction, my family doctor told me I'm an outlier. Mix that with steroid use in youth and I could have had a big mess on my hands! I saw a documentary, about two decades ago, about a middle-aged man who had been a steroid user in his youth, and his angiogram showed plaques all over the place throughout his heart's arterial system. Yet, there are others who have used steroids with minimal adverse affects, like the guy who smokes all the time and makes it to 100. It's risky, so be careful.

@spodoinklehorse9 ай бұрын
What fkn age are you, 65?
@rdbm-uo5zt9 ай бұрын
@Manizalest0v4r, There was no actual statistical estimation made by my doctor, she thought it was obvious based on my lifestyle through the decades in addition to my medical history. She said you don't too often see patients who've done things mostly right and still have problems (I'm prediabetic and I had my first heart attack seven years ago). Problems that I usually see manifest in people who sit around playing video games, eating pizzas, and drinking Red Bull. I've been vigorously active (both weights and cardio) since May, 1977, and I cleaned up my diet in 2002. I've never been obese. In my blood work, nothing awful jumps out at you (e.g., LDL > 190, Glucose > 11.0, etc.). However, there's a number of markers outside the acceptable range. Keep in mind that many little risks multiply together; they don't add together.

Hi Greg! I’m a licensed therapist in Florida-I wanted to give my input on the psychosis fear mongering This is actually something that could be very true for people with background family history of schizophrenia, Bipolar 1, and other psychosis related mental illnesses. Remember it’s always possible this could be in someone’s family history and not be identified due to stigma/lack of resources/misdiagnosis. Imagine there is a genetic “switch” for someone who has family history- some people may go their entire lives without a break through event (start of psychosis) however if they engage in some drug use even if just experimentation- it could flip that “switch” and cause a break through event and onset of the illness. I will say you make a great point that people may be more concerned about physical appearance. It was very interesting hearing your perspective as always!

Now I didn't know what he took, my buddy probably didn't know either, but he blamed steroids and would always hammer the point home "I ain't touchin that sh*t" when the conversations came up. I didn't like working with them and didn't care for having people like that who were on gear, drugs or worse on both as customers where I worked security. I don't know if it was just the roids that started to change their personality to erratic, paranoid, emotionally unstable, violent or just amplified traits that were already but then drugs and/or alcohol made it even worse. Of the six or so guys I more or less kept in touch with after leaving that kind of work behind, only two made it into their 40s, the rest were dead from things like heart attacks and liver failure, offing themselves and one got killed by his drinking/speedball buddy who then offed himself in prison. So I'd hazard a guess your buddy had the right idea if the dude was on some kind of gear. For me, what I saw and experienced during that time was more like an enforcement of the attitude I had towards drugs and steroids .ie I don't need that crap to be me, I don't need that full stop. Funny thing though is that more than 20 years later, I still have a sixth sense about steroid users and people who are on drugs (who don't necessarily look it and are pretending they're not) and for better or worse the feeling that I need to have eyes on the back of my head so to speak when I'm around them.

I promise I'm not trying to start a rivalry, but between Coach Greg, and Dr Mike, these videos are really helpful.

That new category 20 or 30 lbs lighter is what mens' physique was supposed to be. But it would not be profitable for the Federation.

Excellent message that will mostly fall on deaf ears.

I think the real question is why do guys continue to want to get huge? Why not a natural look? I’m not huge, natural, do alot of body weight exercises and look great. I’m not trying to look like a bodybuilder. If that’s someone’s goal, cool go for it. But, why do so many guys want to be big and jacked? It doesn’t look better. It just looks bigger.

it’s a status symbol i like walking into a room knowing i am more muscular and look better naked, i am physically superior to the other men in my presence. this is the reason most people take steroids it’s not because they want to compete it’s because they like being superior to others, competition is just the excuse.

Yes being jacked helps.. but it is not the reason you're not getting dates

The thing I don’t get about bodybuilding is without steroids, the cream would still rise to the top. We should celebrate what the human body can achieve naturally at its peak. Not who is the best responder to exogenous hormones.
