Which (while I agree it's consistent and I'm not arguing with you or +Star Wars Explained at all) completely defeats the object of having code names at all. This is a mistake the Germans made in the second world war, for example referring to their long-range radar system as "Heimdall" (the far-seeing Norse God) and to a different radar system as Wotan. From Wikipedia: "Knowing that the god Wotan had only one eye, R. V. Jones, a British scientist working for Air Intelligence of the British Air Ministry and SIS inferred that the device used a single beam and from that determined, correctly, how it must work. A counter-system was quickly created which made Wotan useless." The main point being that if your code name includes ANY clues whatsoever as to the purpose of a project or mission, it is a bad code name...

No they weren’t. Star Forge and Death Star are two massive space stations built by bad guys for military purposes of their evil empire’s galactic conquest. BioWare just TRIED to be more original and instead making it shoot laser, it produces spaceships that shoot lasers. Which is the classic, almost textbook, example of failing at “original writing”. They didn’t really have any original idea for plot, so They took idea of Death Star and made something that serves exactly the opposite function to it. And yes. Starkiller base is just Death Star mark III. Which makes sense. Empire made two similar projects and while making them they’ve just up-scaled the project to planet-sized machine. Same theme, slightly different panache.

Cluster Prism i think would be most probably a Sun Crusher reference - he can destroy entire cluster of planet in one shot into sun, and is protected by crystallic-quantum armor which is prismatic to normal, human eyes.

I actually instantly thought of Starkiller Base being "War Mantle". I assumed it referencing to the mantle of the planet; the layer between the crust and the core. They called it War Mantle because they converted a planet into a weapon of war? To me that one just makes the most sense. And in that case, Stellar Sphere might be Death Star II because "stellar" as in "star", and sphere because it's spherical? (SPHERICAL!)

I seriously doubt "Black Saber" refers to the Mandalorian Darksaber as it is an artifact and a weapon that is not "super", but whose power is mostly symbolic. Plus, K2 specifies that the files they are looking at are for "structural engineering." Personally I like to believe that Black Saber refers to the Eclipse-class Super Star Destroyer.

That makes sense. But we could speculate on the importance of the black saber, being that it had some cameos on the clone wars as being something worth looking into. I agree that it’s most likely some sort of ship or other WMD, but they put Easter eggs in movies for a reason and they know it’s what keeps bringing the fans back for more.

To everyone saying there two different factions remember this. During Kylo Rens Rey interogation he states that they "Already have several pieces of the map recovered from archives of the empire" it's not crazy to think they also came across this. Don't forget even though scariff was destroyed a group as resourceful as the empire probably had backups archived. The data tapes likely served as the original data so the empire likely destroyed it to prevent the rebels leaking further information. As for the first order. We'll there imperials anyway so they would've had access.

One problem with this: The book makes it known that at least some of these other project names deal with different parts of the Death Star. The scientists were kept in the dark about the whole thing by being made to work on individual sections. Here's a quote from the book: "Galen wasn't alone in working for a counterfeit division and having his research put to alternative uses. Scattered across the galaxy were teams of scientists working on conventional weaponry, tractor beam and hyperdrive technology, even hull cladding systems. Each project was concealed behind names like Stellar Sphere, Mark Omega, and Pax Aurora. But all those paled in comparison with research on the superlaser." The particular plans that Jyn stole most likely didn't detail the laser weapon, nor did they detail the hyperdrive and whatever else. Project Stardust, as we see in the movies, focused more on the overall structure of the battle station, the blueprints of the layout and such. So given that you keep going back to the book as a source, this seems like a major oversight that debunks your theories here.

Hyperspace would also be useful for putting the entire Death Star into Hyperspace. For something that big, it would take a great deal of research for such a big hyperdrive and engines to move a 100-mile wide spherical starship through space.

Breaking down Pax Aurora makes me think of the population pacification that took place on planet Miranda in Serenity that inadvertently created the Reavers. Not only does the name fit, but in Serenity, the chemical introduced into the atmosphere to pacify the people was called "Pax".

Mark Omega could also be broken down "Mk omega" as in a final or ultimate version of a weapon. No idea what that might be. Likewise a "Mantle"was a kind of garment akin to a cloak, so "War Mantle" could be a system that adds armour and/or weapons to an existing object, be it a ship, world or perhaps a person.

Cluster Prism could be a coded reference based on the idea of the Prism- the Jedi's top secret prison hidden in the far reaches of Empire space. So Cluster Prism could mean a system of Dachau and Auschwitz-like concentration camps hidden in a remote cluster no one travels to. Hidden in a desolate system, it's easier to keep the political arrests, torture methods, and extermination protocols hidden from the unaware civilian population. Based on the staggering amount of slave labor output that the Nazis, Soviets, Chinese, Cubans, and North Koreans have extrapolated from their concentration camps, it would fall under the purview of military secrets since a lot of valuable manufacturing for military supplies can be gained from slave labor.

While the project would not a weapon in this case, it might be related to the Imperial Supercommando initiative we've seen in the show.

Mark Omega, or Last target could be a reference to the Empires last target to jump to before the unknown regions which would be Jakku, or Last Target as in last line of defense because Jakku, without any lead would be the Rebels last target, because it was the last of Imperial bases. That is why they built a top secret base on Jakku

Mark is also often used to denote a sequence iteration, though it is generally followed by a number. Then again Omega has a number-ish connotation. Cool video. I hope at least some of this proves to be accurate, so at least they (those writing the screenplays) won't just keep making death stars.

Maybe Cluster prism was the name given to researching how to you clusters of small kyber crystals to focus the Death Stars beams instead of large crystals? You have stated in previous videos that they used small crystals to supplement the lost large ones. Maybe that was the cover name. Perhaps the Blacksabers were the prototype superlasers and they wanted to use the name Darksaber. But, because the name had been applied to a weapon from the Clone Wars cartoon they changed the name to Blacksaber. Also, since it's now canon that the Death Star superlaser is fueled by Kybar crystals, that would mean that any of the proto-superlasers are almost quite literally giant planet cracking lightsabers. So the name makes sense.

Tho your speculation on War Mantle may be correct. Mantle may mean 'a loose sleeveless cloak or cape.' Which could be in reference to the continent training of the death troopers, or as mantle is used in other genres culmination of responsibilities. It could also refer to cross-spectrum cloaking similar to the technology used in LucasArts Rebel Assault 2, with the cloaked super star destroyers and the TIE Phantom V38.

While I agree that Black Saber was probably a reference to the Darksaber, from the novel of the same name, I also think that could be a mention to the laser used by General Hux to break down the wall barrier of the Alliance base on the salt fields of the planet Crait, this could also be a reference to the tracking devices used to follow the alliance ships through hyperspace, as the transmitted cuts those the black void of space.

Cluster prison Immediately reminds me of where the Death Star and World Devastators and Sun Crusher were designed in Legends. The Maw Cluster is a cluster of Black Holes near the Kessel Spice Mines/Prison... Han lost a number of hull plates off the Millennium Falcon by cutting way too close to the cluster to complete the Kessel Run in only 12 parsecs... But I digress. Inside the Cluster there is a gravitational safe spot where an Imperial think tank of researchers resides. The path in is such a constantly shifting mess that it requires a force user to navigate.

Regarding the Mark Omega thing, Mark doesn't necessarily have to mean 'target'. Sometimes when somebody builds something and they improve upon the design, they may use the term 'mark' - or Mk. - to differentiate between the earlier and later versions of it. So if you designed, say, a jet fighter, and your initial designs didn't work, you'd have to make improvements based on what you learned - So the original prototype would be considered the Mark 1 (Mk. I) version, the next model you make would be Mark 2, and so on and so forth - letters can also be substituted in place of numbers. Of course, manufacturers will likely have their own ways of designating models, but that's the basic idea. So if the Empire had a project labeled Mark Omega, it might be the final version of the project, since Omega is the last letter in the Greek alphabet.

My guess is Pax Aurora is a reference to Pax Romana, which was peace under a period of the Roman Empire. Pax Aurora likely would have been some sort of peacekeeping weapon.

Can you do a video of the canon Imperial rank insignia? Right now there is no information i can find and all legends information seems to be conflicting.

also I looked up cluster prism and it turns out there was a thing called the prism in legends which was a 'secret Jedi-run prison facility whose existence was only known to the Jedi Council'. it was made to house 'incredibly dangerous criminals' on the fringe of the galaxy and was made to be inescapable. it was eventually visited by Darth Vader to heal an injured palpatine and who eventually got all the prisoners to fight amongst each other to decide who gets to serve the empire.

stellar sphere could be DSII. it is twice as big as DSI and could target ships, so it must have had changes in design.
