It's a kink taken to the extremes... a place where anything can either go wrong or can go nasty. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that is partly it's appeal. In all my experience as a dominant with many submissives over the years, and getting to know them on a deep level, they all have very different reasons for being drawn to the community. Same for dominants.. one of my best friends has very different reasons behind his lifestyle to me (he enjoys control/power and pushing his subs boundaries, I enjoy the complex psychological dynamic of gratifying the subs individual desires/needs and playing with the illusion of control to fulfill them and offer them a safe space to be 'free' to escape societal expectations of men). If anything, the commonality I've noticed in most of my subs has been a past of bullying or low self esteem. You'd think it's strange that they'd go on to enjoy and request humiliation if they've experienced bullying - but I see it as their way of dealing with that past trauma by facing it head on and ultimately being in control of it, rather than being an unwilling victim feeling powerless in a social setting. They're allowed to show emotions... be themselves.. be openly vulnerable... and not judged despite the roleplay. Aftercare is a necessity too. I honestly can't think of someone I know who fits the 'pent up sexual frustration' category within BDSM.. but thats not to say there arent any people who do.

Ive listened to a youtube channel called Lazy Masquerade. According to him, the reconstruction would often be that way in order to draw attention. If it had been a person whose facial features resembles many, it will be hard to be stamped on everyones mind who they were looking into. Besides they dont really know the face for it had been already decayed so thinking of the prominent feature and accentuating it more will be helpful.

Those were my thoughts watching this video. Police and military, unfortunately, are very attractive for this breed of individuals. Weak, lost, often self-destructive, and desperate for someone to control in order to feel big an meaningful. Not uncommon for people in the medical field, too.

Fun fact that no one asked for: The reason why a lot of facial reconstructions/composites of victims end up having that "uncanny valley" look is because when they can find any physical quirk or "abnormality" that stands out from the remains they're working with, they greatly exaggerate those unique features because it's those little things that not only family and friends will immediately recognize, but are also sometimes things that random witnesses might remember. So for Laura, it appears that all they had to really work with were her teeth, her high cheekbones, long narrow nose and a longer philtrum. The forensics just took all that and just dialed them up to an 11. It creates some really unsettling composites, tbh. But it's an old method that still apparently works REALLY well for identification. It's amazing.

From my understanding there are plenty of pictures similar to the forensic facial reconstruction of Jenny. Particularly when the bodies are in an advanced state of decay and there are no leads in identification, facial reconstruction is done focusing on the facial characteristics that stand out the most. It is important to note that the uncanny tone is done in purpose, since an abstract image of an exagerated visual characteristic from the corpse is more likely to trigger a memory from a potential witness. Even with such a unique reconstructed image, Jenny was succesfully identified by her relatives after seeing it being distributed by the media and approaching the police. You can make the experiment yourself. Put the reconstructed and a face image of Jenny smiling and you can see some similarities. For me, the most interesting case of these reconstructed images is that of Cheryl Bowman. Her face was "completely battered into jelly", thus making a facial reconstruction impossible. However, her sketch was drawn with her hand (which had many rings) covering her face, in hopes she would be recognized. She was successfully identified after 16 years since her body was found.

I think it's always eerie to see reconstructed pictures of victims that have been made from the victim's actual face. It reminds me of the reconstructed photo of the boy in the box where you can tell they're deceased in the actual photo. It's so sad but unfortunately necessary in some cases.

This monsters apartment wasn't far from where I went to university, I went to summer camp in the town where the victims were found. Same. I’m from Texas and a lot of people have died within the Dallas area. At one point in time, you’d be able to walk at night with a few friends and have fun. Sadly, the place has become a hotspot for crime, as the once peaceful community in Dallas has become Ghetto and at night you can even hear gun shots as if you were in Chicago. Which is why I plan on being careful once I got to college. I’m the Houston area people get mugged and In Dallas ofc it’s Dallas, so only reason why I’d attend a college in Dallas is because the courses I wish to take. If only the world were more peaceful 😔

I like that you put said "accidentally" ... I'm not an expert, but normally when strangling someone, don't they lose consciousness before dying ? And the death even happens minutes after that ? Which means the two women would have lost consciousness during their "play" and yet he would have continued until they were truly dead. I once met a guy who told me early on that he was in BDSM. I told him I wasn't into self abuse or abuse of others. I asked him why he was into it. He said his wife cheated on him and he divorce her. That's not a valid reasoning actually. If you re a Dom, you re one. If you re a sub, you re one. Most people don't explore bc of how wrong advertisement of BDSM. It is all about safe, sane and consensual. And it doesn't always associates with pain and abuse. It can be sexual and nonsexual. I truly believe that in certain jobs a full psychological evaluation test should be required at least every 6 months! From an outside person or persons who are administrating the test so it would not be no room for bias or favoritism IMO

I was on a walk when listening to this and verbally shouted "No! NO!" When you discussed how he engaged in breath play. Any kinkster worth their salt would always always always have industrial shears on hand if using any sort of rope, and would know that you DON'T use rope for breath play! And you especially don't use it with a gag. You ALWAYS leave the person at least two ways of communication. Holy heck, he knows nothing of proper bdsm and safety. He should have been locked up way sooner. He wasn't a kinkster, he was a predator and knew where to find vulnerable victims.

According to KZbinr Lazy Masquerade. The reconstruction image of a victim would often be unusual in order to garner attention. They often highlight a persons facial features to make them stand out to those who see them so they are more recognisable (large eyes, strong cheekbones etc). If it had been a person whose facial features resembled many others, it will be difficult to be printed on everyone's mind who they were looking for. It helped a famous Jane Doe case of a woman with a spinal disfigurement whose disturbing reconstruction image garnered a lot of attention to her case which in turn ended up being partially solved. It might sound cruel especially if that person is to be remembered by that image however it is useful to solving the case.

Laura's case is heartbreaking. I wonder if her grief of losing her daughter led to her feeling a lot of negative emotions towards herself (guilt, regret, etc) - irrationally of course - and that's what drew her to the idea of exploring BDSM as a submissive... maybe wanting a means of punishing herself / turning her inner pain into something external, much like self-harm is a 'release'. I can't help but think that was likely the case, which makes her already awfully tragic story even sadder.

Excellent video. What I like about your channel is that you always adhere to the FACTS. Not opinions or hearsay. A lot of other channels do the whole “omg the cops didn’t look at this one person who is clearly so creepy and weird ! It’s obvious they had something to do with it because some random person said they might! “. Those channels are disgusting. Bravo on the respect you give the families and the law enforcement too. Some times people will only take the words or opinions of the family involved when…they could be bias towards their loved one’s image. Again, you deliver facts and give credit when it’s due. Hey! A lot of this happened not to far from me. Southern MN is one of those places where, even if a town is several hours away, it's considered a neighboring town in some ways. This was a HUGE case at the time, at least amongst Minnesotans and Wisconsinites. Thanks for always doing these cases amazing justice and always circling back to remembering the victims. It really means a lot to hear someone talk genuinely about the misconstruance of BDSM in relation to crimes like these. There is such an unwarranted stigma surrounding the entire community when, as you said, it is built fundamentally on trust, safety, and mutual respect. Pre-negotiated choking in a controlled environment with two consenting parties is so much different than a man choking his partner without precaution when she is unable to protest. Just really happy you mentioned this on the side when it's so easy to drop an offhanded remark about "the sex freaks".
