Cool factor is real haha. I have to say that I enjoy the longer videos and the rambling. But back to cool factor, the value placed on certain brands or designers knives control the market value and the want for them. It can make a $100 knife as lusted for as a $500 one. You can’t help but enjoy it even tho it can be frustrating at times. It makes the game more interesting and make the moment when you finally get what you’ve been chasing after that much better and satisfying.

i always knew i wanted to get the higher end stuff eventually, my first 100+ knife was a gerber auto in s30v and just a few days ago i got a bhq exclusive rockeye for nearly 300. it happpens and when you have something you have a genuine interest in you owe it to yourself to explore and enjoy it.

U get the desert warrior rockeye? Hate I missed that one I'm trying to pick up a rockeye. I found a rockeye operator instock but they sold out by time I had my money ready. Was able to pick up a mordax at a local gun store though.

@@bhunt919 yeah i had a friend tell me he saw them on the coming soon page so i set notifications, they didnt sell out as fast as i thought the knurled one was in stock for a few hours the smooth one nearly 12 hours. but if you didnt know they were coming it was pretty fast.

I absolutely agree with everything you said here; and I must admit I never puss out after 5 minutes! I’m in it for the long haul. As for the cool factor, since I started watching your videos a little over a month ago I’ve already bought a textured titanium Demko 20.5 as well as 6 budget knives for work and I did the preorder on the CHAD! My wife doesn’t thank you but I certainly do and keep the COOL coming!!

9 months ago I got into budget knives Civivi, Sencut, Cjrb, kept telling myself idk how someone can need more than this, these budget knives are amazing. Fast forward to present day….I’m currently hunting a Rosie, and have a semi custom mini fsd on the way. The knife that sent my down the bigger, better more expensive knife path was the WE mini buster.

I only have one knife and it's the AD 20.5. Literally. And I thought it was a crazy amount of money to spend on a folding knife but I did it after handling one that belonged to a friend. YES the aquatic Shiro made the cut this week! I will absolutely own one of those. I’m 100% aware of my addiction and have come to terms with it 😂 second pelican case and 2 more knives currently on the way. Got a coworker addicted to knives and he doesn’t know it yet. Super good insight! I think those who are snobby in their claim to solely focus on value need to realize that if you’re participating in this community, you’re already partaking in some sort of excess. Contrary to what some may say, maximizing performance is *not* a necessity. A lot of what the community considers to be the bare minimum acceptable quality would serve the average person for years/decades and they’d never think twice about it if they never discovered the enthusiast knife world. There’s certainly value to be found in all price ranges, but anyone who thinks they’ve found the magic price range that has max value and minimum pretentiousness is incredibly naive.

I just spent $ 2k in 3 microtech knives last week in the TX bladeshow (one of them is the same borka stitch that you have over there lol) When i said my limit was 600 bucks, now i'm aiming for a mirror polished marfione custom that costs even more than those 3 together! one thing that i keep telling myself is that i would never have a certain number of knives all at once. like i wouldn’t want to have more than 10 knives, if i hit that mark and want more, i would convince myself to sell one before i bought another. i can feel that boundary slowly flexing, like maybe i would someday be okay with having 20 or 30 knives 😂 the price-per-knife ceiling isn’t something i think about quite as much but definitely the number of knives in my collection.

Truer words were never spoken. Less than a year ago I said out loud, incredulous, "who would pay more than $100 for a knife?" Then I did. A Spyderco Para 3 LW for 115 bucks. It was over the split second I held it in my hand. Now I'm making room in the Apache Case (one of two) with the Nalpak insert for the incoming SBD Mini Evo. Prolly put it next to the Quiet Carry Waypoint and the Rockwall & Bexar. Same row as the Terrain 365 Invictus-ATC Ti and the Malibu PVK Exclusive. The first case is filled with only Spydercos... The shame lasts until you put the third or fourth order in. Then comes acceptance, and hopefully soon I can laugh like MC does in this video. New line is $500. I won't until...

Started collecting 15 mos. ago, broke the $200 barrier (for 1 knife) after 2 mos., $400 for my first CRK after 3 mos., $500 for a SHF Royal Flush at Blade Show 2022...and in the past week, 2 Evo Mini CF AND a Dirac Delta Urban Camo. Probably the most accurate thing said about knife collecting. My first self imposed wall was 200. Then I got a knife given to me that was 250. Gave away most of my knives because they didn't compare. Quit getting knives for a decade. Then I heard of all the new steels, got a few and quit collecting again. Then one day back in 2018 I watched a few knife reviews. Now I'm near the 800 mark on a single knife and and I'm sure I will go further.

From when I got into this hobby nearly 2 years ago I never said anything like "I'd never spend X amount on a knife." I'd say stuff like "X is the most I would currently spend on an EDC." The Giantmouse Ace Sonoma that was a gift was what got me to buy $100+ dollar knives. A used PM2 ($100) was the first knife I spent over $50 on.
