i think part of the problem with most series scriptwriting is a focus on not letting anyone miss the subtler aspects of a plot. Consequently, those aspects are delivered in a ham-fisted manner. By contrast, particularly in this second episode of The Penguin, I realized that, speaking for myself, I had to pay close attention to what was unfolding and to the sometimes almost subliminal clues revealing the underlying motivations of the characters - or I would likely be lost. These are not your generic comic book characters.

Precisely. We’ve grown out of trusting that the audience can pick up on subtlety and follow the story. I don’t believe in a “shortened attention span.” We pay attention less because what we watch is less interesting. Give me characters that I care about and a story that’s compelling, then I’ll drop my phone and watch intently all day long.

i said this will be hbo GOT o gotham after 1st episode, it has been great so far, only downside is the young boy, his acting and intrudaction is not executed well, I wont feel sorry or feel nothing if he gets killed on next part.
