Just an FYI, you don't have to pull everything apart to access the M.2 slots and RAM. All you have to do is take out all the drives and you can access the slots at the bottom of the drive bays. Other than that it's a good video

I think Qnap recommend accessing the SSD and Ram slots by taking all the four drive bays out - much easier than taking the thing apart.

A built-in power supply is a bad idea, an external can be easily swapped out once it fails, much less downtime.

It can do virtualization just not as many and not as fast as NAS that are $1000-$3000+.

Excellent review on this QNAP NAS for using by photographers/videographers. But this little thing can be used for so many other applications, such a private cloud, surveillance, and so on and so forth. Would you talk about the other functions as well?

Do you have the exact model number of the Seagate Ironwolf that you're using? Also will this be able to handle H.265 720 or 1080p content? I don't really do 4k. Thanks again.

Seagate sent over small 4TB ones, ST4000VN008. Just get the size you need, they're all the same and will work fine. amzn.to/3UYVYIw

I can't find one for under $900 from any reputable website, not to mention that it isn't very minimal, I'd sat that a much NAS much better at being entry level would be something like a Terramaster F2-210 for $180. If the price came down to under $600, I'd say that its price was average, if it were under $500 I'd say that it's pretty good.

It's $549 on Amazon

I have a Terramaster and I would not recommend it. You get better software with QNAP.

Entry? $600 NAS is not entry level.

the transfer speed with 4 drives is disappointing. Woudl it be a lot faster with 4X8 instead?
@boshi9 Жыл бұрын
Write speed in RAID5 is always going to be limited by the speed of a single drive as you have to update parity information.

I use RAID 10 to get excellent read and write speeds. Costs more per TB though.
